It's Gosu eSports is today pleased to announce that Andre "Gretorp" Hengchua will be joining our Starcraft II team, where he will serve as player coach.
Scott "RuM" Ball, Team Manager for It's Gosu eSports, marked Hengchua's joining of the team as yet another step forward for It's Gosu.
“Of all the people I'm lucky enough to call friends and colleagues in the world of eSports, Andre is one of the closest to me. Given the fact that his career includes time spent as both a top player and leading analytical caster, the chance to bring him on as a coach is genuinely incredible. There are few as qualified as he is to coach in the North American scene, and it's both an honor and a privilege to have him lending his talents to our organization. I know I speak for everyone at It's Gosu in saying that we're all excited to see his wealth of knowledge being put to use with the aim of helping our players reach their goals and become champions-- I am very confident that he represents the final piece in the puzzle that's going to unlock our true potential. Welcome to the family, Andre!”
Ball's sentiments were echoed by Aaron "Ayesee" Chambers, Executive Manager for It's Gosu eSports, who heralded the team's most recent acquisition as another indication that It's Gosu will continue to play a leading role in North American eSports for years to come.
"In less than a year, It's Gosu eSports has gone from a basement project of a few very passionate individuals, to a major leader in North American eSports, both in terms of competitive teams, and in terms of content offered to serve our community. The fact that our organization has been able to attract the talents of an individual like Andre speaks volumes as to our plans for the future... bigger, better, and assembling as much talent under our roof as possible, all so we can offer the best situation for our players, and so we can turn out the most amazing product we can in order to entertain and serve the people who really make eSports what it is-- the fans. Speaking for the management of It's Gosu, the majority of the credit goes to our players, our employees, and, of course, to Scott, who once again took charge in making this happen. We can't wait to see where things go from here, and consider ourselves quite fortunate to have the chance to work with someone of Andre's caliber."
Hengchua had the following to say concerning his new home in It's Gosu:
“Since I've worked with the NASL, my time has been very limited. However, I've always wanted to stay as close as possible to the competitive scene. When Scott proposed the idea of coaching to me, I was ecstatic for the opportunity. Still, I had to make sure it was a place I wanted to be. After spending time with them at past MLG events, I realized that they weren't just a bunch of talented, hardworking individuals, but they were also a family. I felt very comfortable and at home. Because of that, I am proud to join the team and do everything I can to be the best coach possible. I thank It's Gosu for this opportunity, and I am looking forward to the impact I will make on the team.”
Hengchua, a former full time Starcraft II player who earned considerable notoriety with numerous competitive successes during the Wings of Liberty Beta, placed 21st overall in the 2010 MLG Pro Circuit, and entered pool play at MLG Dallas. He now works full time for the North American Star League (NASL) as a caster and media personality.
