I used to be a 'meh' fan of Spades but after seeing this conversation with his racial slurs, I'm not quite a fan anymore. Hope he fixes this image of him soon..

no it's not okay. blizzard policy also dictates it's not okay. don't spend your time making racial comments and threatening someone with violence at real events and proceed to try defend yourself on reddit crying that it's been taken out of context and that everyone else has boring lives. now he realizes this won't do and says he'll apologize

It's also against Blizzard's policy to MPQ edit. That must mean it's bad and we should never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever do it!

Obviously racial comments and violence are not on the same level, but adhering to Blizzard's set of rules because it's their rules is wrong. They make their rules to protect themselves, and protect their customers by proxy.

note how i said it's not okay before saying blizzard also says it's not okay.

You didn't say why until you mentioned it was against Blizzard's policy.

Pretty poor analogy given that there are severe penalties for all of the examples you give.

But why do we hold proplayers to a standard that we don't hold regular players? Because people pay attention to them? Because they get money for playing a video game? Progamers aren't superpeople, they're just regular people and should be subject to the same stipulation for playing SC2.

It makes sense for people who have greater influence to be held to higher standards. It has nothing to do with them being "superpeople." You say that as if it requires being extraordinary to not threaten others with physical violence. I would say that it merely requires being remotely civilized.

Suicide isn't an act of violence. If a pro player actually threatened violence, then they should be reported.

To some extent. But death threats, for example, are illegal. That's not something you can decide for yourself.

I considered myself a professional poker player even when I only made ~1500$/month from it since it was my only income

professional doesn't mean good, or top tier or w/e you want, it means it's your job

When it's your job or your profession I don't think it's appropiate to act however you want, deffinetly not that kind of bm. Are you casual I guess who cares? But also being BM like that hurts not only yourself but your team and your sponsors.

Blown way the fuck out of proportion. Two guys were at each other's throats on the internet. Big deal. I'd be another issue if it was at a tournament, but this is just two guys smack-talking on the internet. Maybe I'm just thick skinned because I'm Swedish, or because I can take and give shit and be perfectly fine after. Spades has stated that he got riled up and has apologised or is planning to.

Let this die, please.
