And you need to make like Top 8 to be considered for next season, unless MLG decides you are good enough, meaning one of the 132 that get invited to the regional. What are the chances of that? Just make the regional qualifiers open, and it fixes everything. Even with all its problems, I actually liked the old system better. I still think it was a good system, the points just needed to be readjusted, so you couldn't finish 4th at the first MLG and be seeded for every MLG after.

nyc ???(surprise) nyc RALIEGH nyc ANAHEIM nyc CBUS We can probably safely assume that nyc= the area events in NYC. CBus of course refers to Columbus, OH. From that leak on the convention center website, we know Raliegh is going to happen in late August (Aug 24th-26th) and will be the Summer Championship. This would put the Summer Arena in late July, give or take a week or two. This leaves only a couple of unanswered things with regards to SC2 MLG event timing and locations: -Timing of Spring and Fall seasons: Based on the dates of the events that we do know about, (and assuming they repeat the same structure for all 4 seasons), each season would be ~2 months long (from online play to area to chamionship). There will be around a ~2 week, perhaps longer gap between seasons, so Spring would start in mid-April and end in mid-June if we want to fit in nicely between MLG Columbus and MLG Raliegh. Fall would start in mid-September and end in mid-November (which actually lines up nicely with when MLG Providence was held to conclude the year). -Anaheim timing: Looking at the list of events at the Anaheim convention center (http://www.anaheimconventioncenter.com/events.cfm), the June timeframe looks pretty packed every week. Of course, the center is pretty big so multiple events can be held the same weekend, but MLG is pretty big so the chances of that happening are lower. My guess then is that Anaheim will be the Fall event (and be the big-big one for the year? Depends on how MLG structures this all). The only concern I have with this timing is potential closeness to Blizzcon (depends on when they have it), as that might discourage people from going to and paying for both events in such a short timespan. -The ??? location and timing: From what I know and have seen, signs are pointing to Canada for the event location that has yet to be confirmed. Going along with my Anaheim speculation, I think the Canada event is going to be the location for the Spring championship. This also makes sense because the weather would be better for such an event in the summer months than in the winter months. Of course, Sundance/MLG could announce something totally different from what I've speculated here! But given what we know now, this is how I think things are going to turn out.

To be fair, just because the Winter qualifier is by invite (based on 2011 results), doesn't necessarily mean subsequent ones won't be open.

Well, to be fair we knew three of the major locations before any information was released. We knew that Anaheim was a lock for sure. We knew Raleigh was going to occur as it was sadly leaked by the conventions center that will host it. We knew about Columbus just recently I believe. What is the 4th is the question. Also, remember that Sundance was not only talking about bringing MLG back to the TV in the US, but also going international. I would not be surprised if we nailed down more of the season from when this thread was the official 2012 season speculation thread. Look at the last spoiler to see everything we found out before they released any information ![]()
