Definitely agree with this. Just be honest.. :/

Well again, it's a business, so he can't be honest.

What EG did was underhanded. EG also has a history of acting this way.

But that makes me dislike the team. Not the players.

Is this seriously the argument of the pro-EGers in this thread? Seriously?

"pro egers" don't need to argue, we don't care if people are mad, because puma is happy and your opinions are meaningless to his.

Why would anyone be Pro-EG? Or Pro-Liquid for that matter? It shouldn't be about the teams, ie. their sponsors, it should be about the players. That is what is wrong with this thread, and the entire way the community is reacting to this. It's like no one has even read PuMa's (brief) response. He said you all are overreacting. You are.

This seems like a long and backward explanation for sniping off a player from another team. Oh well, now I just have all the more reason to root agaisnt them.

It just makes me sad that E-sports, while not even a SPORT yet, is already taking the worst parts from current pro-sports.

What's the point of watching a sport with no sportsmanship?

Agian, no ill-will towards any EG players or puma. I just no longer respect their team.

because teams represent their players and represent themselves as businesses. i don't really care about puma's personal choices; they are his to make. i don't hold any ill will toward him because he didn't do anything in particular. eg, however, is a professional organization, and has acted like a child this entire time.

I always got the impression that EG was a shady operation, dipping their hands into every money making scheme (and scam in the case of coaching), but this is just impressively low class of them. Business ethics 101, you don't just go poaching talent like that, especially in a small but growing industry. It's just sad to see them wasting no time in bringing out the worst aspects of a marketable "sport".

yea they invited TL to the team league and TL declined. Tyler and incontrol talked about it for 10+ minutes on an SotG episode.

I really don't understand why so many people are holding EG responsible when Coach Lee was the one who jumped the gun and blew this into a much bigger issue than it should've been...

Oh well.

Dog eat dog man, if you cant exhaust every option to get a sponsor and support a talent like Puma, perhaps you shouldn't be running a team. I know it is always a work in progress and you cant build upon nothing, but you also need to recognize your talent and get them signed. Even though this is occurring in the Korean scene if the coach was smart he would have recognized that a lot of business decisions do not depend upon culture and trust. A sad but true reality.

EG's actions aside, why didn't PuMa inform TSL after he was first approached?

He was with TSL for several months. It would have been decent of him to tell his coach/manager and fellow teammates about something that could significantly affect all of them.

-He knew he didn't have contractual obligations to TSL, thus knew they couldn't stop him from joining EG.

-He should have had enough opportunities to contact his team, via phone call or e-mail, while he was in the U.S. for weeks to participate in NASL.

I'm assuming TSL does not practice coercion (persuasion using force or threats) and PuMa had only to fear facing controlled anger and general disappointment from coach Lee.

I'm worried that EG is living up to the first word of their name instead of the second.

Has any other team ever had to make so many public apologies?

EG shouldn't have had to apologize for anything and to anyone saying Milkis deserves an apology, that is laughable. The guy pretty much destroyed the public image of EG's business in one biased post. (I'm not saying Milkis is biased, however the article he translated obviously was and had apparently very little actual fact on the situation.) Alex had a great point, Milkis is a journalist regardless of getting paid or not and as a journalist you can and will be held accountable for covering a story with such blatant disregard. However I think after the discussion with Alex on WoC he will indeed be more careful before posting in these situations from now on.

Anyways as for the actual situation, EG is totally in the right. The player was not under contract and therefore had no obligations to TSL. I do believe EG was fully intending on contacting the coach of TSL after PuMa had brought it up, however I believe this was unnecessary. The fact that the player was under no contractual obligations to me means EG has the right to discuss the issue with the player directly regardless of cultural and/or ethical differences.
