SC2 is negligible both in China and South Korea compared to War3 and BW, respectively. However, Korea has a huge advantage in having a bigger SC2 scene and having BW, which is in every manner a pro sport in Korea, as the model for how to practice and organize (particularly team houses and regimens), etc. Not to forget that the bigname SC2 Korean players are BW veterans, albeit most were quite subpar BW players at the time of switching, except perhaps ForGG (although even he was on the verge to falling B-Team, though it's not surprising when Flash and Mind are on your team).

That said, if War3 dies tomorrow in China, and all the War3 players switch to SC2, I can see China region being the 2nd best in the world in SC2 after Korea. Now? They're kinda meh. Sure, they're probably better than NA (excluding Huk and maybe Idra), but that's not saying too much .

Now when BW is converted to SC2 in Korea? First, kiss all the current SC2 Korean stars goodbye (yes, even I will dearly miss some of them), and secondly, good Korean players will be untouchable by foreigners.

Well, good luck to the Chinese GSTL team. I don't know if they can stand up to many of the Korean teams, but we'll see :S.

Maybe it won't even matter since the GSTL doesn't have the same Olympic feeling that WCG has.

which WCG is that?

Sorry, that only happened in your dream. As far as I know, the chinese love Sen a lot.

Yep -- there's a lot of hate on Taiwan in general but noone sees a Taiwanese player as "oh ew he's from Taiwan."

The Chinese only get mad at WCG when a Taiwanese person gets a medal and gets to hold up the "Chinese Taipei" flag. They don't like the fact that Taiwan is represented by a flag as they don't recognize it as a sovereign country.

The Chinese Government doesn't, but the people do not represent the government.

Though I don't know what regular Chinese Citizen's opinion of Taiwan is though.
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88

maybe SaSe can play on that team since he has sent a couple of years in China? I could see this team doing well without him.

I hope XiGua, 91, LoveTT, LoveCD, MacSed, Loner, among others.

Also, F91 was casting GSL with the normal NeoTV guy yesterday. He said he wasn't afraid of MVP (on ladder) and has beaten him on ladder (not big deal, but fun to know).

As for China vs/inc Taiwan, the Mainland populace is a split between "One China, it's a province of China and it always has been and always will be." and "Why didn't my grandpa go with the KMT to Taiwan way back when? TT" We love them mostly as brethren though, their music, their movies, their TV, and their progamer(s), just that some of us can't accept them as a sovereign nation. Just seems the Mainland (people and government) sort of are fine with the status quo that is Taiwanese ambiguity.

(Inappropriate but most suitable analogy I can think of: Democrats and Republicans engage in civil war, Dems drive GOP to Alaska. GOP claim Alaskan independence, Dems claim One USA! China sells weapons to Alaska.)

I'd say that the vast majority of Chinese people, young and old, naturally and instinctively recognize Taiwan as a part of China.

on my part I see Taiwan as chinese and not taiwanese as my relatives originally came from Shandong after civil war. I cheer for every chinese player as well as for Sen.
