UPDATE1: Class is going to be re-scheduled. I'll keep you guys in the loop.
Greetings!
The first SCDojo had a good turnout and the feedback was nothing but awesome! I spoke of hosting a second class for you guys and well, here we are! For those who weren't around for the first class, we had some awesome instructors for each of the races who put a lot of effort into this (whiplash, catz, spades) and although only Spades will be teaching for 2.0, you'll find our other two instructors to be quite awesome (more on that later!).
So, what is the SCDojo? It is a classroom where you get hands-on, person-to-person experience with the pros in a group and one on one setting. We start you guys off with refreshments and some door prizes as we go through some concept slides that halfway serve as entertainment and enlightenment (death by powerpoint is bad). Door prizes from the first dojo included an MLG shirt, MLG swag bag and two cases of NOS energy drink. After some slides and snacks we break out into our race groups to go over and expand on some of the concepts from the slides or address your personal weaknesses - you call the shots on this one. We will have a film group from Full Sail University doing some video of the event as well as some player interviews. Our passion is to get esports outside of the computer room and into the classroom in a fun, engaging and enlightening setting. Remember - people choose unhappiness over uncertainty. Do not settle for your comfort zone and push yourself to be better. We want you to realize this and nothing would please us more than to see you accomplish your goals. Otherwise we would be shitty teachers..
Please continue to check back on this thread and harass me for more details. I will constantly keep you guys in the loop. For now I want to just put the word out there and let you guys know up front and early that we are in fact going through with SCDojo 2.0
Below are the ever-changing updates that you want to keep checking back on ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE1: Class is going to be re-scheduled. I'll keep you guys in the loop.
When: ??? Who: Myself and the instructors: Where: Next Level LAN Center (nextlevellan.com) What: this depends on the questions you answer above How: 30% class "lecture", 70% hands-on Cost: No more than $50
Yikes, is it? If a re-naming is in order then it shall be. He definitely got the name before this thing did. Thanks for the heads up. Now I wish I could change the text of the subjects on these forums...

Does it matter? really? I think this is a great thing!
It does! From one commentator to another, I absolutely love the contributions he makes to our community. It would be a low blow to gank that sexy dude's name! However, if he is cool with this being named that I'm cool with it. If not I may need a mod to change the subject when my crew comes up with a new name..
Yes the name is an issue I brought to Cecil before. If anyone has another sick name idea please PM me or Cecil. Till then I have dubbed it the SC2 Class.
We'll come up with a snazzy name soon. SCUniversity is one of the names mulling around. Tell you what, if anybody comes up with a really awesome name I'll knock a couple bucks off your registration. Though I'm already pretty sold on SCU
My alma mater filming is pretty neat. Wish it, as well as sc2 were around during my time there, would be fun to be a part of. Good luck, and thanks for doing things like this, truly awesome.

I unfortunately do not live in anywhere near where it's located so I will not be able to attend, but that was an excellent video that was posted at the end of the forum post, very well done. I hope the turnout is awesome!
Just a quick update. NOS is a definite sponsor. They will feed you and provide all the NOS you want. They will even give you cases as door prizes. We're working with Razer right now to see if we can hook you guys up as well. Right now SCU (Starcraft University) is the winning name for now. As soon as I get a mod's attention he can change the subject. That is, unless Artosis is okay with us using the SCDojo name.
Just keeping you guys in the know-how. If you have questions about how this is going down or if you want to help in any way just let me know. I'm going to talk with Play N' Trade games sometime in the next week and see if they can hook you guys up with some goodies as well. The more sponsors, the more you guys get.
Wow such awesome possible sponsors!! I'm trying to not get too excited since it's so far away, but it's pretty hard not to. Anyway, keep the updates incoming :-)

Starcraft University is a great name -- but it's also the name of one of the older Starcraft websites, starcraftuniversity.org! It was my first forum! It's been up and down for the past four or so years. I'm not sure if that means you should or shouldn't use it though!
Still haven't gone anywhere with the new name yet lol. The current priority is locking in our zerg. I can't say who but we're about 80% sure. I can say with 100% certainty though that once this player is revealed, you'll have to pick your jaw off the floor and fasten it back on.
Keep pinging me questions if you have any, guys. I really want to make this awesome for you all
Last time it was $65 for a seat. This time I'm going to see about getting that down to $50. I'm not 100% decided on the price yet. That all depends on the sponsors and the amount of seats that each instructors would like to have open to their race. It gets diluted when one guy is training 12 people at once. Would the $50-60 range be fair? There is a lot of logistics behind the price. I got to give a cut to each instructor, the venue and food and if there is anything left I'll be last priority. To me money isn't important when I'm with a team of folks doing what they absolutely love, though
Meeting with the owners of Next Level LAN tonight to finalize some details for the event. If you guys are interested you can join me tonight and get a sneak preview of what is planned. After all, tonight is SC2 night at the center. So you can stop by and play at a discount with some free time as well.
sc dojo is the name of artosis website, it's not the name of his company or organization, it's just the website name he came up with. I wouldn't be so worried about the name, he's not gonna sue you or anything, besides his website hasn't been updated in months and now that he's a father and casting full time around the world I don't think he has much time to really care about that site anymore.
this is cool, wish I had something like this near me
Quick question sorry if it has already been answered but I didnt see it in the OP
How many days is this? Are we talking like noon-midnight saturday then more on sunday or just one day? Just wondering If I will need to get a hotel or not.
Cool concept and props for actually keeping people in the loop. Unfortunately $50 is a little steep for me to drive from Tampa to be told to focus on macro while watching my army. Good luck with the event. Once im off work ill share this with the USF esports and video game as well as the Tampa Barcraft group.
What skill level is this aimed towards? Is it for the lower levels who want to get to master league? Or is it for the master leaguers who want to take it to the next level?
This is aimed toward folks who are gold and above. Majority of the folks in SCDojo 1.0 were Diamond.
@Tnerb, this is going to be a one day event. I estimate lasting from 11am until about 5pm or whenever we are done playing. It's a LAN party on the side so we do whatever we want!
@Mufaa, did we mention there is food and NOS included? Oh, and if everyone wills it I will get BEER. Boo'ya! It's up to you man
Hey we got Whiplash and BigT showing up to SCII night this Friday at Next Level LAN. If any of you guys show up I can also take preregistration as well. Seats are limited to FOUR PER RACE so you want to get your spot as early as possible.
this sounds so awesome, but my friend told me this, I am not sure if this is true..

Heh. Not sure if he be trollin' or not. Instead of playing as proxy all the time I'll let the instructors themselves chime in on their achievements.
Not to be presumptuous but that guy seems to be the kind who doesn't go to LANs or cybercafes because he can sit home and avoid the social graces of us fellow gamers since he's got a PC at home.

You can register early on Wednesday. I will be out at Next Level LAN in the evening from 6pm-11pm. Otherwise just show up at the door at 11am on Saturday.
Also, if you guys want beer let me know. I'll get beer!

Spades is a GM zerg as well, he volunteered to teach both (crazy fella) and I'm fine with it. He seemed to handle the overload of students like it was nothing last time. There is a slim (5% chance) that I can get who I originally intended, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
Just a heads up! We're rescheduling the course. One of the instructors couldn't make it unfortunately so I'll let you guys know when we find a better time. My first guess is at least a month from now. I'll keep you guys in the loop though.
^ Thats a good idea! I'll for sure be implementing it into SCDojo 2.0....whenever it will be happening.
I agree. $50 is steep for the individual but remember that this has to be divided towards the venue, the food, and the three instructors. I'm lucky if I take anything more than $20 myself. If there is a way I can bring it down to about $30 I must find out....
