I'm feeling like I'm the son of the of two divorced parents which both of the parents spoiling me just to win me over the other, Where is that now? Now if the PPV will be a success why won't every other tournament won't do the same? and all of the sudden our fan SC2 life we be: want to watch IPL? pay 20$ want to watch IEM? pay 20$ want to watch MLG? pay 20$ want to watch NASL? pay 20$ etc etc etc. | ||

but after watching the LO3 episode last night live (well more like 3am i'm frm the uk) I'd totally buy the 20$ pass for the weekend, he's testing to see what they can charge how many are willing to pay for extra premium content, like he said if you dont like it dont buy it, you are not entitled to anything for free. this tournament is gonna have the best sc2 players flown in and playing on 4 hd streams all weekend. I dont even think it's right comparing it to a special event like AOL, this is vastly greater for a start AOL is all online being casted from Replays no? and generally has lower quality matches than normal gsl seasons. MLG management is the only at fault about where they are at the moment and it's pretty fucking obvious they are desperate for money. Cool story bro ... but I wont save your ass because you cant run a successful business model. Nobody forced you to run so many events a year. You waste a ton of money on things you can spare and dont even treat your costumers right. And now were hurting esports if we dont pay your overpriced 20$ for you content? Are you fucking kidding me? I dont care about the extra footage behind the scenes. I dont care that you pay the flights of every single player in your tournament. I dont care that you get a hotel room for all of them. I dont care that you feed them. That shit doesnt concern me, Im not a fucking player. Youve decided to do those things and waste a ton of money on the way. The only at fault here is you. I dont agree with the PPV model of developing things. That shit will never sustain itself. A large portion of the people will never accept this model. Never. If every single tournament starts using PPV the whole community is gonna shrink enormously. People may care about the game but people will always care more where they spend their money. There is so much free content on the internet that people are either gonna stop caring for PPV events completetly or just switch their interest to a different game. I accept the idea of having a free LQ stream with a charged HD stream but I will never accept this model. In every corner someone wants your money: "Come on man its just 20 bucks.." ... 20 here , 10 there , 5 somewhere else.... fuck that bro If the moment comes where I will have to choose whether to watch some games for 20 bucks or go out and drink them with friends - I will never choose the first one. | ||

Just to pick one thing out from your post: just because something doesn't affect you directly, (the money going to subsidize player travel, etc) it doesn't mean it doesn't affect you in some way. People crying about quality of players at earlier MLGs? Well guess what? Paying for travel changes who goes to the event and the quality of play you may see because some of those great players from Korea may not be able to come. It is clear you are very emotional about this. Take one step back and try to put a bit more thought into your posts before you just spew out all your anger... | ||

Is realy simple, if you would rather drink those 20$ buck up, then to be a part of and support MLG. then thats fine. go get your drink. but if you care about this tournament and like to watch it, you should show it by supporting them in the way you can. just becouse there is a lot of free content on the internet dosent meen that we should expect everything for free. MLG is trying to push forward with content and capital for more events and sponsers. i dont get why people are so angry, just dont pay if you dont think its worth it!! but consider what 20$ bucks is compered to what you get! i for one would much rather pay 20$ for one weekend of content then 1 beer in a bar. | ||

I never felt one smidgen of guilt about it since it's beautiful capitalism at work. A very good point. There is no discussion to be had about the price boundaries/worth of such an event. The only point that matters is the principal at work - setting a precident for charging a fee for flat out any content, not for higher quality content given the situation with SC2. I am fine with the GSL charging money and offering a pathetic quality free stream. I am fine with 2nd tier events like MLG/Blizzcon/DH offering extra streams and higher quality streams for money - but there should always be a free stream. Its pathetic to talk about growing e-sports and improving the scene by forcing new/less committed fans to pay a lot of money just to get involved. | ||
