According to Fomos and playxp, Boxer the Emperor will be commentating the WCG Korean qualifier starting September 24th!
rough translation of some important infomation:
Our big brother in Esports, Lim Yo Hwan 'Boxer' is now a commentator. As a 10 year Brood War veteran, Lim now runs the SlayerS Starcraft 2 team, which wins numerous achievements both domestic and abroad. He will be the commentator in the 2 elimination rounds of WCG 2011 Korea qualifiers on OnGameNet. As a current and veteran player, Boxer can provide a deep analysis to the games while novice audiences are able to understand easily. His first appearence as a Starcraft 2 caster is surprising.
To Mod: if the translation above is not allowed because of the fomos issue, please remove it.

What i read from Milkis's twitter:
Boxer will be commentating with TheMarine and Commentator Jeon at WCG Korea Prelims... he'll be commentating NaDa's game on 10/1
OGN will be broadcasting WCG prelim games in HD on their online service
Just thought it's worth sharing.

Well, thats what i read, maybe Milkis knows better. I have no info whatsoever.

Boxer commentating :D. I need to learn Korean so I can listen to his wisdom.
|
the nasty things i would do to hear it broadcasted in english
|
Would be SO siked if I knew Korean :/

Legendary player + legendary commentator, this is going to be AMAZING.
|
We are really going to need those VODs translated. It'd be a shame for non-Korean viewers to miss out on something so awesome, even if it means getting it later.

There's a lot of hype in this right now. The backstage talk discussed about sc2 last night with Nada on the show. Boxer is commentating for WCG, along with OGN's famous caster/commentators. Start the drum rolls because it seems like OGN has decided to take on SC2... and that means a LOT for the korean scene.

This shows that Boxer lost his passion for progaming like tasteless.

I would give you a ban if i was a mod for bashing casting games not "passion for progaming".

themarine and boxer? two of my all time favorite players.
if garimto joins those two...omfg!

i know... o.O
sorry for confusion, the tone was meant to be like boxer commentating along side themarine. garimto who's also a good caster(and legendary toss) would be awesome if he was part of it.

Yes, because Day9 has no passion for progaming. Right? He's hurting ESPORTS right?
|
Does that mean that the qualifiers take place in bunkers?

Fruitdealer would've been a better commentator, for obvious reasons.

Interesting to hear that WCG will be broadcast on OGN's online HD service. However, I'm highly interested to see if it's going to be broadcast on TV as well.
I think the low-resolution of standard TV broadcasts doesn't really do SC2 or any other modern 3D RTS justice. Proof of this can be found in the difficulty to watch the free, LQ GSL stream or in previous OGN Vods of previous non-BW WCG RTS games like C&C3.
However, being on TV does expose SC2 to a wider audience, which is quite nice.

Great great news, added to the OP.

Ha, obviously there's a thread about this, I'm dumb >< Really too bad that starcraft 2 will make it's debut on tv in this current state. It'll make laugh everyone :/ I was so pumped when the sc2 on OGN news broke out some months ago. Now I'm nearly shameful.

Boxer commentating SC2 on TV channel OGN?
Does this signify the potential signing on of OGN and KeSPA to supporting Starcraft 2? Maybe it's just a test case to see if there is any interest?
Out of curiosity, is OGN part of the basic or premium cable bundles in South Korea, or is it a specialty channel that has to be ordered separately?
|
this is so cool haha.. i'd listen to the korean stream just to hear boxer :D
