Part 1 of Training Camp: November 5th-17th 2011
+ Show Spoiler +
It is with great pleasure for me to announce our latest community project: CSN Training Camp, and that one of eSport's most seasoned gamers (Wiki)Violet will be competing at (Wiki)MLG Providence.

Part 2 of Training Camp: November 21st- ???
Cyber Sports Network is pround to announce that viOLet will remain in the US to continue training with the CSN Training Camp following MLG Providence.

Without the support of a team, he lacks the funds and the hardware to continue his impressive pro gaming career. Through CSN's Training Camp, he is provided with food, lodging, equipment, and more to enable his progress toward a major Starcraft 2 title. In just two weeks at our facilities in Texas, viOLet achieved Rank 1 Grandmaster on the NA server, won more than 10 on-line tournaments, and went on to make an impressive MLG Providence open bracket run. At MLG, he lost only 5 games total, taking out players such as Axslav, Jinro, and Gatored and meeting his match against SlayerS.Ganzi and MarineKingPrime. With the further support of his fans and CSN, we believe viOLet can achieve even greater results. Ultimately, the goal of the CSN Training Camp is to maintain and showcase viOLet's talent in order to find a permanent team for this passionate, talented player.

What is CSN Training Camp?
+ Show Spoiler +
CSN Training Camp is a community event that will allow fans from all over the world to watch viOlet train for 2 weeks before tackling the open bracket at MLG Providence. Through the use of live cams, fans will be able to interact with viOlet in between games as he will be trying his best to answer any questions you may have!

Headquartered in College Station, Texas, viOlet will have plenty of time to acclimate to the time zone differences from living in Korea. He will be streaming everything from his practice games on ladder to online tournaments that he will be competing in while stationed in the US.

The goal of CSN Training Camp is to give extremely passionate, talented, and dedicated players a chance to really buckle down and train for a big competition. In doing so, CSN will be providing all of the essentials & amenities so that players like viOlet can focus without the hassles of daily life. In addition we hope that many people will become fans of viOlet if they are not already, and that foreign teams will turn their attention to one of the world's most talented Zerg players.

About viOlet:
+ Show Spoiler +
Formally on team (Wiki)MVP many StarCraft II fans caught their first glimpse of viOlet in GSL May 2011, making it to the Round of 8 in Code A before being stopped by (T)MVP. That same season viOlet participated in the up/down matches and defeated
(Z)Kyrix 2-0 to qualify for Code S the next season.

After competing in Code S in the GSL during July and August viOlet fell to Code A in GSL October. He was then defeated in the up/down matches by (P)HerO, taking any GSL hopes for viOlet out of the equation.

More recently, viOlet competed at IPL3 Origins in Atlantic CIty traveling with Team AZK to compete in the open bracket. There viOlet had an outstanding run defeating the likes of (Z)Machine, &(Z)SLush, to only loose to (Z)Stephano in the round of 16 in the championship bracket, who went on to win the whole tournament.

viOlet also competed in WarCraft 3, playing for SK & Srs Gaming and captured 11 ZOTAC Cups making him the 4th all-time leader in ZOTAC Cup wins.

I like Violet, been a fan since WC3 but "one of eSport's most accomplished gamers" is just...no. Nonsense hype like that will only backfire.

Best of luck at MLG though!

It's not "nonsense hype". Considering there are hundreds of gamers, he is one of those "accomplished gamers".

Anyway can't wait to see him at MLG!

I think this will do amazing things for the fandom of violet. That being said, I agree that it is nonsense to call him one of the most accomplished gamers. He hasn't won anything big, doesn't have brand awareness, and isn't in the top earners in SC2 alone, let alone other eSports.

Will watch.
Eagerly awaiting Techies.

He's been in Code S GSL and done decently at MLG and was successful in WC3. Pretty accomplished, despite no major tournament wins.

Always nice to see players given the opportunity to go who otherwise might not be able to.

I don't know, this might just be asking for getting researched by others for MLG. That or he'll only really stream ladder or matches that aren't as serious as he'd normally play at.

Not that i'm against this, just worried about violet. You know?

Seems like he will be fine, he does practice outside of of whatever is on the stream and he can plan accordingly.

It's something he has to think about though.

he was rather good at wc3, so i hope he can get better at sc2 too. glad he gets the opportunity to take part at MLG, although that's going to be one of the hardest tournaments ever, if not the hardest (only for the guys starting in the open bracket, else GSL is much harder i suppose)

While he was very good at the end of wc3 but he had few to no achievements(total career winnings of $500 in wc3, reflects this) so his big achievement would be getting in to and dropping out of code S. There are several hundreds of gamers with bigger achievements in eSports history so the claim of him being one of the most accomplished ones is quite silly. No hate on Violet, he's very talented and I'd love for him to establish himself as a top player.

1 zotac = 100 euro, how do you figure that 11 zotac wins = $500?

I could be wrong but from this article, isn't SK actually calling Violet as their own player?

violet played for sk before he went to serious gaming. He was very talented back than thats why we took him on board. He had his first offline experience with us in china at a WC3L finals. I am happy for him that he has the opportunity to travel the world and I am looking forward to meet him at MLG

I could be wrong but from this article, isn't SK actually calling Violet as their own player?

ah guess he was SK before srs, but he didnt do much in SK , dont think he was on the team for very long, im pretty sure 10/11 zotacs he won were under srs tag ;P perhaps even 11/11 but i was still wrong so gotta apologize :D sry!

So sweet again by CSN! Just like Clash of the Houses getting great Korean players a chance to shine at MLG's. Very exicted to see violet unleashed.

Damn good player. I was shocked the other day when one of the CSN guys had to tell viOlet he needed to take a break from SC2 to sleep because he had been playing for over 16 hours! viOlet didn't even seem phased. He looked more dissappointed that he was being told he needed to quit playing for that session. Thats some dedication if I've ever seen it.

We are working on some additional ways to help raise funds for viOlet. Check out the T-shirt ideas and his new official logo!

7up Logo - For those that do not know.. viOlet is a huge fan of 7up soda and those tuning into the stream have labeled him the 7up Zerg. Here is his new player logo!

Here are the T-shirts. These would be sold to help raise funds for his training camp and trip to states and MLG Providence.
we will have more details as they become available.

Let me know what you think.. there probably wont be many changes, as we need to get them ordered ASAP.. but if you have a really good idea or suggestion or comment.. please feel free to share it!

Thank you all who have tuned in for support.

I not sure you'd want to be selling anything with the 7up logo, since it would probably be trademark dilution.

viOlet's my new favorite streamer! He's always on!! And he strikes a good balance between strong play and entertaining play (Just saw him Spine crawler rush a forge FE Toss. It was awesome.) I'm gonna be sad when MLG Providence is over and I can't watch him as much anymore. =(

Eh, it probably looks like it could be a type of 7up product to the average consumer.

But! after doing some research, even though you're making money from it, it seems that only the offensive trademark parodies actually get in any trouble. So it shouldn't be a problem at all. I do personally like the idea, btw.

ya.. its a 'representation' that a consumer can relate to a popular product..but the graphic is not exactly the same. I will confirm this with my art director..but he will most likely tell me the same thing.. that it will not be an issue at all. You can not trademark the # 7 or the letters up.

thanks for the insight though .. for sure.

LOL, I just watched on stream where someone asks him if he wants to eat food before playing his match in the NA playhem daily and hes like noty. Hes gonna be one of those guys that dies from too much sc2. But seriously nuts level of dedication out of this guy.

This is incredible what andrew and CSN are doing, a paid expense trip to train and compete at MLG Providence.

Needs a lot more exposure, and donate if you can at http://cyber-sports.net/trainingcamp you get 100 replays + mod in the channel, plus you are helping E-SPORTS! :D.

Wish this was on the front page.

Also, viOlet is a amazing player and deserves a good foreign team!

Last 2 meetings.. viOLet 7 games... axslav 1 game won

axslav talks a little smack.. says viOLet's strategy won't work again.

This should be good!!
