Hey folks
we just wanted to let you know, that we will have our Qualifier Cups for HomeStoryCup 4 in the next few day and everyone can participate.
Here are some interesting facts about the main event:
-15.000 Dollar pricepool
-4 days mainevent
-Exclusive catering for the players provided by a professional cook
-And a lot more

It will be casted by Ben "Mr.Bitter" Nichol, Kevin "RotterdaM" Van der Kooi and Dennis "TaKe" Gehlen.

The top 3 of every cup will get a slot in the tournament. If you win one of our tournaments, your whole trip will be paid, including your flight your hotel near to the event.

Does that mean that 2nd and 3rd place don't get flight and accomodation paid? Doesn't look very promising to many koreans then I guess, anyway good job :D

It's already great, that they support the 1st and offer three region qualifiers! And all this with the relatively small TakeTV team, compared to the other major hitting tournaments! You guys are doing an amazing job!

Btw, gogo we need some more for the Korean (and US) qualifier!

Nvm. I imagined there being a previous announcement which said that that the top 2 players for each qualifier would get everything paid when there were still 6 qualifier slots. But It could be a mistake on my part. Anyways keep up the great work :D

Take is one guy theres only so much money he has to offer. I doubt there is much profit for him. I hope alot of koreans participate and hope people advertise this to the koreans because sometimes its just about exposure.

Ya that's awesome, glad to hear that you have the budget to do such things. Plus, these qualifiers look like fun! I'm so glad that you give the opportunity for less established players to earn a chance to play with the big guns, and that you're not just inviting the same old, same old.

Can we expect the same style format for the actual cup? For example: players as casters? Hopefully someone will be there to take photos throughout the event as well. This is actually one of my favorite tournaments!

I like Rotterdam but please, please don't let him control the camera. He moves it around 20 times per second, clicks everything he sees and makes more boxes than there are in CS.

I cant describe how much i'm looking forward to this, every homestyory cup has been better than the last and the first was already the best tournement I had ever seen.

make sure you get rotti pissed and keep the relaxed atmosphere which has made homestory cup such a memorable event .

Hey TaKe, HSC3 was awesome. I can't go to HSC4 so I won't be playing the qualifier, but I just wanted to say gl with HSC4 and congrats on being able to make it bigger and better!

Top 3 or 1st?

From what was posted, top 3 qualifies and top 1 gets their trip paid. So #2 and #3 will have to pay for their own flight / hotel.

Did TakeSen say 50 euros for HD pass to all the qualifiers, the main tournament, and the VODS? Thats pushing it I think...

50€ is almost a years worth of premium GSL matches...

From Take`s homepage: "For all of those who stayed at home, we will have two special HD offers. For 7.50 € you will be able to watch the qualifiers and the main event. For those of you who are too busy during the holidays to watch it all, we also offer the possibility to purchase a pass for the main event only, which will cost 5 €. So, for 7.50 €, you can sit comfortably on your couch and watch Starcraft 2 on our high quality stream." So it`s not 50€, but i didn`t saw the video.

You also have to consider it being a live event (the main event) spanning over several days and it's only the winners that get the trip paid. I think that itself limits the amount of players that signs up for the qualifiers.

I really think the most fun I've ever had watching a SC2 tournament was during HSC3. Great atmosphere, awesome casting, very good games, and probably the best LR thread ever, with no balance whine or drama (aside from Rotterdam being chastised for being mean to Nightend rofl). Take definitely has my money and viewership for HSC4.

Wait, do you have to live in NA to use the qualifier? A lot of Koreans are using it even though I don't think they're in NA.

They said on-stream that the servers crashed due to overload and they're working on getting the brackets up, and they asked that people stop spam-refreshing while they work on it because the site's stressed enough as is and keeps going back down.

Come on TL please front page this.

This is like one of the main tournaments of 2012 so it's not good to miss this or not give it the appropriate attention. Or even its qualifiers.

Please don't miss this TL.

Tomorrow after the EU Qualifier (16.00 CET). Take said that he is exspecting it to start rougly at 23.00 CET! But that was only his thought on how long the EU Qualifier will take.

Very unfortunate that beginning of HSC IV are so bad, I hope they will be prepared for massive server spam at next qualifiers and mostly a lot of viewers on main event... It would be huge if they fail again

Hopefully it works today, would be nice because there are so many nice players.

And I saw that there are some sick new players in the Korea qualifier like TSL_Alive, July, Bomber.

Going to be sick.

Statement on taketv.net

Tonight, we had to reschedule the US qualifier for the HomeStoryCup due to technical problems. First of all, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience this caused for both the players and our viewers. Unfortunately, several errors added up and the situation went out of control.

It all started with a bug on the site which prevented people from checking in. And if things couldn't get any worse, this was followed by an immediate server failure. Just as we were fixing the server from a backup, it crashed again, almost in an instant, due to flooding. Finally, after more than one hour, the server was back up, but this time the grid was not legit, because a lot of people couldn't check in.

Realizing that the situation had passed the point of no return we decided to re-schedule the entire US Qualifier to

SATURDAY, DEC 17th, 2011
11:00 pm CET (5:00pm EST - 4:00pm CST)

Again, we would like to apologize to all of you for the inconvenience. We are doing our best to ensure that all other qualifiers will run flawlessly, and put on a great show for all of you.

As our apology, we would like to announce another player for the Homestory Cup: Evil Geniuses’ Puma will take part in the tournament, so you can look forward to even more high-level StarCraft II action.

It claims that it is full, though. And from previous experience with ESL tourneys it ends with it saying "full" after the check-in period.

The US qualifier on the ESL site requires an EU account to sign up, must be a mistake? Hope it can be fixed soon.

An earlier and more visible note of using the ESL site instead of taketv would have been nice. I only looked at the grid on taketv so I didn't notice I had to sign in via ESL.

I checked-in as soon as possible at 15:30 CET but I didn't notice the change at all. So either it wasn't there at the time or I didn't pay enough attention. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there.

edit: Now you can't even access the Cup section on taketv which I could when I checked-in 30 minutes before the event.

I don't think that i will hear back, but i think in the end u just have to enter ur NA nick#Code as EU account.
This info is used by the tour system to show ur SC2 nick#code on the match page.

Else go for support via IRC(from TakeTV page)

If you have any problems or questions, visit #taketv.gaming @quakenet for support.

which if you already have one, they dont change instantly(or atleast they didnt use to, not sure atm as its been awhile). meaning that any NA player that has an EU account on ESL will have issues.

U are right of course, but i also didn't see a possibility to enter NA details on ESL EU page.
U should go to the IRC support and bug them

The first post still gives the wrong link.

To sign up, do this (its pretty easy now):

How to sign up for the NA qualifier:

1.
go to http://www.esl.eu/eu/sc2/1on1/hsciv_us_qualifer/
If it says "Begin: 16:00 CEST", dont worry, the begin is 23:00 CEST, in 2 hours and 20 minutes from now

2.
Press "Sign in"

3.
you will get a message that you "have to w8 for an admin" to confirm youre an Americas citizen

4.
Some minutes later (depending on the speed of an admin) you will automatically be signed in.

5.
make sure you check in 20 minutes before the cup. The Check-in button will appear where the Sign-in button was before 20 minutes before the match. You will still have the chance to do a "late sign in" 10 minutes till 5 minutes before the cup starts and then automatically be checked in.

I have a question... well TaKe said that Dimaga has a invite and plays the tournament for flight and stuff.
Are DarkHydra and Adelscott both qualified now?

Hey, what's up with Mr. Bitter. I'm not trashing him, he just sounds like he took a couple too many caps of cough syrup.

What a disappointment the US Qualifier was, run by one of the least helpful and professional tournament staffs out there.

Well they have been casting 12 hours straight, so its kind of understandable.

Korean qualifiers starting in 2 hours, I wonder who will participate. The player list is kind of still empty for me...
http://www.esl.eu/eu/sc2/1on1/hsciv_kr_qualifer/database/members/*/

hope squirtle really intends on participating as he said in the irc and didn't just misunderstand something.

edit:

Adelscott is qualified anyways because he is third. And I really hope DarkHydra is as well!

I'm pretty sure that's not how it's going to be. Take mentioned he has several people on standby who will be invited if he doesn't get the 32 player list full. So I assume he'll rather invite those instead of some nonames.

That's a shame, at least those nonames bothered to particpate in the qualifiers and had a nice run assuming they placed high. :-(

The 3 qualifiers are finished and now I'm thinking of...is there any backup plan?
I mean for place 2 and 3 (or further replacements). If they and/or their teams decide it's not worth paying the trip to Germany.
And additionally the koreans: Will they get a visa within 2 weeks?

Worst case: Instead of 8 players, there will only be 2 showing up. The paid trip from America and Europe.

edit: Thx kochujang. So the worst case is 3 and not 2. American, European and Korean paid trip.

The Koreans do not need any visa, at least not for travelling to Germany.
