This is basically suppose to be the global invitational but fancier. If you read all of there schedule then you see it looks like they do a arena season with the best players with top8 getting prize money and a free trip to the championship event which will probably have the big bucks.

Just online tournies for Winter Season? meh, diluting the brand.

This is what I've been led to believe is the case. Gimme a shout if I've mistaken something.

I hope that MLG will come to Boston someday! That way I can attend :-)

I would say that seems about correct

why again the same weekend like mlg and iem last year? 24-26th feb mlg at new york and ASUS ROG at helsinki.
|
So essentially there are two live events for SC2 in the Winter Season... the Arena thing + the Championship (which is basically like a regular MLG with Top 16 Arena players being seeded into Pool Play) ?
What is the prize pool for the Championship? I'm hoping it'll be around the same as Providence if not more, or else it'll feel a little bit cheap.
EDIT: If it's like the diagram above, then I think it's a really good format.

ahh ok then its cool:D

Again these MLG things conflict with ASUS ROG.. Just like last time :|
|
All 32 players will receive all-expenses-paid trips and no live spectators? why?

Columbus is gunna be sick
|
Wooooo MLGGGGG
Seriously, come to Canada. Also not the West Coast. Or, go to the west coast, but make sure there's a Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal date in there somewhere too.
Can't wait for this season!

|
Why have they but MLG Winter on same weekend than Assemblys ASUS ROG?????
|
Conflicting dates is kind of lame but otherwise it's hard to find any fault. Definitely a better/fairer system than last seasons and they're shelling out a lot in Stipends.
|
Sick.. I wish MLG took a large gamble and included DotA 2 as part of the lineup. That would make my day for certain :D
|
I think large tournaments need to start talking to each other more often so that tournaments don't start to overlap (Especially in the coming summer) + Show Spoiler +Or maybe a little bit of tournament rivalry will be a good thing as organisers try to 1-up the competition.
26K for a pre-tournament is quite a bit, also a really good distribution of the prize money.
