Criticism is allowed. Undue flaming is not. Take a second to think your post through before you submit.

Bans will be handed out.

Should go without saying, but don't link restreams here either.

this basically states that any video that has a premium version, needs to have a free version or something along those lines which in my mind means that they cant actually do this. It makes sense that GSL has a lq stream always.
I dont think it is worth it to pay 20 bucks, i can watch assembly, where there are many great players that i am personally looking forward to, and i can watch the MLG the week after, because they have a really nice VOD system.

We understand that many third party websites have a "free" method to see their video content, as well as a 'premium' membership service that allows for speedier viewing.

For clarity, please note that as long as the website that hosts your Production provides a free method to allow viewers to see the Production, Blizzard Entertainment will not object to your Production being hosted on that site, regardless of the site's "for pay" premium service plans.

Key words here being 'speedier' MLG says they will release the VODS a week later.

Its funny about the ppl saying $20 is nothing for a weekend. GSL was $24.99 for content 5 days of content per week ranging anywhere from 2-3 hours a night. Now do that for 4 weeeks and then compare and say its a good deal to spend $20 on 20 hours of content.

One question for the Naysayers in this thread:

Did MLG ever put profit before their audience?
Dallas 2010 was a disaster = everyone who bought the hd pass got a refund
same hd pass price = better quality and quantity of content
membership = less to watch individual event + increase in quality and quantity of content as above

Do you still believe this model that is presented now will come through ?
I'll wait and see how this develops, but even if this price stays - I will buy it and watch to VODs

MLG has my support.

how much would mlg have to charge for you to abandon this argument?

I don't understand why they are paying for the players' trips and having them play live at the same location if there will be no live audience...
Who's that coming down the track?

I think people are so spoiled with everything being free for so long. But at the same time they are hypocrites because they want SC to be more legitimate, yet to make it that, it would require something from them. Money. So instead of buying worthless shit food at a convenience store, save that money and buy this.

Actually I am really thinking of going to the Davis BarCraft for this. should be fun!

Going straight-up against Assembly looks like some poor timing. Furthermore, the price is quite high for a single weekend and as an annual Gold membership purchaser I would like at least a discount.
Well, I still hope it works out for them, but I will likely be out.

It astonishes me to no end just how entitled the internet makes people feel. Fucking vultures always circle the free meal. It's 20 bucks for a weekend of entertainment from a source that you KNOW provides quality! What a bunch of ungrateful twats.

E-sports will never grow with this community of free-loaders. Not even willing to pay $1 dollar an hour... lol

It's astonishing to me that you think it's fine to call people selfish cunts who don't want to spend $20 on a product.

Some people just don't have a spare $20, have some empathy for others instead of being so judgmental.

As someone who is too strapped for cash to justify spending any money whatsoever on hobbies, I fall into the starcraft viewer demographic of "has never payed a single dollar for any type of content". I am a freeloader. The amount they are charging for the PPV doesn't really affect me and my opinion on the topic is pretty much inconsequential..

With that said, I feel like I would be more willing to pay for content if I was sure the quality would be good. Why pay for qualifiers for championship pool play when the actual pool play+championship is free? Why pay for a studio produced 32 man tournament when their 'studio-produced' qualifiers were of atrociously low quality?

I'm sure widespread PPV events would be good for the 'growth of esports', but I'm not sure this is how the first step towards PPV needs to be.

Also, I think this is because they want to create something with a really high production value. The problem is the only sample we've been given of their studio production was their qualifiers which were, simply put, bad.

This is a massive step for both MLG and every other tournament out there. If MLG can sacrifice the low quality stream free-loaders and come out more profitable, more tournaments will adopt this model. This is a huge move and when the event is said and done it may change the entire landscape

yeah I'm watching assembly as well. If it was the only tournament going on and I could sit at my computer the whole weekend to watch it I might consider but as I'm always running around, I'm not paying to catch a few games here and there especially when there's another tournament that is free on the other channel. Ah and for me it is live games or nothing. I don't watch VoDs.

Because of my work schedule I can't watch the whole event via live stream so
I'd have to say 30$ would be the limit for me if it meant only vods
If I was able to watch the whole event - up to 40$ depending on players

$20 seems excessive to me, to be honest, especially when you compare it to a GSL subscription, which has way more content.
