Give them a fine or something, don't stop them from playing. It would have been another matter if it was something they planned and tried to hide, but it obviously was a spur of the moment situation and they didn't try to hide it. That in itself is a problem. The whole point of being able to be sponsored is because you display the most amazing ability in an activity that patrons patronise you in lodging/funds/etc. That'll you play your best, regardless of reward/prestige/honour. May the best man win. This stunt by Byun and Coca was a farce of the above statement. I mean who needs ability when you got friends who'll throw matches for you? Stupid moves, became more severe because it was done in plain sight. It was right for SlayerS to lose all faith in CoCa. If he can throw a match because of a low prize online tournament for an old friend, what does it mean when it comes to major money tournaments with "offers" from an old friend? tl;dr If either player can't even have integrity in small things, what about in big things? Your tl;dr logic is opposite of what I would think is normal. People are more hesitant to steal diamonds than to steal an apple. Regardless, although it may seem like the punishments are an over reaction, I think it's necessary since this is the first case of anything that resemebles match-fixing in SC2, and was necessary... They're professional sportsmen supported and indirectly paid for by their team, sponsors and fans. SlayerS are correct in their punitive action. There must be ZERO doubt in their team's ability to play their best at any given time. In martial arts, if an opponent fights you with one arm, it means he looks down on you as a martial artist. It means you are child's play. Likewise, for them to not only chat mid-game AND send their game is a slap in the face to anyone, competitor, caster or fan, who takes the tournament seriously and thus plays their best.

They have sponsors who give them money, they have a lot in line here and they want to give the best result as possible. Of course they take these things seriously, jesus. And not to mention, if you want this "E-sports" to be something huge in the future, things like this should be happening more often. And no streaming allowed? why i have been seeing Cella and co stream everyday pretty much. Not that i care if they stream or not, i would prefer not to stream if they wan't to show good results (as Diamond mentioned above).

The insanity is the opposite -- trying to punish and coerce people into never forfeiting. Sorry, but friendship doesn't kill esports. Way to support matchfixing. Take it a bit more seriously ffs. It makes a travesty of competition when you have one player just saying "meh, this competition is irrelevant so I'm going to help you cheat, make the fans feel stupid for acting like what they love to watch is irrelevant, and also for supporting me in the first place". Friendship doesn't kill esports? Honestly, some meme isn't going to make your point more valid. You know what friendship is in a sport? Ever played for a sports team? You are told to get out on the field and play to win just as hard as ever. Don't ever act like someone is your friend when you're playing against them- not until after the match is done. That's just how professional sport works, otherwise it's frankly pointless. This is no different. The travesty is trying to force people to compete against their will. If anything, Coca proved his honesty and integrity today. It actually says very badly for the community that he is the first player to do this so openly.

I’m not that naïve to think that these things don’t happen but when discovered the teams themselves has to be firm and show that this is now acceptable behavior. Coca is a good player and he will recover and mature from the experience.

You know, there's a reason why Korea is so far ahead of foreigners not only in terms of actual playing, but also in the whole infrastructure of E-sports (BW played on TV with huge companies like Samsung sponsoring their teams, with players making 100 000 dollars a year).... AND IT'S BECAUSE THEY TAKE THINGS FUCKING SERIOUSLY! I cannot fathom how you can see that as a negative thing.
