Wow. So Check just left Prime and now Sleep left SlayerS. Seems like a lot of Korean players wants to join foreign team.

I wonder about if players like this just didnt like their team or are trying to get on foreign teams on the hope that there is "easier" money. Because ultimately, it's the same reason people initially joined the SC2 pro league rather than BW, was because it was "easier". It probably wouldn't be a stretch to assume these players are doing he exact same thing once things didn't work out the first time around.

I get trying to get more exposure, but SlayerS is one of the more wealthier teams that travel around the world for tournements. Plus he has some of the best pratice partners in the world.

I honestly don't like the idea of koreans leaving their korean teams to join foreign teams. It's starting to get to the point where a lot of top koreans (MC, MKP, Nada, MVP, Nestea) are going to the major tournaments that used to be only foreigners (think MLG in 2010). Some of the korean players now can't beat MVP and Nestea when they are on a korean team and receiving korean training, how can they compete when they are getting arguably worse training? Anyways, it's a good pickup for some foreign team and I wish sleep the best of luck.

That would be funny. Sleep leaves slayers only to rejoin slayers house under the EG/Slayers practice partnership!

Kinda silly if he left SlayerS just to get into a foreign team. I doubt any major team outside of would pick up Sleep of all people and give him a big paycheck and send him to events all over the world. But maybe I'm wrong?

It seems like many koreans think they can just leave their teams for a foreign team and offers will poor down on them and they will get the same deal like PuMa got.

Im just saying it because everyone says it when a player leaves a team; Liquid`Sleep ? XD

Aaaanyway, he want to join foreign team? But didnt EG just 'partner' with Slayers... Im glad to see foreigners joining/wanting to join foreign teams, but it would be neat to see more foreigners joining korean teams, not just partnerships between to teams.. GL to Sleep!

Sleep never really seem to impressive me when I've seen him (not counting team leagues bo1 c'mon)

Hope he finds a foreign team, I really do, but it seems korean players are noticing the untapped market that is the foreign scene. Therefor its a smart choice to try and get on one of them to get your expenses covered for foreign invites (bigger chance of winning).

I think it's mainly because Korea only has one really big tournament, and the chances of winning any prize money are slim to none. With most Korean teams not being able to afford to give their players(let alone B-teamers like Sleep) a real salary, it makes sense that they'd look for an easier method of earning money.

A tough loss for SlayerS, not many Zergs who are known in that team, I hope he joins a relatively underrated team, to stop EG and Liquid to be non-korean powerhouses.
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

The point is that mediocre `top` players try and get on foreign teams because they can't succeed with the talent that roams in the GSL. I see no reason why a team should pick up Sleep. What they would gain from it ? There surely are better players out there they can get that will be cheaper. He will command a salary as a Korean player and all.

If Sleep check Zenio he'll see he's not the only one who left a KOR team hoping to be recruited by a foreign team.
I kinda understand those 3 players, they're in teams that have big stars, so they'll never get a chance to travel, it must be hard to work as hard as everyone else in your team on a day to day basis but always seeing the same people invited everywhere around the world.
Not sure they're doing the right move tho, if OGN, Kespa and co make new leagues in the future, being on a KOR team will offer a lot new opportunities for those shadow players.

So much team switching. It's actually getting tough to know who is on what team anymore. I hope it doesn't continue to change like this in the future because it really is getting hard to follow. Anyways I wonder if a foreign team will actually pick him up or not

I couldnt care less about those Koreans leaving for foreign teams, most of them are kinda 2nd tier in their respective team anyway. Hwangsin, Sleep, Tandongho, Mentalist etc never impress me, only Check & PuMa look somewhat prominent (still PuMa couldnt get pass the 1st round of the qualifiers and I dont see him getting top3 in MLG any time soon)

Liquid'Sleep? It would be a wet dream come true.

Jokes aside, interesting to see Sleep go from IM.Sleep to SlayerS.Sleep now to just Sleep. Gonna be interesting to see which team he ends up transferring to, especially with other Zergs like Check and Zenio now teamless and on the market.

Sadly for Sleep I feel like Check and Zenio would get spots on any team looking before Sleep does. At the moment, both Check and Zenio are bigger names than Sleep, whether or not they are both better.

I feel as though Zenio and Check can (and most likely will) get on A team foreign teams (EG,Liquid, mouz, dignitas, ect) while Sleep will probably get offers from teams like iS, checksix, ect.

Or any of the three of them will be the last player on reIGN's roster

I agree, but there's also a trend where the relaxed part of the foreign community can't win anything anymore... Koreans at all the big foreign tournaments mean the only people who can really win money are the couple foreigners who really do take things pretty seriously. The incoming Koreans, even if they are more relaxed than most of the Korean pros, will displace even *more* relaxed foreigners. I don't think the scene overall is getting more relaxed.

It makes sense to me, these are mid tier Koreans that can't do much in Korea but can come over and win money and fame in the foreign community simply because they have that better training.

The best Koreans are going to stay in Korea and keeping owning shit up. I don't think it's that bad at all, really. It sort of marginalizes the mid tier foreigners though since they really can't compete with anyone, anymore.

I dont really think its a good idea for him to leave, especially with HuK, Puma coming in permanently to help with some different styles, and especially when idra comes over eventually.

Sleep left Slayers? So they are going to practice 24/7 now? Boy will they be tired!! I find it so hard to play Starcraft without sleep.

He qualified for IPL3.

That was also the first time I ever heard of him though, not sure if he also played in GSTL before.

From what I saw on thorzain's twitter he's good friends with him and mousesports are a fairly large team this seems like a good oppurtunity for them to jump on the bandwagon and get their own korean.

Probably not, considering they're all Zerg players.

Then again, I don't really value the opinion of someone who doesn't know that Prime is a team and Check is the player.

EG makes a big deal about it every time they buy a player, obviously people focus on them every time a player leaves.
FXO bought a whole Korean team but they didn't try to hype the hell out of it lol.

Good for him. If he joins a foreign team, he can get much more exposure and chances to succeed. With Slayers, he was a relative unknown, living under the shadow of the team's top zerg Coca and other star players, MMA, Boxer, Ryung, Ganzi, etc.

As much as I love Slayers, I feel the benefit that Sleep can get will be greater than the loss for Slayers.

Hope he finds a foreign team, I really do, but it seems korean players are noticing the untapped market that is the foreign scene. Therefor its a smart choice to try and get on one of them to get your expenses covered for foreign invites (bigger chance of winning).

Its not good for a player who is up and coming, which sleep is. To leave an environment that has promoted his up and comingness, to a more relaxed environment without the same practice... Although it might make you a quick buck, its also career suicide from my view. Unless you have no intention of being a long term pro gamer..

I also think that some big things are about to happen in korea, and leaving the community at this time, would risk missing out on something that is potentially better than they would get abroad right now.

I agree with this, the SlayerS roll call is long and hard to get a break. In all the GSTL's, SlayerS have only put out 10 players: Alicia, BoxeR, FroZen, GanZi, Golden, Lots, Min, MMA, Ryung, TaeJa.

Chances are the opportunities to get 'air time' will be reduced now too: add Puzzle and CoCa to the mix, and there are still good players in Yugioh, Brown, Cella, Dragon (JYS), Drughead, Crank, Kuma, Tyson & Mystic. I would think some of these players will want to to be in the front lines too soon.

Sleep showed he has skill and qualified in IPL3 and can probably excel in an environment with more exposure. Good luck Sleep!
