So yea, this thread has been done before but as the original thread is no longer being updated (confirmed by orig. author) I decided that I would take the time to re-organize and re-format the organization of this tool. What with the lack of ability to have search results for channels in sc2 I would also like to propose some generic channels dedicated to things such as practice, custom maps, obs (league practice channels and custom MOTM/new map games for instance, or KOTH etc...) so that there's less time looking for these things.

Overall Note
I have tried to organize this as well as I can think of, but I am always open to suggestions on improving the format/nomenclature/etc.. This should be a thread that is incredibly helpful, and not only moderately so, so if you have suggestions feel free to PM me about improvements, after all, this is about helping the entire community.

A note on the 'new' practice channels and a call to arms:
So I'm sort of making an executive decision for everyone here by setting some standardized names for these channels, the idea being that if we all try to use these for 1v1 practice, hopefully more people will start joining and we can begin to develop a robust practice community. It's much better than the current status quo considering we can't see or search for active channels in game at the moment... This also won't really get traction without your involvement in using them, so the community very important in making this happen! Ultimately with the formatting and success of a recent practice channel I felt that it would be a smart decision to format these channels based upon the existing one. If on the chance that this really takes off and there's enough people to hit the 100 pop cap, for example if you wanted Diamond+ Practice, following previous examples, type in "Diamond+ Practice2" to start a new channel or join a non-full one. Wait, so 1v1 Community map Channel?
The reason I put it here was that in BW all you had to do was host the map in a channel, but with the impenetrable ladder, this has become more difficult to do so I wanted to designate a place where you can go to play on newer maps. Want to play on Cloud Kingdom, or Clearwater? Now you have a place to host/obs and check out what the amazing mapmaking community is doing!

Community Help
When listing a channel, tell me what server and what type of channel it is so I can put it in its appropriate place (use format below for clarity). I'd also like to apologize to everyone outside of the AM server as I don't have any other acct and couldn't verify if the channels in the other thread were active ones or not, so I'll need your help with re-populating them. Also, if a channel is listed that you know isn't being used, let me know so that I can remove them.

Black & Bold: practice/obs/scrimmage channel
Blue: lounge/community channel
Green: team/clan channel
Red: language specific channel

Note: please see the poll to voice your opinion on the names for the practice/obs channels. I had a good conversation with another TL'er about this and couldn't decide on which one was more preferrable.

My first question also would be, how many people would use a 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 channel and what format to use in the event that was the case? Please suggest some ideas, but we should have standardized formats between the matchups.

Edit: Oh I probably should have specified TLPP would be shorthand for TL Practice Partner in the poll.

I would use a 2:2-->4:4 channel but dunno about the format. Think it should be broad to get an active channel.

I hate how Blizzard turned battle.net into an abyss...

You have all these achievements, stats, etc, and I remember in Bw, people would enter channels and faces would literally 'turn' when you would see someone with 'ladder points' or a different banner or an illegal name, etc.

Now, you just sit there and hit 'find match', I don't even know if UMS exists anymore(no more 'custom maps' channel),

What happened to channel sex on U.S. West? That was the part of the gaming 'experience', getting onto broodwar, joining a channel, double-clicking names and reading profiles and whispering people.

I remember all the 'specifically-chat-only' channels in the old battle.net, Town Square, Sex, Sex2, Kiwi, Op Op, Blizzard Chat, custom maps, Clan x17,

people wouldn't even play the fucking game, they would just sit in the channel till their name was at the very top and just talk smack all day and night.

I miss it so.

I think it would be nice if you could add language-specific channels to that list as well.
In Sweden we have (EU server ofc):

I was thinking of maybe just having one channel for all team games, and if it actually filled up, then to parse it out more (maybe separate 2v2, and put 3v3 and 4v4 together)? Maybe just 2v2/3v3/4v4 as the name, Arranged Teams (or just AT), or Team Games, with, or without the XvX?

~~I'm thinking this would be more of a pertinent question for the EU/linguistically diverse crowd (obv reasons) but what do other people think about this?~~ Nevermind, I decided to add it. If it turns out that they aren't being used, just let me know if any of these channels go defunct.

Oops, sorry about that, I forgot I stopped visiting sc2sverige a while ago, and apparently they've stopped as well... I got it all mixed up with another channel. sc2sverige is dead from what I can tell.
swe.sc2 is still active though!
