He might have a bit more skill, but lumping him in with them is fine, as he hasn't accomplished jack.
EG's accomplished players are Puma/idra/huk and JYP.
Lumping in demuslim with them is even more unfair.

Except Demuslim was out for months with a broken hand. The point is that Demuslim/Idra/Huk/JYP/Puma deserve to be on the team, whereas the rest don't in terms of skill.

More excuses. Broken hand or not, he would not have won anything. Or even be able to perform vs top notch players.

Teams aren't constructed purely based on skill. Korean proteams have like 20 players... only 5-6 get used regularly in clanwars and make the GSL runs -- doesn't mean that the other 15 don't deserve to be on the team.
What a silly attitude to have if you think Lz/Machine/Axslav/Strife don't deserve to be there

Everyone on a team doesn't always have to be a "star."
Seems to me like EG is doing a good job of assembling a group of players that fit their team vision and can accomplish the team goals at a variety of levels. As eSports grow and the teams and sponsorships increase a lot more factors play a role in team creation other than just simply trying to get the best 4-6 players possible and dumping any player that hasnt won a recent tournament.
I appreciate the professional and business like approach EG takes to eSports. It will ultimately help raise the bar for all foreign based teams and benefit all pro players as well. The lack of appreciation of team dynamics and understanding of business in this thread is ridiculous... But maybe a lot of people on TL haven't played team sports or taken a business/Eco class...

That's complete horseshit. He was performing well before his broken arm and has performed well when he's got back into shape since the injury. IdrA said he was one of the best foreign macro-orientated Terrans period and EG signed him on IdrA's recommendation. He was EG's ace in clan wars when they could choose either IdrA or PuMa. He'd have performed well against top notch players. You're just spouted absolute crap and trying to trivialise an injury that would so obviously affect anybody.

Anyone who marginally knows how EG works could have seen this coming. They wouldn't pass on the opportunity to add a player who was teamless yet competiting in the hardest league in the world. That's how EG does it. The $ figure works a thon. I think you might have missed the other thread. Yes, first everyone thought about JYP, because he was teamless, but after the silhouette it was all about grubby, moon, boxer and savior^^ and you might have missed the TL-thread about Zenio, lol but what do you mean with "knows how EG works"? One didn't need to read a bunch of opinions on dozens of posts to figure out it was JYP. Since the release of SC2, EG has never once signed a players 'cause of his potential or personality. Leave the whole "he fits perfectly into our team strategy and shares the same thoughts we do as to what the team goals and direction is" easy and politically correct kind of talk out of this. They sign players based on a combination of two things: accomplishment history and popularity. Look at their signings previous to JYP. IdrA, DeMuslim, Puma and HuK. IdrA was at the time by far the most well known and achieving foreign player in SC and a pivotal figure in E-Sports. DeMuslim is a legend in the whole RTS genre. Puma had just won the NASL Season 1 and HuK has always been a fan favorite plus he is an excellent player. This being said, what I meant with "this is how EG works" is that they don't look at expenses to make the best move marketing wise. They want EG to be at the top of the most of the revelant E-Sports related competitions. JYP was the only player that made sense for them to adquire at this point. Moon is back playing WC3 and has no accomplishments in SC2. Killer is in Code A and it would be an enormous risk to sign him provided he could easily fall into Code B. Grubby is a foreigner version of Moon. And when I say "marketing wise", I they don't take chances on players that can someday be good. They bet on sure things and safe values so that they can keep EG's name at the top. And before you start ramparting on me, I don't mean to say this is an incorrect or less noble managing strategy. This is the path they chose and thus far they've had tremendous success with it. There's nothing wrong with signing the best players.
JYP signed with EG while he was still in Code A. It's just that the announcement came after he made Code S.

Are you kidding lol? you obviously didn't follow the scene at all a year ago if you think DeMu wouldn't have won anything without his injury. He was easily top 2 EU terran with Sjow and consistantly placed high and qualified for damn near every large EU tournament. He was COMPLETELY outclassing many of his opponents and had been since beta, he may not be winning anything now but you'd have to be extremely myopic to have that view of this time last year.

Congrats to EG on their new addition. Should be pretty cool seeing JYP and how he performs.

damn EG is looking solid these days

I'm starting to realise over in Korea this is like any other sport we have in the west.

Good person for HuK to practice with PvP and also work on PvX builds with. In his recent interview with Seltzer he was talking about the lack of Protoss in the SlayerS house, aside from all the other great things there. No shortage of Terran's, I'm sure.
I wonder who Idra, on a side note, is going to practice ZvZ with? He will need to find a good 3 or 4 Koreans to play with to practice for his upcoming gracket of doom.

Hey remember when Curious did really poorly in a lot of GSTL matches and looked really weak? I hear he's doing pretty well. Or how about Haypro? People spent nearly a YEAR giving that guy shit until MLG Providence. Players improve, and their teams keep them around for a reason.
A team member's worth isn't just in pure results, it's also in how helpful they can be as practice partners, or how much potential they might have down the road. Machine, Axslav, and Strife specifically have been playing notably better as of late, even if they're not a favorite going into a tournament.
It boggles my mind how people are seemingly incapable of seeing a player's worth beyond the last few months' tournament results.
