Ahh another TL.net > GG.net!

Sucks about their team though, but I rarely heard anything from them in terms of results.

Not really a surprise, with everyone leaving, but still bad when teams fall.

Not a surprise at all, they never achieved much of note. Hope the players left teamless find somewhere to go.

Are the people in charge of gosugamers old gotfrag staff? That website's layout is exactly the same in every way as old school gotfrag.

they did next to nothing with/for their progamer team... I wanted them to try and rival TL as they have some good history there but instead all I heard from them was a team barely advertised with very little support and then today it died o-O

Too true, I imagined that as soon as they were announced. I hope that Lastshadow can find a team that fits him.

As I said on GG.net:
We were accepted to GSTL, just me/the koreans had some disagreements about stuff, and a lot of other things came up, as well as three potential players were going to join under x-y-z conditions etc.

All in all it was a good run, and the owner is a great guy, sad really everything turned out so sour in the sad ;;

Guess I should mention the disagreements were with management/etc, not with each other.

Pathetic if you ask me. Poor management always leads to such an ending. Shake up the management, fire a few people and make a couple controversies to stay in the gaming scene.

Sad to see the efforts of so many players going to waste.

Where does this put you with regards to your situation in Korea? Is that up in the air, or will you have to return to the states?
Now that you are teamless, do you have any plans for joining another team, or is it too soon to tell?
I've been a really big fan of both you and GosuGamers, so I'm sorry things didn't work out. Best of luck.

I can't tell any players on GosuGamers if I say gosugamers ... , shows how much splash they made in the SC2 scene.

Won't miss them because of that.

I don't want to return to America, I want to stay in Korea, for good lol, it's why I'm trying to learn the language and hopefully will be able to take classes in the future.

As far as my "team" situation, I would only entertain ideas of teams(foreign) that have a korean vision and serious players, otherwise I'll wait until I can try to get into a korean team. A lot of people mentioned col for some reason regarding me, but I don't believe in their "korean vision" out-side of the partnership with MVP, drewbie left korea really fast for personal reasons, and qxc (who is a really good guy/player) left fxo because he doesn't want to prioritize his progaming (understandable) but these reasons alone basically solidify that the team seems to not be serious enough, at least not in my eyes, of what a team needs to in order to succeed in Korea. It's why I only recruited/wanted Koreans on the GG.net team ~~;

I'll continue to grind hard and study like never before now too since now I don't have a "safety-net" to fall back on anymore, being out here in korea and all :D!

Well the only team that describes what you want is FXO out of well used to be considered a foreign team . Good luck on getting on a korean team I imagine its tough!

TSL maybe, they seem quite serious, and they just lost quite a few players, you could help them build up again.

Yeah i think thats the trend a team disbands for whatever reason the players who all are good or have experience working together join back up and either join a new team or just play together until they get recruited to a new team. Sad to see a team end but good luck to the players.

TSL would be pretty sick, Coach Lee seems like he really wants to push for a BW esque training schedule which would suit LS down to the ground I think, maybe Artosis can work something out....

I am really sad I had to announce this, but LastShadow didn't actually "leave" the team, but announced that he's not in GosuGamers anymore after I told him that we're disbanding. His tweet was kinda prematurely

I confused gosugamers for it'sgosu and was all like WTF?
It's a pretty reasonable choice since GG didn't really have any success in terms of tournament results..
but still a sad thing to see.

survival of the fittest...more clans will die in the future because there is not enough money for them. when u dont have the big ones in ur team, where does ur income come from ?

Give it a few days and everyone will forget about it. It wasn't a team that ever had a significant impact on the SC2 scene and i am sure the players that truly showed are pro sc2 players will join better teams.

Guess I should mention the disagreements were with management/etc, not with each other.

I don't want to return to America, I want to stay in Korea, for good lol, it's why I'm trying to learn the language and hopefully will be able to take classes in the future.

As far as my "team" situation, I would only entertain ideas of teams(foreign) that have a korean vision and serious players, otherwise I'll wait until I can try to get into a korean team. A lot of people mentioned col for some reason regarding me, but I don't believe in their "korean vision" out-side of the partnership with MVP, drewbie left korea really fast for personal reasons, and qxc (who is a really good guy/player) left fxo because he doesn't want to prioritize his progaming (understandable) but these reasons alone basically solidify that the team seems to not be serious enough, at least not in my eyes, of what a team needs to in order to succeed in Korea. It's why I only recruited/wanted Koreans on the GG.net team ~~;

I'll continue to grind hard and study like never before now too since now I don't have a "safety-net" to fall back on anymore, being out here in korea and all :D!

Can you give a bit more story to what you're doing in Korea, where you are from, what you're challenges have been, how the other teams like EG, TL and FXO are establishing in Korea/your status with them, your training regimen etc. It seems not alot of people even knew GG had a team, so maybe if you share a bit about yourself, you can raise your profile a bit to get the attention of the big boys?

iNcontrol that is not true that ggnet did nothing for the team, the fact of the matter is that the players were just terrible, lastshadow often flamed members of the site, and they would only submit replays wen gg pro team members win, the team was terrible and they never did anything cept play small tournies and ladder. good riddens to a shit team, i am a long standing member of ggnet so hopefully they can focus on the website more now.

Dangit. I know that since there isn't enough major talent to go around yet and anyone can open up teams that smaller teams like these would have a tough time staying open but crap, it sucks to see it happen.

Basically this is just proving that teams with no real practice schedules that are synced up and that operate pretty much as atonomous players tend to fail in long run as seen with GG and Six.Jax (now check.six i believe). I just don't see how the facts don't point to such clans being non-viable at the highest levels of play. I know in other sports it works, but in a game like starcraft it doesn't seem to be working well.
EDIT: last shadow maybe one of my favorite players after seeing that vid, he actually talked and is as white and nerdy as i thought <3333. That guy just won himself +1 loyal fan points.

they not archieved anythings but i think it was a big problem from start
the players was not S class (just some GOOD but no one went fulltime pro really)
but the biggest problem was for me the managment, sure marcoon might be good but comparing what you heared there and about like TL etc other teams, it was always to quiet about GG, never mentioned no results in any tournaments nothing ...

Praetoriani also disbanded, didn't they?

Yeah but that was because they lost their two players in a matter of like a week (first (P)NightEnD to Fnatic and then (T)ThorZaIN to mouz). They had like a few other players, but none of them were any good.

But really they did a bad job about telling people that they are out there playing Starcraft 2 professionally, you just can't run a team like that... promotion is everything in our modern world...

Wow... so much sad news all in one day. Well, I hope for the best for all of the players that are being relieved and I wish them the best of luck. But if it was a managerial issue, they should have been able to work something out so it's a shame that it's rubbing off on the players when they didn't have anything to do with it...

Oh, okay, I was confused for a second. I thought this meant It's Gosu, but I was pretty sure they just signed a new player. Gosu Gamers makes sense, they only had one recognizable player, and then only on and off.

I never viewed GG as a top team, so this isn't much of a surprise. Must be bad for the players, though.

I think that's a real dickish thing to say, after a team disbands it's really tasteless to say your team prevails after how long GosuGamers has been in the industry...

Hope someone will recruit LastShadow, he has a lot of talent.

You're right, I never thought about it their feelings. It was tasteless of me.
I've been a member of GosuGamers site for at least 5 years.

I had such a trouble remembering GosuGamers that I thought it was It's Gosu that died, which would be tragic and make no sense considering their streak.

Always sad to see a team disband... Good luck to the players.
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

Agreed wholeheartedly. Individually they are pretty well known by the bw community, but as SC2 team, they really got next to zero advertisement, didn't participate in any team leagues or even play daily tournaments for exposure.

Not even talking about big tournament exposure like NASL/MLG/DH/IEM/IPL. It's a shame, because had their managers tried to organize better, the players were certainly good enough to show good performance even at top tier tournaments.

Should edit the original post to be more specific regarding the clan tag. Lots of people are thinking its GoSu that disbanded, not GG.

I'd say I was sad to see it happen, but I had to actually look up who was even on the Team, and after looking it up, I still don't know most of them.

Some stuff like this is bound to happen, its better to have teams fold now so players have time to go elsewhere and develop.

wemadefox was kind of just the old wc3 clan with its players playing sc2 for a while (moon, lyn, soccer). since only soccer seems to play sc2 full time, there wasnt too much to "disband" ^^

Those teams disbanded, but they all had players who were somewhat successful. (LG had PainUser, who was pretty good in the beta. ROOT needs no explanation. Prae had NightEnd and ThorZain). GG was all but a less than mediocre team and didn't really have an impact on the professional scene. Sad for them. I hope that LastShadow will do good in Korea.

Naugrim did very well in online cups and local tournaments. If I recall correctly he made top 4 in the first Swedish WCG qualifier. Players like sase, haypro, naniwa, sjow, bischu, thorzain, morrow. The only players that placed above him were morrow and lalush.
(I might Ne mixing him up with someone else).

I don't want to return to America, I want to stay in Korea, for good lol, it's why I'm trying to learn the language and hopefully will be able to take classes in the future.

As far as my "team" situation, I would only entertain ideas of teams(foreign) that have a korean vision and serious players, otherwise I'll wait until I can try to get into a korean team. A lot of people mentioned col for some reason regarding me, but I don't believe in their "korean vision" out-side of the partnership with MVP, drewbie left korea really fast for personal reasons, and qxc (who is a really good guy/player) left fxo because he doesn't want to prioritize his progaming (understandable) but these reasons alone basically solidify that the team seems to not be serious enough, at least not in my eyes, of what a team needs to in order to succeed in Korea. It's why I only recruited/wanted Koreans on the GG.net team ~~;

I'll continue to grind hard and study like never before now too since now I don't have a "safety-net" to fall back on anymore, being out here in korea and all :D!

How do you stay funded? Like housing, food etc...

GG.net was almost always mostly a webpage more than a known gaming team. I belive its due to sponsorship problems, otherway i dont see any reason to do this.

GL Lastshadow, I hope you can find a team in Korea and continue to reach your goals. You might of had a troubled past in BW , but in SC2 you show nothing but hard work and determination to succeed at the highest of levels. You've changed into a much better person over time, and for that I wish nothing but the best for you. GL.

That's what happens when you make a "team" and give them less support than 4th grade soccer teams get.

Hopefully their players can find their way onto teams who can actually do something for them.

Guess I should mention the disagreements were with management/etc, not with each other.

I don't want to return to America, I want to stay in Korea, for good lol, it's why I'm trying to learn the language and hopefully will be able to take classes in the future.

As far as my "team" situation, I would only entertain ideas of teams(foreign) that have a korean vision and serious players, otherwise I'll wait until I can try to get into a korean team. A lot of people mentioned col for some reason regarding me, but I don't believe in their "korean vision" out-side of the partnership with MVP, drewbie left korea really fast for personal reasons, and qxc (who is a really good guy/player) left fxo because he doesn't want to prioritize his progaming (understandable) but these reasons alone basically solidify that the team seems to not be serious enough, at least not in my eyes, of what a team needs to in order to succeed in Korea. It's why I only recruited/wanted Koreans on the GG.net team ~~;

How is FXO a foreign team ? They only have koreans from fou as far as I can tell.

FXO.imba has completely different management than FXO. It's not the same team or organization, they just share a sponsor. FXO is FXOpen's official team if you will while FXO.Imba is just sponsored by them.

Lazarus Gaming disbanded, thats one.

ROOT also disbanded, granted a lot of the players went to complexity.

They didn't disband, they were acquired

if you are talking about ROOT than I must say thats not entirely correct. some ROOT members (the main one in my head being kiwikaki) did not go to complexity.

Lastshadow was literally the most bad mannered and overrated player I played with in all of Broodwar. Did he not get caught cheating once at a LAN, also?

Distinctly remember beating him in an ICCup tourney finals where he proceeded to flame and bad manner me for over 30 minutes about how I got lucky and he was the better player.

The guy definitely does not deserve to be in Korea or on a team in general.

And honestly, I guess he isn't overrated, because to be overrated you have to be considered good in the first place, which he never was.

I have a question that maybe someone in this thread can answer.. Why is lastshadow in Korea? Does he not want to participate in MLGs or other various international tournaments? I thought players usually proved themselves to be a decent player in the west before going to Korea.

I won trial games vs MVP players to get my invite.

Everyone isn't after the fame and glory you get in the foreigner community. Those people will fade away anyway soon. You could probably compare what LS is doing to what HuK did, just that HuK had the luck to actually train in a real progamer house. Anyway, it's people with the mindset like LS that will stick around in the long run because the reward is better than staying at home in the west, play cups and stream NA/EU ladder play every day to earn some small bucks and go to events only to get crushed by hardworking koreans.

You could question why LS is in Korea without any major results in the west if he only was there to play Code A, but he is there to actually train hard like any other korean, right?

EDIT: To the guy above me, look at Stephano, I think if anything he proves that you don't need to train in Korea to be a beast and get money or beat Koreans.

I'm sorry but could you explain a little better? It's ok if you can't but that's a little confusing.. xD. You won trial games vs MVP players to live in the GOM house? Was that required by GOM or by GG?

Stephano would probably be the exception rather than the rule in this case.

Originally LS lived in what used to be the MVP B-Team house, now the ProS house. The games he played against those MVP members were to get into that house. GG actually picked up a few members of that house (Icarus, Galaxy) to play on their pro team which according to LS was to participate in next years GSTL. However, he left the ProS house after about 3 months (I think) for a few reasons (it wasn't exactly the most serene practice environment you've ever seen/heard as anyone who watched his stream can attest to) and went to live in the GOM house, obviously with GOM's blessing.

Stephano is the only exception I can think of that has been succesful without korean training and he has mad potential. I doubt anyone else will be able to do as good as Stephano has done without being in Korea training, especially by this time next year when the skill level will be even higher and the practice in the korean teamhouses will be better. And believe me when I say that if Stephano would stay home in France 12 months from now and continue training the same way he does he would be runned over by the korean scene by this time 2012. But this doesn't matter either because by this time next year he won't play anymore iirc.

But ^that is something to think about for every other foreign "progamer" who wants to be able to play this game for a living without being fucking trashed on by the koreans every event like they already do now. People who stays in the west because they are comfortable with how they have it now and they don't wanna leave their home and friends but still wanna call themselfs progamer even if they are trash pisses me off.

The foreign scene isn't thinking for the long run, and that will turn our scene into the grave just like it did with BW eventually. Our scene = fancy events and talk shows.

Lol sorry for hijacking the thread, maybe I should do a blog about this instead. ^^
