You just have to look at his play to know that he is a great player. People generally put way too much importance into single games / tournaments when judging a player.
...and some people blindly follow players because they start seeing threads pop up all over TL about them. Yes, his ladder run has been very impressive and there's no doubt he is one of the top foreigners right now. However, as Blasphemi stated previously already, he has a lot of work to do before he will consistently take games from players like DRG, Bomber, MVP etc.

Actually it was only 3 weeks ago. He played terribly.

Since when loosing a serie against one of the best players of the planet means you are bad ?

IPL 3 is a chance for him to prove himself against the best on LAN which is what matters the most.
I'd like to see him perform well in IPL 3, but i have doubts about it... It will be his first lan with jetlag involved, massive crowds and a place like caesar palace... And even smaller lan are hard when you're not used to this environment. Like Stephano-MC at HS3 or Mana-MC at IEM Cologne, Mana and Stephano did not show their a-game.
If he can take the most out of this experience, i'm confident for his future.

Everybody who denies that stephano is the best EU zerg right now and has the potential to become one of the best players in the WORLD has not been following his stream and career. Ther kid is freakin' incredible I would not be surprised at all to see some major tournament victorys once he gets used to being a pro and competing at huge LANs

Stephano currently has great raw skill, but in term of strategy and preparation for a specific oponent, I don't think he has the experience and practice environment.

I don't get it really how come the foreign community cant just be happy that we got a few new and up coming players no matter where they from.
why would we be jealous we have plenty of high level zergs who have actually proven they can compete on lan and not just ladder.. wats with all the americn hatred on this site nowadays.. Haters : Ok guys, here is how we are going to try to discredite Stephano, we will say in every post were his name is quoted that he needs to play Lan, because, like everyone knows beating koreans and being nearly undefeated online is worthless and means nothing !
Very clean games this week end for stephano in Fxo KOTH and Scan dignitas invitational ( he won both btw ) LAN is the only thing that matters. There is a long standing phrase in ESports, "If it wasn't on LAN it didn't happen". That sums up the relevance of Stephano beating MMA on 400ms at 7am when MMA had stayed up all night, having played the all star game at GSL during the day in a game where both players had already qualified for the tournament in question. Yes right, online tournaments don't mean shit...... oh wait. Are you seriously saying that online tournaments have no value? Because then Nerchio is a bad player. Nerchio needs to prove himself on LAN too. The value of online tournaments, ESPECIALLY online tournaments which are not major like TSL or IPL is massively lower than LAN events for several reasons: 1. Players do not show their best strats and build for $100 tournaments. 2. Some players (often not always Koreans) are playing with a lot of lag. 3. Players are often either waking up in the middle of the night to play, or playing through the night. When Stephano beat MMA he was playing at 7am Korean time having played all night and having played in GSL that same day, while Stephano was playing at about 12pm French time, which is pretty standard/nice times for a gamer. Do you see how perhaps this is not a valuable means by which to ascertain an accurate measure of player skill?
Your error is that you don't see the bigger picture.
Stephano showed early this summer that he was able to compete with the very best foreigners at LAN while still being in school. Since then there have been several strong indications that he's improved drastically, such as very impressive online tournament results, being able to focus on SC2 full time, outstanding ladder performance, praise and recognition from Korean players - and the big one, displaying a VERY high level play which comes clear for anyone who's been follow him and actually watched his games.
His victories over MMA and MKP speaks for nothing as separate events but everything included points to him being sick good at the moment. Is he the best foreigner? Hell if I knew, he could very well be. Or not. One thing that is clear though is that he's the most interesting and promising foreign player we have at the moment and deserves all the hype he gets. For good and bad.

Nobody in the world "consistently" takes games of those players.

So I don't think he'll ever manage do to so, especially if he doesn't go to Korea.

Well, as others said.
NO ONE, not even Nestea/MVP, take games "regulary" of these players because they are like in the top 5 (or 10) in Korea (and with that in the World)...

Ok, I apologise - that was worded really badly.
Let's just wait and see how he does at IPL3! GL Stephano

All I can say is, watch his stream, and compare his mechanics with some of the best korean zerg streamers (golden, phoenix, coca, yugioh). Having watched all of them stream, I will put myself on a limb and say that he plays FASTER than them, and is as efficient as any of them. The first time I watched him stream about 3 months ago, and without knowing stephano's tournament history, I told myself that he is a monster and has the potential to become one of the best zergs in the world, including Korea.
To the people who refuse to acknowledge stephano and say "he still he has to prove himself", your opinions don't hold the same weight as that of virtually all EU pros. Ofc, I think there even was a thread somewhere where it was accounted that MMA personally told stephano that in Korea, stephano is recognized as one of the top five foreigners. So yes, keep saying that he hasn't proven anything, when he has already gained notoriety in the Korean scene.

Thorzain does have a long way to go, Stephano too. I don't see people hyping Thorzain as the next big thing though. They're both good, but have room to improve.

Ignore him and move on, it's better for the thread. I don't hate non Korean players. I like the players that play the Starcraft I like with a general preference for Zerg because I mostly play Zerg and a bit of Protoss. My favourite players are Nestea, July, MVP, Sen, Ganzi, Polt, Ryung, MC, Idra. I just don't love foreigners because they're foreign, I like good players.
Ahh, So you an Idra fan no wonder you hate Stephano.

I was watching him stream all day last time he played before he went sick, he's playing like a top korean atm, he's not even looking touchable, good god :O

I'm amazed he was able to become so good while simultaneously going to school and filming the Transformers movies.
Now that he's devoting all of his time to SC2, he beasts out an unheard of ladder win rate. Is there anything he can't do?

Stephano is the bomb ! He and Thorzain are the best foreigners out there atm.
We just havnt seen Stephano yet in any big tournaments, but his début is near.

Let's not hype him to much please... I want to see how he performs at an offline event first.
