Hong Jinho [YellOw] has signed Kim Ga-Yeon [SlayerS_Jessica] as his personal agent, putting his professional life, team relations/establishment, broadcast participation and all other activities under her management.
"Storm Zerg" Hong Jinho [YellOw] begins his career in Starcraft 2 in earnest.
YellOw signed a contract with Kim Ga-Yeon [Jessica], making her his personal agent. Jessica revealed on the 6th at the WCG qualifiers at the Intel eStadium in the Shindorim Technomart that she was "active as YellOw's personal agent", revealing the special relationship with Hong Jinho for the first time.
Jessica explained, "Having seen the Lim Jin Rok* Returns match, I came to know what a beautiful thing BoxeR and YellOw could create. I don't think the players could have looked any happier while competing and for the sake of the fans who enjoyed the event, I personally convinced YellOw."
Jessica had initially offered the recently-retired progamer YellOw a switch to Starcraft 2 on June 25th, but she received a reply saying that he did not have any thoughts of doing so at the time. However, there have since been a flood of diverse event invitations for YellOw and feeling the burden of personally dealing with schedules, he requested her help. In the midst of all this, Lim Jin Rok* Returns played out on the Haeundae beach of Busan, which fired up the competitive spirit of YellOw and greatly accelerated the contract discussions.
With Jessica also being the agent for BoxeR and manager SlayerS and, her contracted role with YellOw naturally first with her. Currently, game team leader Jessica may only have seemed to have only been active in looking after BoxeR as his fiancee, but has showed that she can convince other progamers into exclusive contracts.
In future, Jessica will be managing YellOw's public events as well as providing support for his career as a Starcraft 2 professional. To raise YellOw's skill levels, he will be provided with the same conditions as the SlayerS team members to train. However, to guarantee his individual activities as a player, he will not be joining the SlayerS dormitory.
In addition,YellOw can compete in the GSL preliminaries or even the GSTL as part of SlayerS, and once YellOw's skill levels have sufficiently improved, Lim Jin Rok may be taken abroad. Jessica explained that "While YellOw may be in the Gold League in Battle.net, he is a legendary progamer that once dominated a generation, and we at SlayerS are always open to taking in any player that shows potential."
However, YellOw is not entering SlayerS as an official team player. In addition, YellOw is only taking his baby steps in Starcraft 2 and due to his past legendary status in Starcraft, it was not right to take him as a trainee as in the case of Kim Siyoon [Eve]. Thus, it was decided that he would be an honorary team member. However, if there is ever a company or body that wishes to form a team with YellOw at its center, they need only to speak to his agent, Jessica. She believes that he has the capacity to reach a stage where he can lead his own team.
There has never before been an "agent" in eSports. Large-scale professional sports is filled with agents, but it has not only been unheard of in the decade-long history of eSports and in fact, players having their own personal agents have actually aggressively been discouraged.
On this, Jessica said, "While I have been acting as BoxeR's agent, being his girlfriend meant that this was not a a big issue. However, acting as YellOw's agent has made me realise that eSports professionals need agents just like sports professionals for their own advancement. I hope that after myself as a starting point, at there will be an influx of agents from professional sports.
Unlike other ordinary teams before, SlayerS will allow personal agent contracts for team members that have great skill and professional mindset. And it will be the aim of SlayerS to support them so that they can find good teams. I hope that this is the way that SlayerS be a team where all members will receive the greatest respect. The first player to have a personal agent was BoxeR and the second YellOw, and the third may be Moon Seongwon [MMA].
Henceforth, Jessica will be in charge of YellOw's professional life with team relations/establishment, broadcast participation and all other activities under her management. YellOw will be concentrating on improving his Starcraft 2 skills with Jessica and SlayerS to the level of current professionals.
*Lim Jin Rok is the name given to the perpetual series between SlayerS_BoxeR and YellOw

Update: I asked Jessica for clarification and her own words were that she will be personally dealing with YellOw and he is an honorary member of SlayerS.
Wow, big news!! But what I don't understand is didn't Boxer say that he does not want him on his team and that he should create his own team because it would help esports?
EDIT: Here we go:
Suppose that you did decide to come back. Do you have any thoughts of joining SlayerS? Yellow - If I make a come back then all realms of possibility are open. I'm not going to not go just because it's the team that has BoxeR. I think in order to overcome that person, being on the same team would be helpful. I think it's one good method. BoxeR - I'm against it. I think it'll be better if Yellow made his own team. If you look at the big picture for the Starcraft 2 market, I think Yellow having his own identity would be for the best for e-Sports.
Nice. I don't think I've ever hoped for someone to succeed as hard as I am doing for Yellow. A triumphant return of both Yellow + Boxer to the limjinrok days would be the greatest thing ever.
For people who are tearin up the shit in Brood War, I don't approve, but in this case Hong Jin Ho is doing the best thing possible he can do, with his own image and notoriety, for eSports!
This isint the beginning of an exodus, it's a tribute to eSports, HONG JIN HO HWAITING!
Pics from NaDa's Body are mandatory, except I'm kinda at work, so if some other NaDalites would oblige me...
great news knowing that the swarm has new hope and to everyone else it's frightening like a storm. goodluck hong Jinho! You don't need it but that's all I can afford to give you with my paycheck
it just sounds like hes signed on to have Kim Ga-Yeon deal with admin stuff while he concentrates on upping his skill level, doubt he'll join the SlayerS team

Indeed, but the translation doesn't even mention joining SlayerS (to the point he has translated up too) It just says him and Jessica have a contract so she is his PR agent as it will, maybe he will create a team, or just go solo for a while who knows, but this title is a bit silly considering not one point in the translation does it say that YeLLoW is a SlayerS player lol
The slayers team is pretty lacking in zergs. I mean min and yugioh are decent but havent made as big of splash as some of their terrans and their (well only one) protoss. Yellow should help quite a bit in that department.

This is kind of what I imagined too. Still awaiting further translation though.
he hasnt actually joined though yet, just being managed by jessica? So shes his agent but he isnt part of Slayers, obviously the bigger picture is when hes trinaed etc he will join sure seems like it even if Boxer was agaisnt it!!!

Ofc it doesnt say so, sorry. I just got super exited :p
But seriously, I would asume that have Slyers Jessica managing him could be closely related to Yellow joining SlayerS. But I am going to wait for the rest of the translation now, before I cause more confusion

Yo Hwan would push the practice partners until they would beg him to stop. Jin Ho would push them until they asked him to stop. Though he teased him for it, Yo Hwan understood that his soft approach was needed to balance the otherwise brutal training sessions.
Because the game is his whole world, he'll live with his back against the wall until he experiences that certain joy which is the reason for him sitting on that stage.

This is also what I would read out of all this...that Jessica helps him establishing in the SC2-scene so he can form his own team or something like that.
So, is there any proof that he did, in fact, join team SlayerS?

nope, he is not gonna join SlayerS. He can still practice with them but.. joining team is completely different story.

oh my god this thread title is super misleading. all it states is that slayers jessica has became his agent of sorts and that he has the choice to enter gstl with slayers. its not an official admission into slayers team and that he still has the choice to create his own team -.-

But it's still big news, isn't it?! Imo this is very big news, especially because SCII could be pushed a lot more inside Korea and Yellow participating in SlayerS could draw a lot of attention
So what makes you think Yellow will be better or as good as boxer? And boxer isn't that great as he can barely stay in Code A for a season. Was boxer a lower tier BW player? Even July isn't doing so hot anymore.

It's not all about results.
Back before SCII was out, I enjoyed wathing specific matchups, even if the players where not fighting for the first place in a tournament. Showmatches, Ro8 (e.g.) matches etc. can be pretty exciting with the right players facing each other.

YellOw's BW career lately was waaaaaay better than BoxeR's. While BoxeR was being SKT's other mascot, YellOw was still winning games (against some good players, too) for ACE. Of course, he saw almost no games for an entire year himself, so he's definitely out of form... but it's certainly reasonable to think of him as at least code A material.
Edit: This is good, YellOw needs to stay around in some form, be it player, coach, commentator... something. He's the capital O in ESPORTS, if he disappeared entirely we'd just be left with ESPoRTS, and that's no good.

They were accomplished BW legends. It's pretty cool to see how players from before I started following BW that I've only heard about play SC2. If you don't quite understand it, then that's okay, but give credit where it's due. These guys you mentioned dominated the BW scene at their peaks.
To raise YellOw's skill levels, he will be provided with the same conditions as the SlayerS team members to train. However, to guarantee his individual activities as a player, he will not be joining the SlayerS dormitory.
<3 being taken seriously
Can't wait for the results of his training! So excited for Project A ^^
I think people need to lay to rest that if the best BW players switch over they will dominate SC2. BW had better units compared to SC2, and sc2 is a game where any pro can take out any pro.

You think our excitement has anything to do at all with thinking he's going to be winning GSL's anytime soon? Much like Boxer, July and Nada, Yellow could no longer keep up with the younger generation in Brood War and was rotting away meaninglessly on the bench. By switching to SC2 it gives us fans a chance to see Yellow back in the booth where he was meant to be.

I agree with boxer, not fun seeing two rivals in the same team. oh well.
The only thing I see out of BW players switching to SC2 is that it will make SC2 much bigger and much more dedicated to. Usually where are the games held for a Ro32 match in BW? Is it as small as Mok-dong studio seems to be for GSL?

its happened, top, san, ensnare, even clide. I bet a player like Squirtle could take out Nestea in some way. Well you didn't see a foreigner take down a player like flash in BW did you? Even in SC2 foreigners lose to the top dog in SC2 such as Jinro/MKP.
Its amazing how fast he went from retiring and not considering taking up sc2 professionally to the complete opposite. I guess he got the bug again from the showmatch and figured he might be able to make some pocket change.
Hopefully this will open the door for more legends to make the move!

Flash started dominating when BW was already established for several years. SC2 is still new, of course there's noone like Flash who dominates the scene right now.
Also, as much as I love Jinro, he's not on the top anymore. He's on his way back up, but you can't put him on the same level as the top Korean Terrans right now. Same with MKP, although he's a lot closer than Jinro.

Losing a game to someone is not similar to get "taken out" by someone. It WILL happen that you lose sometimes, but overall you(in this case NesTea) just dominate them.
That is why you don't play just 1game but a BoX series. You might win a bo7 and lose 2games, but you still are the better player.
And eventually you will lose a complete BoX, but because the game is changing so quickly and has so many factors it doesn't mean he's suddenly way better than you if you dominated him all the time. He has to start winning more BoX vs you to truly say that he "took you out".
It's just wrong to say that any pro can take out any pro. To take out NesTea, it takes a whole lot. And not many people managed to do that in SC2 so far... Maybe your statement might be true for the foreigners and the "lower koreans" that are on a similar level and therefore lose/win against almost anyone of them, but that doesn't mean that we don't have dominating people in SC2.
Would be awesome to see Yellow to be one of the dominating players
This is huge! Especially after he claimed he would probably not switch to sc2, and definately not join SlayerS. Can't wait to see what he's going to accomplish.

Saw this coming, but am really glad it's happening. BoxeR and yellOw's friendship and rivalry continues! I do want yellow to join slayers though. Their zerg lineup is small and yellow was like my first favorite zerg player.

Ok well I was actually talking about Jinro and MKP when they were considered the top Terran players back in GSL Jan. And when they played each other in Jan.
he practiced for a month but I'm sure it was more like 2 weeks and now that he has some sort of training and that huge knowledge base flooding into his game he'll be high level soon
Slayers Jessica once again forging new paths in the e-sports business. She continues to impress me.
I wonder if Yellow will begin devoting himself more to SC2 now that pressure's being put on him. I love seeing the older generation compete in SC2, so it would be a lot of fun to have another old guy around.
Oh Yeah! I think it was BoxeR's idea to not invite YelloW to join SlayerS because he wants YelloW to create his own team and rekindle their rivalry. Jessica (and SlayerS) is just helping YelloW jump start his SC2 career.
Epic read fail by most posters. Comes to show that most communities just fail at reading and actually UNDERSTANDING shit that's been written.
Good to see that YellOw's thinking about being a part of SC2 - I don't care if it is as a player or coach, SC2 just needs those personalities, especially in Korea.
Wasn't that rather obvious after the show match? I mean, eventually all will either switch or retire imo. And most I believe cannot simply retire from gaming.
I hope that someone finaly show him baneling speed... that showmatch boxer vs yellow was sooooooo bad :< And that he will not finish like july=kamikaze zerg.
I think people underestimate how big this move is for the Starcraft II community in Korea. I have a feeling things will really start to pick up from here .
Oh holy shit! This is fucking amazing! Looks like YellOw and MKP are going to be fighting over that 2nd place title But no seriously, I really wish him luck and hope he becomes a great player!
Awesome basically slayers has taken him in to train so he can get on his feet and then if he starts to succeed he could make a team centered around himself.
This is very nice of slayers, and it obviously benifits jessica and boxer as well. Sweeet im super excited especially with his new tv show.
This will surely spark more interest in starcraft 2 in korea, i have no doubt.

How is the title misleading? Has the same manager and can play with them for GSTL, has access to the same training(though it said he won't be in the house etc. so I dunno what that really means...). So I have to ask, how is the title misleading at all? He is CLEARLY part of the Slayers family

I can't imagine him going through all of this and then end up barely practicing or dropping interest after a few weeks. I think he's too much of a professional and an ESPORTS athlete to let that happen.
How will this influence sc2 in korea? I read not too long ago that the crowd @ the gsl is somehow mostly foreign, will we see an increase in korean fans? What do you guys think?

Hopefully he'll pull some SC1 fans to SC2. I think this is mostly a precautionary signing of Yellow, in case he wants to get serious about the game some time in the future.
This is one of the best things that could happen to e-sports right now, especially after the loss of MBCGame and what seems like the gradual slip of BW's hold on the korean scene.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Blizzard and Kespa also reach some sort of agreement that might allow for other stations other than GOMTV rights to casting SC2?
if MLG remove the non-korean Code A. they might send yellow to MLG and just hope he get seeded in Code A, trying to qualify in Code qualifier A is hell.

Well, OGN will be showing the WCG qualifiers... so, yeah.
Exciting news, it'll be nice to see Yellow play Boxer again when he's practiced enough to really have a feel for the game on the same level. Awesome job by Jessica, she really does a shit load for all of SC so thank you to her! :D
Hi, TLers, Comet from wfbrood.com(China) I have translated this article into Chinese and posted it on www.wfbrood.com I have clearly stated that this was taken from here and I will bing the feedback from China back to here. Here is the link:http://bbs.wfbrood.com/thread-30039-1-1.html Thanks!

Who will be the marines in it?
MMA and boxer?
Hope he dedicates soon, I wanna see how good he can get at sc2.

BoxeR will go back to bed, MMA will get in the bunker and giggle for an hour while waiting for Yellow to wake up.
guys, in the new DES article yellow is saying he isn't calling it a "switch" or "comeback" because his skill level is so low. he says he'll only make an official announcement when he feels his skill is fully up to the task of competing.
furthermore, there is no mention whatsoever of yellow joining slayers. believe the title should be changed.

He is training with SlayerS, He isn't joining the team (yet?)... I think the title is fitting considering most everything he is gonna be learning will be from SlayerS.
I don't believe Yellow is ever going to join the Slayers family truly, unless noone picks him up because of Jessica, which i doubt. From the implications from both DES and this topic, it seems like he is training with Slayers, then going to or creating his own team once he reaches pro level. Thats just what i got from both topics.
Sweet, so Yellow is almost certainly going to be trying his hand at progaming again! Can't wait to see how he performs once he's got a month of SC2 hard training behind him!
Having Yellow on SC2 makes me feel nostalgic and at the same time hope for a birght future in SC2. Seeing BroodWar legends such as him transitioning to SC2 always put a smile on my face.
Even if the original article is exaggerated, it's great that Yellow is taking baby steps towards SCII. Hopefully, whatever relationship he settles on with Jessica as an 'agent' or 'helper' just gets him closer to beginning his SCII career.
Interesting, I guess this is a way for Yellow to be on slayers without being on slayers, I thought Boxer said it would be better if Yellow made his own team.
OMG international Lim Jin Rock?!!! I think I just wet myself a little. Wow this is such fantastic news, YellOw joining Boxer's team!!! He's going to all kill 24/7 in the gstl =P
This is great news, even if he won't be living with SlayerS, he will still be getting the benefit of SlayerS practice, next time I don't expect YellOw to lose so much to blueflame hellions now that he is in SlayerS house, he will get used to this build. ^_^;;;
Yeah.. totally saw that coming lol, though not in this particular setup admittedly. SlayerS_Jessica, ESPORTS powerhouse :O This could be pretty awesome, here's to hoping!
Oh my god lol, I was starting to forget about the whole YellOw retirement ceremony thing when the new Lim Jin Rok popped up, and suddenly there's a new Nal_ra show for this guy, and now he's kind of sort of part of SlayerS? Awesome! I really want him to succeed in SC2, and maybe the 'ol Lim Jin rivalry can be reignited for real.

title is a little misleading, granted, but it doesn't matter if yellow doesn't see it as a "comeback" or a "switch".
he is officially training to become competitive at sc2. doesn't matter if he doesn't think he's good enough. time will tell, but as it stands yellow is taking the game seriously and slayers jessica will represent him. that's what i took from the article ~_~
hope Yellow doesn´t join slayers... don´t want them to form a super team ala Miami Heat; rivals should remain rivals even if they are friendly with each other.
ok, slayers is ridiculous. They have Boxer, Jessica, Eve, now honorary member Yellow, Cella, and oh, 5 of the best terrans in the world and Alicia. This is begging for a weekly vlog series. Like a 5 minute episode a week. Endless entertainment and SC2 promotion. Make it happen!

Korean gold so not quite as bad. I've seen nothing to verify, but it's also been said that his practice so far has been mostly off the ladder so the league placement could very well be inaccurate.
He's also been playing for, what was it, a few weeks and didn't declare he was training seriously until right now? For as much talk as there is about how the ex-BW pros could switch over and play at the GM level in days was anyone taking that seriously?
RTS genius or not you still have to learn through your game specific failures before you start romping on people who've been playing for the last 12-16 months.
THIS IS SO AWESOME. YELLOW AND BOXER...TOGETHER AGAIN. so stoked....but..wait....if yellow goes sc2 pro....will mkp be getting 3rd all the time now?o.0
If Jessica starts a movement of agents for players and personally starts her own agency taking on more agents, ESPORTS will become significantly more legit.
I'm stoked. there is no other person I'd like to see doing this. JESSICA HWAITING THE PAPERWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll tell you what, Slayers seem to be up and down a little these days, but they know the business side of things like no others. Jessica is an outstanding business coach.
