Many top Sc2 players are here for the money. I really doubt that all the former bw / war3 pros or even amateurs would have switched without the $$$ and the easier competition.
I think MVP said something about that in an interview. Now obviously if you want to make money you have to be the one of the best but the first motivation for those guys is money.

IIRC MVP said in an interview that his family is poor, and he saw a better opportunity to make
money in SC2 than in Broodwar. So he switched that he could support his family.

And i think it was a wise choice, considering he was a B-Teamer in Broodwar.

You actually have no clue what you are talking about. He was an A-Teamer on Woongjin stars and qualifying of an OSL and makign the quarters of an MSL in the twilight of his career..

Yeah, mvp was probably the most succesfull bw player when he switched, if you don't count the legends like Boxer, Nada or July.

He was an A teamer but he wasn't making a lot of money. Woonjiin was always the worst/poorest team with Estro and he wasn't even the best player here. Obviously he wasn't famous enough to get money with advertising and qualifying for an OSL doesn't pay enough compared to a GSL win or even #2.
So yea switching was more profitable.

Actually RebornSAGA is an American player who is in charge with keeping tournaments over at playhem organized and well run. I have participated in many tournaments and spoken with him multiple times and can assure you he is indeed American and not Korean.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I was just pointing out that he wasn't a B teamer like the person was presuming.

I thought he didn't actually play, and just gave his account to a korean, kinda like kOre gave his account to Pheonix. Could be wrong though.

Stephano's mass ling style is mind blowing to watch. Being a gm myself I tried it once on ladder and failed miserably =/

95% sure RebornSAGA is played by Artist since he used to stream from it before he got his RGN account.

And yeah, watching Stephano beat Kas with pure ling was just ridiculous lol

Doesn't change the fact that your are spouting false statements. Please do some research before making claims in the future.

Ok, obviously Stephano is really good, but I don't see a point in making a topic for everyone who goes #1 on the EU ladder. Today Mana on his stream went 18-1 or something, so why not make a topic about that too?

Let's hop aboard the hype train. Except not. Congrats to Stephano though I guess? Doesn't mean much to me unless is translates into some real world result.

In that case I think he might be lending somebody else his account once in a while, as I can guarantee I've seen that nickname pop up when I've downloaded replays of two korean players duking out out. Can't remember who exactly.

You mean the year he went to the finals as a huge favourite and shot his team out of the series, losing in five cos he averaged 37% from the field while insisting on taking over 22 shots per game? Oh yeah and he was playing with an all time great center who shot 62% that series but was only given 16 shots per game.

Plus I don't really understand the analogy anyway since presumably you think Kobe was not guilty of the rape* meanwhile Stephano is basically entirely to blame for the whole Millenium situation and deserving of pretty much all of the flack he took as a result.

* which btw he was not acquitted of, he settled out of court.
