Everyone complaining in this thread should be ashamed of yourselves- organisations need money to survive. Why shouldn't you, the consumer, give them some? I agree, they should offer low-quality with ads, but at the end of the day paying $20 isn't going to kill you, and if everyone did it then there would certainly be many more events to come. This argument can be said about anything. Paying $50 wouldn't kill me either but it still not worth it. As a comparison i can stream five HD quality movies for those $20, that's about 8-10 hours of higher quality entertainment. I can also buy a months subscription to live streams for all Premier League matches, Champions league, NHL, and the top movie channels. All higher quality than this 3 day MLG qualifier. 3 days of inferior SC2 (compared to GSL) or a months worth of all top sports, top movies, and all the latest TV series/shows. Really shows how off they are in their pricing.

If i want to watch football I turn my TV on and it is free. If I want to watch some underground sport I have to get a subscription which is not even 20$/month... <3 Assembly. FREE* You pay in time through commercials. Maybe in 20 years if and when E-Sports attracts enough sponsorship to get on TV, then you can do the same. Until then, though.....

I've been at college and poor, but I can say I spent at least that much entertaining myself every weekend. well actually I have a decent amount of spare cash but tbh. I dont want to use if it if not necessary. So apart from rent let's say I have 50$ a week income for food+anything else. I wouldnt mind paying 20$ but humas tend to compare I guess, and I didnt even pay 20$ for my whole gsl season ticket. Most importantly: I dont support PPV.

It's not that $20 is some life changing amount of money, it's that what they are offering is not worth it compared to other offerings out there, both SC2 related and not. ESPECIALLY when the event has no crowd, not having that hype makes the value even less. Plus God knows who is casting it.

I would say that rather than hoping to earn a shitload, they are trying to save a shitload of money by not having to get the bandwith necessary otherwise.

I'm not angry at MLG or anything, just sad I won't be able to watch it. I'm just not in the economic situation to pay just for watching SC2 events and I don't think this will change soon so I just won't watch anything that I have to pay for (except GSL which has Tastosis and the best players out there). For MLG I hope that it will be success because they earned it, I've always been a big fan of MLG events. For selfish reasons I hope it won't be too big of a success because if one day all the major MLG, Dreamhack, IEM etc events will be PPVs I just won't watch any of them because I can't afford it/don't want to spend so much money just to watch SC. Might be the future of eSports though ![]()

Please stop talking about the main event. We are paying 20 dollars (if we wanna watch it) for this arena. dont come with prizemoney from other tourneys. MLG says they wanna make profit. and they charge us 20 dollars for this event. If i pay 20 dollars i want a huge chunk of it to go to the main characters which are the players (NO, not the casters, ffs..). And watching the prize money, its just ridiculous, ans they surely wont get my 20 dollars if they want profit for themselves, but dont give ANY of it to the players.

This is just like those LoL skins that cost 5$ or more while you can play the game with the same experience. I would buy 20 skins for 1$, but I am never fucking ever buying 1 skin for 10$. If LoL priced all their skins for 1$ I might have bought 20-50 already. But because they price it at 5,10,15$ for a skin I will never buy one. I feel like MLG is doing the same. Ask for 5$ and maybe 10 people will buy it. Ask for 20$ and they can be lucky if 1 of those 10 does it. And I am still mad about my gold membership being worth nothing.

So yeah maybe $20 is not that much but people shouldn't forget, we the fans, allready have GSL+GSTL tickets, NASL or even MLG gold. It's not just about $20 but about the ammount of money people are willing to spend on SC2. I would like to travel to a MLG or SK to see GSL but thats way more that i'm willing to spend on SC2, thankfully not everybody feels like I do. I've spent more money on SC2 then I do with music or movies since i download everything :D. My point is the community can and will support events and players but you can't ask us to buy everything or to not make choices. If I have bought GSL+GSTL, plus i'm from europe why would i spend 15€ when i can just watch assembly that is in my timezone and also has great players. There is to much content this days, for instance if i miss a GSL game I probably won't see it unless there is something amazing or a scandal that eventually I will hear about it and i go watch it. There is to much stuff to see and not enought time. I think it's a bad move by MLG. I would pay $10 or $5 but i won't pay $20 because it's to much

They want esports wider but they narrow viewers by forcing pay and hoping ppv get more popular.
