There’s just a couple of days left until the first season of the GSTL 2012 starts and people have been posting a bunch of posts on why various teams will win the GSTL. And well, the reason I wrote this post is because all those other posts are wrong, and i clearly need to educate you guys on why the team that is so known for changing their logo every month and also barely missed out on two GSTL titles last year will win the GSTL!
The Swedish Vikings
Who am I talking about? I’m talking about the Swedish toss bro’s Kim “Sase” Hammar and Johan “Naniwa” Luchessi. You guys might now how it went for Naniwa at the last event he attended (He placed top 8). And do you guys know what happens when Naniwa does poorly and gets disappointed at his own performance? He goes to practice machine mode, stops eating, and comes out beating MVP, Nestea and DRG at his next event (Or he’ll just proberush you).
And you know what about Sase? I’m not even going to write anything about him, I’m just going to paste his recent tweets.
“practised with @QuanticNaNi for 14 hours, still going! young and wild and free ^_^vvvvvvv”
“played for 12 hours or so but can't stop, this game is sooooooooooo fun!”
“played for 14 hours, was about to sleep,oz came here, had to drink, so happy I did ^^ good night everyone! looooooove this home!!!happy happy”
“played for 9 hours straight or so, I want massage!”
Our swedish vikings chillin at Assembly Winter last year
The Startale Protosses
Parting, you guys know what? This guy was code b two seasons ago! You guys know what? This guy was code a last season! You guys know what? This guy is frickin’ code s at this very moment! You guys know what? This guy beat the best player in the world (at least if you share the same opinion as Artosis), SlayerS_Clide. And one last time, you guys know what? This guy is SEVENTEEN years old! Nuff’ said.
Squirtle, This guy has beaten MVP in the GSTL! He also boasts a sick ratio against Protoss (71.43%) and Zerg (69.23%), while holding an decent ratio against Terran (50%). He also has the same name as the most baller Pokémon of them all.
Ace, this guy’s been slumping recently but recently just made I back in to Code A. Hopefully he’ll beast through 2012. And really, he has the name “Ace”, you can’t have a more suitable name for a teamleague! ´)
Will we see Squirtle play more insane games like the one he played against MVP in GSTL Feb?
The Startale Foureyes (Terrans)
Sound, I didn’t even know who this guy was he just came from nowhere and beasted through the Korean HSC4 qualifiers (Beating Gumiho, Revival, Heart, Lucky among others) and then taking second place at HSC4 (His first overseas event!!). Although Sound needs to improve his TvP a bit, he’s lucky to have the above mentioned protosses to help him in practice!
Bomber, although he’s been slumping a bit lately, I’m pretty sure Bomber will get back to his old standard and start stomping in Code S pretty soon. Bomber is relatively strong in all of his matchups (Holding a winrate over 60% in all of them!), which makes him really hard to snipe by other teams.
Hack, Known for his strong online performances (Among them are 3 gold medals and 4 silver medels in the TL Teamspeak tournaments) and all killing FXO in the GSTL last year. Although not having any glasses his name is fucking Kim Young Il (Yes that's his name according to TLPD), He'll probably nuke the shit out of the GSTL!
Kim Young "Hack" Il?
The Startale Zergs
Curious, I feel so sad for this guy because he pretty much keeps raping scrubs in Code A and every time he makes it up to Code S and then he falls down again and starts stomping them Code A kids. This guy is also the only guy who has won a Code A without dropping a single game!
July, although he’s retiring this year (which makes me sad) I’m looking forward to see him all inning some scrubs in the GSTL. He also has a golden mouse, enough said!
Extra: Shuffle, this guy is on Quantic, but you know what you guys will see him making a big big big really biiiiiiiiiig impact on the scene in 2012, hopefully he gets lined!
July mindtrixin' Boxer
Other stuff
JBanks, he’s the guy we’re all to thank for having the whole ST team streaming! He brings us ton of great content and doesn’t get nearly as much cred from the community as he deserves! Hopefully he’s good deeds towards to community will help ST to win the GSTL!
ST Aphrodite, winning the Zowie Divina tournamenst and proving that she's the best female sc2 progamer in the world, hopefully we'll get to se her own up SlayerSEve and oGsJongMi.
Startale also has without doubt the nicest teamhouse out of all Korean teams!
PS. I'm very sorry if this is badly written, I'm sick and not feeling to well and my english isnt that great.
DELETED... And I think you missed out on hack being such a solid player, great opener for them. I don't think Sase will play that much, but NaNi certainly could. I mean when you're throwing out Hack, Parting, Bomber, Curious, as staples of your line up, and then great snipers like NaNi, Sase, July are in the background thats kind of terrifying.

Quantic’s NaNiwa and SaSe will compete with StarTale in the first 2012 season of the GSTL under, “StarTaleQ”.

I'm not sure if you considered the other teams potential IM, Slayers and MVP are all very strong teams Maybe.. just maybe StartaleQ could beat MVP if they get past the almighty DRG IM if they got luck by there side (Nestea vs Naniwa PROPER rematch would be awesome) Slayers.. idk Bomber is definitely a good terran.. but not against the best in Slayers But past performances Startale alone.. I'm not sure I even remember them in GSTL
PS. Gotta fix that title, I thought you were talking about a Will that they made towards facing GSTL..

Yeah, fotgot about him. Although he recently joined, I cant really say much about him (His TLPD isnt all that impressive and he used to be on Zenex), I could perhaps reference to his online games, but nothing really comes to my mind right now. "/

Cant change it :/ Hopefully the mods can! And also I dont really take these threads 100% serious, they're rather fanboy material than an analysis based on fact and stats.

Apart from placing second in the first GSTL I hope, with the epic final against IM. They also did decent in the second GSTL, and not too good in the third. Then they placed second in their group in the last season of GSTL.
Startale is definitely super underrated when it comes to teamleagues. The only time they've ever underperformed in a teamleague was GSTL3. Other than that they've done well and only lost to either the eventual winner or runner up of the whole tournament. In the most recent teamleague, KSL, they took 2nd and beat IM's A team along the way. They may not have any individual league superstars anymore but they have a good racial balance which gives them versatility and makes them hard to prepare for.
This brings a tear to my eye! Thanks for the post, I will be sure to show the guys the thread so they can see all your support! I hope I can have something to do with pushing and motivating my team to victory!
I will soon be bringing a lot more fan interaction activities to you guys from StarTale!

Soon I will be yes Also not sure if you want to use some of these photos but I can not remember sharing them on TL, a lot of pics of the new house and players just before Christmas.
Come on guys, put some thought into presentation with these threads! It's all about the polish and the sparkles! It's not just about the team and the players, its about the passion, the hype!

I doubt anyone will be able to live up the standard of yours.
Squirtle is actually the next BIG Protoss. If you ever watch his stream you'll see that the guy just does NOT lose on ladder. I have seen him beat basically every big name player that there is.

Well, I personally think Squirtle has already had his time in the spotlife (like he did place third at IEM WC and has played in the GSL before?)
On January 26 2012 09:35 Aela wrote: StarTale has nothing... Their lineup is really mediocre. Parting, Bomber are ok, but the rest?
StarTale only seems a lil' bit inconsistent Parting is the new PvT mastermind, his other two MUs look strong as well. Bomber is Bomber. Dude has been slumping really hard. But when he isnt, he pwnzor left and right.21-3 vP before hitting rock bottom, vZ aint no mvp/mma but not worse than any other terrans July seldomly lost to inferior opponent. Curious has the potential to make GSL semis imo. He doesnt seem to have a weak MU, but rather bad nerve Ace & Squirtle have improved alot. Both have proven themself to be more suitable to a teamleague environment.
So yeah, theres alot to talk about StarTale. They surely have tremendous potential in each player, It's just that they are too up & down. Nevertheless, optimistically I would say ST is a lock for semifinal.

I really wonder about Partings PvZ, (I think) according to TLPD he hasnt had an official PvZ yet,

IM fighting! Although having Naniwa on your team is awsome indeed =)
Aw man, OP mentioned Aphrodite but did not mention Flo, her nickname is MarineQueen ffs lol!
But on a more serious note, ST is pretty solid. I feel their all round average quality is high, but they lack the ace, Parting is great but not Ace quality. Every serious contender team needs a DRG, MVP, MMA or whatnot. Someone that can wipe the floor with the entire opposing team if needed.

Did you miss the part about Ace? ;P I think It's more likely we'll see Aphrodite in the GSTL than FLO. "/

I doubt he's on the roster, though I will be exceptionally happy if he is and gets played.
Yeah, he wasnt really mentioned in the Quantic article on their website, but he was really close to qualifying for Code A and he will be moving in to the ST house soon, hopefully the ST Coach gets impressed and he gets to play sometime

nani didn't play and sase only lost to morrow who is also in korea. I wouldn't count them out. If nani shows 1/2 the skill he did at providence this teamleague will be ezmode.
edit: oh wow i lied, missed nanis game over dinner. Shit yo you might be right.

nani's game was proxy 2rax vs nexus first, dont read too much into that one
