Should go without saying, but don't link restreams here either. |

It's perfectly fair.
Whether it's worth it is another question. This shouldn't be about entitlement.

i guess PPV makes sense for an event with no live audience, but they should've announced this as soon as they announced the event.

guess its already been said a hundred times, but to let them see what most of us are unhappy about: I would never ever pay for this for 2 reasons.
1. too expensive in comparison to the other great series like ipl or iem. how come they can make it work? and don't argue with the paying flight thing, or hotelcosts, players will come even if u don't pay for them if the prize is big enough. We do not need another gsl in america so don't invite that many koreans if the won't afford it.
2. the downtimes during mlgs are still unbearable. If i pay for sports for example i know that for that evening i will have nonstop content and entertainment. mlg has huuuuuuge breaks after the games, almost making me stop watchin when it was for free. it is just not suited for evening entertainment if u're alone and wanna watch from the couch or sth.
despite that, any interesting opinions that have been posted by mlg officials or other people with a name in e-sports? don't want to go through 130 pages :/

=/ As a big fan of MLG who has purchased membership with them before I am saddened by this turn of events. I remember paying a few dollars to watch content for 3 months. Now its $20 for 2 days of content with no low quality stream. Very disappointing indeed.
I will state my opinion firmly with my wallet and not purchase the next event. Hopefully they will change their minds and atleast provide a LQ stream for people who can't spend $20 every month to watch their arenas.

John This is yet another reason why 20 dollars for a weekend of streams is a bad idea. Re-streams aren't really allowed are they ?:D Would be kinda cool though.... It would be kinda fun to see MajorLeagueGaming - 2500 viewersJohnSmithy631 - 33000 viewers
That is so optimistic man. Sooo optimistic.

It costs the same amount to attend a live event as it does to get HD pass...... Hmmmmmmm

As a gold membership subscriber at least give me something. Send me an email offering a higher level of subscription or something. Or a discount.
I'm sure this has been posted a bunch of times before but as a consumer I feel alienated by this announcement and I'll be more hesitant to invest in MLG in the future. MLG puts out a great product though so we'll see.

I will be very sure to report you to whatever stream you are using for copyright violation as soon as I see it go up. Out of the kindness of my own heart for all the staff at MLG.

well hopefully MLG is honest about their viewers and don't inflate the stats. I'm guessing they will have anywhere from 5-10k 5 being the lowest 10 being the highest, but very doubtful on them even hitting 10k

I must say that after watching HSC IV I gladly paid 5 EUR for the premium HD streams and I would even have paid 10-15$, because Dennis Gehlen (TakeSeN) who ran the tournament invested his own money, put in all players in his own apartment and it had such a nice esports come together atmosphere that I won´t ever pay more than 10$ for an event that doesn´t come close to the HSC. Their production team was outclassing (music, videos, barcraft) everything that has been seen on this planet before in esports IMHO and you simply cannot beat players casting games and their great flow without interruptions.
I really love the big MLG events big time, but after HSC I realized that 20$ is not gonna happen anytime soon. GSL Light is asking 14.99$ for an entire season and that´s about as much as I am willing to spend, but only IF I know that it is gonna rock my socks off.

Just ask yourself how many viewers were on the premium stream for HomeStoryCup 4 for 7$. MLG will be flying solo on this one.

Anyone looked at the Blizzard Video Policy?
http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/legal/videopolicy.html
"Limitation of Usage Neither you nor the operator of any website where your Production(s) may be viewed can force a viewer to pay a "fee" to be able to view your Production(s).
For clarity, please note that as long as the website that hosts your Production provides a free method to allow viewers to see the Production, Blizzard Entertainment will not object to your Production being hosted on that site, regardless of the site's "for pay" premium service plans."
No tournament is actually ALLOWED to be PPV. NOT A SINGLE ONE. If there is no free live stream, you just CAN'T stream a blizzard game.

Ups... that's quite interesting.

I hate to say it but this is a price i will not pay. It's not worth it to me. im fairly well off and i find it way too expensive. i can only imagine the thousands of people who would actually want to pay for it but simply can not afford to blow 20 dollars on 1 (ONE) weekend of MLG.
and whats worse is no free stream? O.o what?
im sorry sundance. im sitting this one out. and possibly the whole of 2012 if you're sticking to your guns.

I wonder if they get around it by offering the VODs at a later date. Also, GSL requires payment to view their event.

If the event is PPV does that mean the VoDs are replays aren't going to be released or will only be for those who payed?

Vods from MLG will be released for FREE one week later.

Do you seriously think Blizzard and MLG do not have a relationship beyond what their public policies are on their website? I don't want to come off like an asshole, but get a clue man.
