I don't think I've ever been cheesed by Avilo, even on ladder, if that helps
Avilo pretty much acts like a child on ladder, it can't be denied. His style is 100% geared towards the most boring variety of SC2 games from a spectator's standpoint. It's honestly painful to sit through his longer games.

I'm guessing the all-ins (if that is true) are probably vs protoss. Seems like he goes mech and does the cut-the-map-in-half/mass turret stuff in TvT.
Congrats, I don't really understand why people hating on Avilo. Sure he hasnt achieved much, but who knows maybe he'll start to show results if he's provided with a good practice environment

tbh most on LgN are assholes except the koreans and trump. idrone, desrow, now avilo apparently they dont care about manner when picking up players.
on a side note i actually watched avilo play incontrol (both were streaming) and avilo bm'd incontrol because he 4 gated him. avilo was offracing as zerg why would incontrol waste his time playing normal vs someone whos fooling around.

he is one of the more innovative Terran I've watched playing on Ladder. He constantly tries new things, plays alot and have ton of potential.
and I pretty much follow every single Terran out there that streams. Have you ever watched a game of Avilo's stream? His playstyle is quite entertaining, I don't think I've ever see another Terran that does banshees/reapers and thors more than him, even in TvZ

He likes to play a safe macro oriented style, but he has no confidence in his TvP so he does a lot of all ins vs protoss.
That is precisely my point. You have a player who is constantly BM on your team, not just while streaming his ladder games or whatever, but also in tournament matches, yet you're trying to ridicule a team for picking a BM player up.

IdrA pulls literally thousands of times more viewers to his stream than Avilo. Hes also made literally thousands of times more in prize money. I'm sure even you can think of a few more reasons why it might be beneficial to have idrA on your team and not Avilo.

I'm not sure wtf he does against protoss, but every time I see his TvZ he literally almost dies like 50 times in the mid-game, and then comes back to win in the late-game, so I dunno, I see him turtle up a lot in situations when other players would have already left, but he wins a lot of those games.

I don't think Avilo has a reputation of being BM at lans or even online tourneys.
Contrary to popular belief all of the "pros" are not "good mannered" angels 100% of the time, including yourself incontrol who regularly finds it convenient to be a "good boy" when promoting yourself, and then justifies shit talking other players (your posts in this thread an example) + being a hypocrit as all "funs and jokes and 'humor'." You seem to do that quite often...^_^
I do not pretend or put up the facade that i am 100% "good mannered" as I am human and I do bad manner/get frustrated at times with the game as I improve + hit walls and try to get over them. So yes, I do talk shit sometimes all in good fun and to let off steam although i'm glad you felt the need to come into this thread and try to bring me down somehow instead of a "congrats" or simply better yet, saying nothing.
Though, you seem to be a follower of me for sometime now on TL, but shouldn't you be putting these posting efforts towards more practice the EG house that EG has so graciously set up for you to play in? I remember our last TvPs on ladder...i won them...and to think i'm just a simple lowly ladder warrior with zero practice partners on the NA server, who at the time brainstorms strategies with no one but myself...you would think someone in a position such as yourself with such great talent at your disposal would improve at at much quicker rate...anyways...sorry this thread wasn't about you incontrol...i joined a team...yeah...thanks for the support!
I'm happy i'm on a team now and I will get good practice with LGN guys and I plan to keep improving as much as possible and I will be streaming a hell of a lot as well like I currently have been thanks to people that watch/support me, and I hope I can be an asset to LGN as well !

On the contrary, each of his games last an hour and it's early game for avilo until 20 minute mark.
But it's a fact that avilo is notorious for his whining skills rather than his gameplay (bitching about TvZ when Terrans had like 85% winrate in the matchup takes some pretty gosu whining skills).
It's also pretty funny that they acquired a new PR guy along with him.
Despite what anyone thinks, most of the players I see in the lineup are really hardworking guys and there's no doubt in my mind that we'll start seeing results after a few months of dedicated practice.

I like that there's random people that think i "all-in" and then there's random people that think i play turtle macro style. For me as a player that is great that other players cannot assume i only play 1 way and prepare for it the truth is I play a lot of different styles / builds.

To everyone saying he is boring, please take the time to check out his stream, as you will see that he experiments like CRAZY! I got some ideas from him to do Sky TvP, and I now use his 3 hellion drop into cloak banshee opening quite often as well. I am merely scraping the surface of the amount of cleverness Avilo displays during his screen-time.

However, If you play Protoss, stay away from the stream. Possibly if you are Zerg, too, if you're very easily offended.
Calling legion a "pro team" is a huge stretch no matter how great your imagination. Not to flame or anything, but they're all ladder players and I see no potential for anything more to come of it. Oh well, if being in a clan or whatever makes people feel more successful, that's more people playing the game I suppose . As far as avilo is concerned, midget or not, he's pretty much just a very gimmicky player. I haven't heard of him winning a BoX at any major event or anything like that. Maybe one of those players people know about only through watching streams or something? Ladder and streams is important for a lot of people, even more so than actual results and money. They just want to be recognized for playing a lot and if you can't master the game, you can always play gimmicky and get some TL kids to watch you.
Not all in or whatever, just gimmicky . . . I wish you luck and I hope you can someday break through and become a top player, but you really need to work on beating good players consistently if you want to make it far in tournaments.
I would be interested, however, to see avilo make some VoDs and commentate a few of his games for us and post them up so we can hear him talking about what he's thinking about. Would that be possible? I think the community would enjoy that.
The first time I saw avilo stream he did an 11 11 rax opener against zerg and built like 3 - 4 bunkers while playing the "Bob The Builder". It was hilarious and I have checked in on his stream ever since. He is right up there with ThisIsJimmy as guys I hope do well. There is not a lot of NA terrans playing at a high level and these guys have potential.
Avilo is like that guy who calls matt damon/drew barrymore but he can't cheat on his other monitor because his scream mask limits vision so he isn't quite a deezer. And no, I'm not trying to say avilo cheats.
This decision was made in an attempt to try and market to the thousands of trolls who love hearing their own closeted bigotry expressed by raging mad teenagers and young adults.
People should try to copy idra and destiny because that's where the money is, good luck.
I hope I never become good enough at this game to join a pro team because all that would happen is I would get a topic full of people stating why I'm bad and why it's a terrible pickup by a terrible team

Desrow gets more shit than he deserves. He is overweight so people find it easy to attack him. He comes on the forums a lot to defend himself and sometimes comes away looking bad because he sometimes tries to fight fire with fire. But his motivation for this game really can't be questioned.
Avilo on the other hand, I'm inclined to agree a bit. He is a very talented player, but 95% of the PR I see from him is bitching about TvP. It just comes across as petty in my opinion. I'm aware that their are other professional gamers that whine about balance a lot (Idra for an easy example) but someone like Idra is already a brand and can pretty much do what he wants. Avilo isn't.
I personally don't have a problem with people being BM in games, I think it adds another element to the game that is enjoyable for the spectator. So, in my opinion, that's a non-issue. If I were a team picking up new players, I would want someone whos main goal was to be the best player they could be, not someone whos priorities are complaining about a matchup on the forums. Desrow definitely isn't a bad player and it's pretty cool how much he streams etc., but that doesn't change the fact that his defensiveness on the forums and a few incidents that got public (weird team changes, weird coaching habits) just comes across kinda douchey. I'm just not enjoying his personality.

ummm actually, as a GM zerg player i can honestly say that avilo is quite cheesy and BM at times. not the best player, but i hope with good practice partners on legion he can change this! definitely has got potential, no doubt about that.

I've watched him coach and am extremely impressed with his teaching ability. He's innovative and obviously enjoys the game.
It aggravates me to see all the haters come out of the woodwork when something good happens to someone else.

You still didn't really answer my question. Seeing as you've been a fan of his for awhile, what are his results? I simply ask because I've never heard of him, and I try to keep somewhat grounded in the NA scene.

yea we all hate him for no reason. not because hes constantly bm, uses a cheesy style, and is probably the meanest person ive ever matched on the ladder (probably played him 10 times. obviously no good reason to hate him ^^
the reason i bring this up is i think teams don't do enough research on these players. I'm sure when signing these players avilo was not acting like a child and was being very polite, but behind the scenes hes really one bad mannered guy.

If you've never heard of him you're not paying that close attention to the NA scene. He's always been GM (usually top 100)
He doesn't have many major tournament results, he wins a bunch of local lans. He has some holes in his play and in my opinion can be a quite stubborn player but is quite capable of beating pretty much anyone on a good day.

He takes bad stuff really to himself, and he keeps trying and trying anyway, and he is good, but can't refine himself without a chance, without someone believing in him.
This is just a step forward to try to sort things out for him.

the reason i bring this up is i think teams don't do enough research on these players. I'm sure when signing these players avilo was not acting like a child and was being very polite, but behind the scenes hes really one bad mannered guy.

yea when you're a 13 year old kid who plays for fun all it is is about owning your opponent, because you have no obligations to anyone.
Hes on a TEAM. Hes representing a brand. Avilo is the last guy I'd want representing me, and I strongly question his teams business model if this is the kind of guy they want on their team.

last time i looked at teh GM list i think you ranked ~150.
this makes me wonder why Incontrol gets "dissappointed" when losing to players at the top or the NA, EU, and Korean ladders at high profile MLG events.
and even his explanations about how "close he was" to "almost winning games against the world's best players at MLG seem hollow. Keeping in mind he is losing multiple games to a player without practise partners, not on a team and ~150th on the NA ladder. The NA ladder is generally considered the weakest of the EU, Korea, NA group.
With these kinds of results in mind wouldn't Incontrol's horrific win rate at the last 5 MLGs be completely expected?

Yeah, i definitely agree with you to an extent. Being BM in game doesn't mean the player is satan and he very well could be an absolutely nice person in real life, but just lets his frustration and anger get the best of him.
That said though, I think it shows a level of maturity, respect and control to those players who even though frustrated refrain from spewing nonsense at their opponent. So it is nicer to see players who are able to maintain that composure as opposed to those who do not.
People like avilo remind me of Terrell Owens (NFL Wide Receiver for anybody who doesn't know). Basically he's one of the rudest, spoiled, brats in the entire league, and everybody knows it. Yet, despite his awful interviews--in which he often blames his mistakes or the team's mistakes on single players--he's still one of the best WRs out there. So he gets picked up by team after team and eventually gets into an argument with staff or other players which leads to the end of his contract. Another player in the SC community similar could be NaNiwa before he got his act together, as he was constantly hopping from one team to the next. Hopefully avilo winds up like nani and not T.O. though. Good luck to avilo and LgN, their team is getting some real talent!
