But didn't you know that all the casters are working for free because they love Esports? All they ask is enough money to cover their rent, food and the cost of comic books. Seriously, if they work for no money, I don't see why MGL has to charge anything....
Please, get real. Day9, artosis and the other casters are making money at these events. Do you think that Artosis is at MLG and not Assembly because he likes MLG better? No, its because they are paying him for this time.

His point was that Day9 could have included his commercial ad revenue in the total money made for DreamHack. I have no clue how that whole situation worked, so I won't comment on it, but I think he point was that Day9 could have been paid in many different scenarios to reach that final number 1k from Dreamhack + 19k from commercials on his 50k viewer stream. 20k from Dreamhack 0 dollars from commercials because DH said no commercials. 10k/10k
So on and so on too many scenarios that I don't care to think up

Day9 also does not run Ads (like nearly every other tournament/streamer/whatever) - and he insists, that you just pay if you want to participate on Viewerbattles. Its completely voluntary, you get the Day9 Daily including every special event for free. And that will (his words, not mine) never change.
Edit: sorry for the spoiler, i saw he is also german, i can explain myself way better in our mothertongue than in english. All the flaming was done in english, so.. Meh.

Of course they do. They have to, of course. But the numbers are so obviously stupid, do you really think that MLG/DH pays 20k per caster to get them on the show?
Honestly, nobody could be THAT naive.

It doesnt make any difference how he gets payed (DH directly or through ads on his channel).
It's still money he gets for casting at Dreamhack.
Whats your point. Im out , you keep repeating yourself. Good night.

Yeah. I do, because you dont get it.
Btw, your argument was "They payed him 20k for streaming/casting/promoting/whatever. Thats all i said.". They didnt. That easy, if you cant grasp that, not my fault.

Why don't you explain it already? What's the difference?
Don't tell me its because of the "They".
Doesn't matter at all who payed him, i was not referring to DH specifically.
He earned 20K with casting/... u know what / ... on 3 days. Thats pretty good i would say.

You know.. They dont. Its based on a "legend" that DH paid Day9 20k. Which they did not. If Day9 would have won the lottery that day, he would have made 2,3 millions that weekend. Do you really think, DH paid that amount?

Of course he is well paid. He attracts viewers. A lot. Same with Tastosis. And in my opinion, justified. They donate pretty much their whole life to that, so yeah. But saying "well they paid 20k per caster x10" is.. Well, exaggerated, to say the least. Or better, nicest.
Edit: i actually dont think its close to 5 diggits. More likely half that + travel.

While I totally agree with your point. How much Day[9] earns from DH isn't relevent to why MLG is making us pay for a weekend event. Though if DH did pay him 20k people could guess that he earns near that reguarily which means that casters are killing esports (lol). Then we could state that because they overpay casters we are now being forced to pay $20 for a weekend event. But then to go even futher you would assume that Tasteless and Artosis and perhaps even DjWheat command similar earnings, so this MLG event because Day[9] is not there would cost at least 60k.
In reality though all side discussions are irrelevent because we don't have all the information. MLG proving they have a net loss. Then showing a balance sheet with all expenses and if they indeed were in the red (which I don't think they are) we could analyze what they're spending so much money on. Perhaps they get beat down by the internet company on the MLG weekends and the fact that casters earn 20k an event then becomes irrelevent to this discussion, however, the players vs caster discusssion may still take place. And on that side argument if they indeed do make 20k an event which I'm not so sure is true, that means that over the course of a MLG season even if a player wins every single event they still make less than a caster if they cast every single event (in years past that is).
MLG = Major League Greed

What I don't get is why Sundance teases us with outlandish numbers and potential locations on his twitter, and then hikes up the price because they need the extra money to scrape by.
