Episode 84 will be LIVE on Thursday 1/5/2012 @ 7:00pm EST over at twitch.tv/starcastshow.(Tonight!!) Who are the Girls of StarCraft: GoSC, unofficially known as the "Girls of StarCraft" formed with the purpose of allowing girls who love gaming, and in this case, mainly, but not limited to StarCraft®, to come together and share a supportive and friendly community with other female gamers. (But it doesn't just stop at 'gamers'. ) GoSC is a growing population of people who are coming together for a common interest. We're players, castresses, promoters, fans, and the like - We realize it can be tough for a "girl in a guys' world", and have come to realize that a lot of girls are intimidated by the thought of practicing with, and competing against the guys because of a lack of confidence, and that ever-lurking statement ender: "...because you're a girl". We offer a whole community to encourage, and help these ladies build up that confidence. We introduce people to many of the "good guys" who are supportive of our community, and we encourage each other to get out there and do what we love, and disregard the 'haters'. We do make ourselves visible to the community as female gamers so that other girls can find us and be a part of our daily lives - NOT to get attention solely because we're girls, and we have the hope that teams will recognize our girls for their dedication to the game and community - rather than just PR. Geneviève "Livinpink" Forget has been "one of the girls" since the community was very small. She is devoted to casting, and is working on her skills by taking every opportunity she can get to cast live games and gather feedback from her audience. She recently casted alongside KellyMilkies at the Zowie Divina ladies' invitational tournament in China, and is working on the beginnings of taking on a few other, more regular, gigs that we can't mention quite yet. She has a stream that she frequently turns on to play team games, and has recently been practicing her 1v1 on stream with coaching to become a better player, which, in turn, will further her casting abilities. ( @LivinpinkSC2 ) Brandi "BrightSide" Plemmons has been in love with the SC2 community, and "one of the girls" since the ladies' community was in it's tiny beginnings, and has dedicated herself to helping grow the awareness that "Yes, we're out there - No, you're not the only one" by introducing the ladies in every way possible, attending as many live events as possible, organizing meet-ups, helping promote female (and female-sponsored) tournaments, offering personal encouragement to those who might be 'shy', engaging with people online, developing and maintaining the web presence of the girls' groups, and generally supporting ALL of the ladies in the community who are serious about growing esports. Her other passion: showing support for the less "known" talents (female or male) who clearly demonstrate that they are working hard to provide for, and grow the community. Should be in the featured calender. If there can be moba shows featured, this show could at least be featured for doing sc2 content. | ||
