Yeah, HuK is "downgrading" as he receives life-changing money that will allow him to do what he wants -- very comfortably -- for a living. Total downgrade.

Uhhh, you basically just said the same thing he did. Yes huk is receiving more money, but no one can deny he is downgrading his practice environment. Your kidding yourself if you think practicing with Idra and Puma, will benifit huk in anywhere near the same way as practicing with the OGS house.

He doesnt even have another protoss to discuss strategies with.

Even with puma at IEM i could tell he hasnt kept up in skill at IEM (sure he is still an amazing player who can get to the finals) but 2 months ago when he was still practicing hardcore with TSL i highly doubt someone like mana could have taken him out 2-0, especially when he took out mc in a best of 7 (i dont think anyone will tell you that mana is a better player then mc).

I dont think puma will stand a chance against mc in the finals, MC has been practicing hardcore in a team house for the past 2 months, whereas puma has been practicing (more or less) like a foreigner (online with a few practice partners). In a few months puma will be pretty irelevant at any tournament where a korean shows up, is my best guess. Same with huk. Unless of course EG is planning on recruiting a whole korean team for their training facility, wich is highly unlikely.

You seriously think the OGS members won't help Huk practice?

Its because we perceive Liquid as the endgame for a team to be in. So now when Huk moved to a rival team of a rival player, it just seems strange. This is teamliquid.net after all, so we inevitably get emotionally attached to teamliquid and the players. Players switch teams all the time, but not much drama there (drama as in fans emotions not team/league scandals and arguments).

TeamLiquid was the best forgeiner team for a while however since MLG Dallas I think it was, they have been no where near the best team, they are simply the most visible team. Although they seem to be doing ok right now

As far as foreign scene goes, TL has been by and far the most successful team since release until today. It's absurd to even argue otherwise, as no other team gets even close when it comes to major LAN tournament wins and high ranks. TL is also the only foreign team to be represented in GSL (+ regular Code S) consistently since GSL Open 1 until several days ago.

Yeah there was a slump for 4-5 months, but that's not nearly enough for other foreign teams to catch up.

Not sure about that TBH, I mean in the last like 3+ MLGs idra has placed higher than anyone at TL so not sure you can sya "no other team comes close" Also Idra was still in code S when he left korea, so saying TL is the only foreign team to be represented in GSL since season 1 is wrong.

Idra's going back to korea and face the harsh reality that he probably won't get out of code b anymore.

The most important part is getting his skills up, since overall there's much more prize money in the international scene AFAIK. Newest TLOpen spoiler:
+ Show Spoiler +
He lost the finals to TSL.Heart 3-2 and showed that he has some ways to go yet. His ZvT seems kind of... stale? Then again, the metagame in the matchup is really difficult for Z right now.

This is true. In an interview with MorroW he said that living with other pro players didnt really change anything. They asked this exact thing. "But you can discuss strategies with your housemates and such right?". But he answered that he did that online before he went to the house.

The only thing that changes with such a house is that you can focus on SC easier since everyone there has the same in mind. Also you might get a more strict training regimen, but that depends on the "house rules".

that hype etc. was nearly 1 year ago. And he is only there for 1-2 month

what? im pretty sure idra moved back to the states just a few months ago. infact i dont think its even been half a year since he has been in the states.

Nice HuK making more paper. Nice EG is able to push the envelope too so players get what they deserve like their BW counterparts one day.

MLG isn't the only tournament in the world, and as I said - count the overall tournament wins and you'll see that no other team (and especially not EG with their 1 MLG win since release) comes close.

Also, I said TL is the only team to be represented in GSL Opens + Code S consistently since Season 1. That means we always had at least 1 player (even had 2 one season) in the highest tier tournament in the world.

Huk downgrading, but money is money

It'll be same practice regime - Different place.

You ignored the part where he said Huk wont have any protoss players to discuss strategies with

You ignored what I'm saying...
At this day and age, do you need to be right beside someone to chat with each other?
Nope, so he can still discuss protoss strats as he did when he was on the OGS house

No, its not the same. Anyone who has ever collaborated with an out-of-office colleague will tell you you that its a world of difference from talking face to face. Intangible advantages. Yes, even in this "day and age".
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

i thought Idra was adamant about staying in the US now.

Nonetheless, it's great to see these three titans teaming up! A terran, a protoss and a zerg, all of very high skill level! Hopefully both Idra and HuK will improve greatly after a few months with each other in Korea.

We might see a foreigner GSL champion some time this year!

Its sick how many people call themself fans... suddenly the player switches the team and they are not fans, but haters? Its a great thing that a player has such a value in eSports. If a player has no value, no money is put into eSports and it can't grow.
