There must have been more at play than results, since Machine and LZ are both still listed. It's most likely because Axslav and Strifcro's contracts were up unlike Machine and Lz's contracts.

How can one expect to maintain a position when they're not giving results and not meeting goals? They can't and I think you're just saying this cause of some sort of resentment of EG while just ignoring all of the facts.

I'd imagine its because axslav and strife are teamless right? Why would this be a bad thing for them? They have an opportunity to pursue smaller market teams that can give them more focus and attention. Axslav and strifecro will probably get better situations on other teams than EG can justify. I doubt you'll hear Ax or strife say being on EG was detrimental to their career. They're probably both thankful for the opportunity. Its a different chapter, there's no need to be sad. This kind of reminds me of the steel series and grubby situation, just because steelseries dropped grubby doesnt mean we should stop supporting either party. Grubby will land on his feet and have the opportunity to acquire different sponsors or perhaps join up with a team and steelseries will continue supporting esports. I don't see many comments saying they'll stop supporting any of these parties. Lol stay tuned. You obviously don't know much about axslav. The grubby comment was regarding something on reddit which actually sparked a response from steelseries. If you didn't hear about it you should read about it. http://kimrom.tumblr.com/post/15910329308/on-not-sponsoring-someone

Though Both their contracts were also up so it was either renew them or drop them an they chose to drop them. The same likly happen with Lz once his contract comes up since he's had pretty much 0 results.

Still doesn't make sense for axslav and strifecro to go but not machine and LZ Lz and Machine were part of the original BW squad that EG had, then in SC2 they just picked up IdrA and InControl because they were former [Media] players, Tasteless was recruited as a coach if EG ever needed to go to Korea and set up their own teamhouse, but they never managed to set it up and instead worked up a partnership with slayers

Though, I have to wonder why they didn't drop Lz? I'm not hating on the guy or anything, but he didn't really post results either.

Probably keeping him for marketing reasons since he is quite good looking. He missed one of the MLG events in 2011 because EG sent him to represent one of their sponsors at a convention.

Obviously the results aren't everything, even though you are playing superbly, the competition is far too fierce to post results consistently, so players need to be also marketable. Incontrol and Idra are especially skilled at being marketable. But I guess the Axslav and Strifecro was kinda not that merketable.

If not he might one day get cut as well.. Watching EG's practice sessions has made it pretty apparent, I think, that iNcontroL has immense value to the organization beyond results as a player. He's the most articulate player they have, the most camera-friendly and sponsor-friendly player they have, and when someone needs to crack the whip or say 'hey, you need to buckle down and work harder,' it's Geoff. I liked him for his personality beforehand, but I've gained an enormous amount of respect for him over the course of the EG practice streams. Incontrol doesn't own the team. I think Scoots owns it? but maybe im wrong and hes just the head manager. Incontrol just has a very strong following, and is great for PR. He's also very camera friendly so I can see why he will be sticking around. also im curious as to who axslav got signed on with I know Geoff doesn't own the team. I'm talking about the second part of that; the 'he might get cut' part. His presence as the team's captain and de facto spokesperson, I think, makes him as valauble as someone who puts up much better results. He's more valuable than pretty much everyone on EG except Idra Puma and Huk. If I had to guess, I'd say he's below Idra and Puma, but ahead of HuK. Complete guess though. Idra is easily the most popular player on the team and Puma was their entry into the Korean market. Imo Huk is better than Idra overall in terms of consistency in the GSL at least. Idk who won more major tournaments though, but I'd have to say Huk... It's not entirely about results though. Idra's on Inside the Game and is a regular guest on SotG. His stream gets more viewers than anyone else's, I'm pretty sure. He's always diligent about mentioning and thanking his sponsors. He doesn't have the Twitter presence that HuK does, but his fan club is one of the biggest threads on TL. That kind of thing matters, I suspect. Winning major tournaments is a big part of things but it's not the whole package.

I'm looking at an ROI to a brand, right. So, go look at Axlav's twitter followers, his facebook, his interaction, how he does videos. It's not negative against nick, this is the facts of business. Right, so, if a player wants to get more money from us, or wants to get more travel from us, they have to do certain things. It doesn't seem it was about performance, but more about player popularity.

These no result foreigners who are just kinda hanging around for a paycheck half assing it are going to be in for a rude awakening in the coming years and they'd be better off looking for a new career now (while they're still young and don't have too huge gaps in their resumes) or getting their asses in gear (and putting in the effort of guys like Huk) from the wake up call of getting booted from your team. They are not going to be able to just skate by on their name or the fact that they were hired early on anymore if BW A teamers come over, there will be too many amazing players and so not enough money to go around for mediocre ones. Time to separate the boys from the men, harsh reality of a competition based profession like progaming but they signed up for the job.
