He's a perfect guy for a coach... can play at a high level, very smart analysis, and has the best starcraft memory hands down.... that dude can recall every move every player has ever made in a torunament game, name the series, game, tournament.... invaluable for training players for specific matchups.

While I don't doubt Gretorp's ability and resolve, I think it's a lot more difficult to coach a team that's spread out all over the place rather than all living in the same apartment.

This is most definitely true but that doesn't mean it can't be done. While it is true he can't watch over their shoulders all the time, luckily all you need these days is Skype and remote access to go through a reply with somebody. Having an analytical guy to systematically analyze your replays with can be a great help in seeing and improving your weaknesses. Or going over the replays of your next opponent to analyze his play style / weaknesses for that matter.

On top of that a coach can provide a lot of support / comfort when he's around on the live tournaments (aside from talking with you about your last / next game obviously). He can take care of a lot of little things so you as a player don't need to think about them and can fully focus on your next match.

So yeah although it's a lot harder as in Korea, if you have a team that accepts such a coach, he could provide additional value imo. If it is enough to validate this decision we will just have to wait and see.

Wonder if he'll keep calling Hwangsin "Queso Boy".. :D

Good move though. Gosu is getting immensely stronger every time they announce something.

Cant really see the point in a coach in something that isnt a team house environment, all the best to him regardless.

He was a brilliant player, I guess after casting for so long and with it being such a time commitment he isnt as good as he once was. Shame really, the same way that im sure geoff would be doing as good as he did at 2011 dallas if he didnt do that stint in casting

I remember Gretorp streaming with Kawaiirice and giving him a hard time about how bad his macro was... it was his factory/starport timing being off with his barrack's reactor making... It was GODLIKE.

Surely we're not the only ones who applaud his decision to become a coach... but are also disappointed that we'll never see ultimate 21 minute timings again T.T
