With the holiday season wrapping up, I think the entire eSports scene has something to gain from a little bit of philanthropy. So, on January 2nd I am going to be running a 24 hour charity stream to raise money for Child's Play!
To make things a bit more interesting, I'm inviting any members of the eSports community that want to participate to do so. Come chat with your fans, play team games, and generally have fun for charity! It's a win-win situation.

I feel compelled to point out that Frodan --> Brodan at the earliest possible moment. Also I didn't see this in the TL upcoming events calendar: any idea on how to fix that?
How does the fund raising part work? Do you donate all proceeds from ads to childs play? Or are you only encouraging us to go to the website and donate?
But...but...There's so many people (and TL Staff) coming to it! And it's for CHARITY!!! #KillingESPORTS...
Maybe they would accept it if you had a prize ($$) for a showmatch or something like that. That way it would be a "tournament/showmatch" and might be eligible for the Upcoming events ticker...
I think TL probably doesn't want to feature it because there's been so many charity streams lately. It's one thing for an established player with a fanbase to do it where they are guaranteed viewers and money for charity, but it's different when it's not a known person. It's hard to tell if someone is being genuine about it or just doing it for stream views. Not accusing you of this, but I just don't think charity streams are worth it unless it's from a known person already. There's been a charity stream saturation lately.

Sorry but there are quite a few well known people involved in this. Thus they should add it. I would suggest trying again.

Absolutely not. I am not a partner on Justin.tv thus I will not be making any ad revenue. If I was, it would all be going to Child's Play for the duration of the event.

Having Spina Bifida, I've spent a lot of my childhood in hospitals having an operation at least yearly until I was 12. The only thing I really remember though is playing Super Mario Land and Megaman on my gameboy. I like those memories. Child's Play is a great concept for a charity.

I do have one complaint about your stream Mahe. You spend a lot of time hyping up having popular people on, like totalbiscuit, but at the same time you belittle the people you already have on. It almost feels like an assembly line wherein you don't care about the pieces in between. When guys like Phrank are volunteering their time to help your charity stream i wish you would treat them with a little more respect, and not say stuff like "when someone popular comes on we will get more money." The focus needs to be on the current guest, not the next guest.. >.<

That only shows featured streams. Events aren't listed as featured live streams, but they are in the calendar and hence on the panel on the right near the top.
I'm feeling really physically ill (running on 4 hours of sleep, been eating like shit all day and drinking energy drinks etc) so I'm having to call it at 20 hours. I feel really bad and I'm going to make it up to you guys in the near future.

I know it isn't a huge amount, but considering it's something we kind of threw together at the last possible minute, I'm pretty happy!

I know I thanked them all on the stream but a BIG thanks to all of my guests who showed up, and a big apology to the guests who didn't come on the show due to the early finish. This event wouldn't have been possible without all of you, and I can't even begin to express how awesome it is that figures in the esports community take time out of their extremely busy lives to support a community effort such as this.
Specifically I'd like to thank Totalbiscuit for drawing such a huge crowd and a large portion of our donations, as well as SirScoots for giving a really, REALLY awesome interview that everyone should check out once the VOD is out. Of course, all of our guests were amazing.

You guys were all so amazing. In total, we raised $1,224.37 for Child's Play Charity!
I learned a lot from working on this charity event.
Just because lesser known guests aren't like the SirScoots', HuK's, or White-Ra's, doesn't mean they're not a valuable part of eSports. I know that they're easy to overlook, but I still respect the lower level people doing everything for eSports. As long as they're genuine about it, every B-teamer, every small independent caster, every chat-mod and behind-the-scene coordinator is the backbone of eSports.
What impressed me the most is the accessibility of professional players and their willingness to give their time to charity. When MahE told me about this event, I was really excited to see the power of eSports helping charity. Without thinking much about it, I messaged QuanticFlo, and a couple of other people on Twitter asking if they'd check it out. I was astonished when she and many others messaged me back letting me know they'd love to help! After that pro-gamers, hosts, SC2 community members, casters and basically everyone who could accepted my invitations. Thanks especially to TotalBiscuit who brought a massive number of viewers and donators raising almost $500 in under an hour, and CombatEX who donated $100 after his appearance.
There were bumps along the way, but over all things went well. We had wonderful guests, fun games, lots of viewers amazingly generous donations, awesome interviews, and a great time! Thanks to everyone who participated, either by watching, being a guest, organizing things, and especially donating. Also to MahE for making the impossible possible.
tl;dr We are all eSports and it is amazing what we can do!
I found out today that he used to restream GSL. What the hell is up with that? He doesn't sound like a quality member of the community if he does stuff like that.
Also, the event described in the story happened years ago, and is ENTIRELY UNRELATED to the charity event money, which never touched me. I did not want to middle man the money specifically to avoid this kind of discussion.
EDIT: As the donations did not come from me, it will be hard to verify that it was my event providing the donations at the time, but I will gladly provide a list of donators and times if Child's Play is willing to make a statement.
This is completely out of line and blatantly false.
Any attempts to slander the event are just trolls and should be ignored.
What primadog asked was in no means slander. The community has a right no confirm that someone who does a charity event actually donates the money that they received from the event. In no way is primadog slandering your event, just merely confirming that you did what you said you would. Also, I still don't see a transfer that amounts to the total you received from the event.

The reddit post has now been removed because the accusations are 100% baseless.
I have received a response from Child's Play. Jamie Dillion, Project Manager, has confirmed Child's Play received all the fund raised. The accusation from the Reddit post was baseless and slander. Below is a copy of the E-mail I received:

Thank you so much for getting in touch with your concerns. We appreciate knowing that the community is looking out for us! We worked with mahE before the event and ensured his ChipIn widget was set up to donate directly to Child's Play. I just double-checked and we did receive the donated funds. I've be posted on the Reddit thread regarding this issue (http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/owefj/mahes_24_hour_charity_stream_has_failed_to_donate/), but if you could also post this on any relevant forum threads I would greatly appreciate it.
"We have recently been contacted regarding some concerns with a recent stream run by MahE of the Starcraft 2 esports community. First of all, we appreciate knowing that the community is looking out for us - if you ever have questions regarding a Child's Play fundraiser, please feel free to get in touch with me (Jamie, jdillion@childsplaycharity.org). MahE did work with us previous to the fundraiser to set up a ChipIn widget that fit our specifications, which includes donating directly to our Paypal account. The donations gathered during the stream did not at any point pass through any 3rd party: they were donated directly to Child's Play.
