Nice, more Bitter casting is always a good thing. He isn't juvenile, he's articulate, he understands the game and he has a great casting voice. Great choice.
Time held me green and dying though I sang in my chains like the sea.

I don't want to get anyone banned for warned or anything like that, but if anyone could tell me what they don't like about Mr. Bitter, I'd be very interested in hearing what they have to say.

I'd like to say congrats to Ben. As someone who dreams of casting SC2, it's good to see someone "making it".

Grats to Mr. Bitter.

And to every person who thinks Bitter is a biased commentator, you're delusional. People hear him say things like "wow, this is such a bad situation for the zerg right now because of X", that doesn't mean, "wow, fuck that protoss or terran player for doing something imba versus zerg", it means "wow, I've played in this situation a lot and that zerg player is in trouble!"

He's bringing a level of analysis to the game that we don't get to see as often as we should in pro commentating. We're used to hearing people give their neutered "this is what's happening" casting without ever bringing the game knowledge into the equation that gives depth to casting. When Mr. Bitter says "Wow, that was such a good play from zerg, his multitask versus Protoss is unreal" you know that means something.

Did you ever listen to Day[9] cast Brood War games? He talked a ton about what the smart plays for Zerg were, or what he didn't like about what the Zerg was doing, because he played Zerg competitively at the highest levels for years, and he knew if the zerg was fucking up or doing something really good.

People love hearing IdrA commentate, do you know why? Because he knows what the fuck he is talking about. When he sees something, he'll tell you what's going to happen because of it and it will be right. He knows, and people like to hear that. Do you think GARIMTO became a commenator and didn't share his game experience in his casts? Do you think OGN Hired Nal_Ra to give a neutered commentary and never give any depth to his Protoss analysis? FUCK NO.

Stop thinking that just because a player brings some experience to the table, he's biased. Without people with real game knowledge commentating, the commentary becomes useless to all but the newest to the community. What do people expect him to cast like, fucking Chill's Neutral commentary?

Had ot got that off my chest after seeing so many hate responses because he's "biased". Gl Mr. B and it will be great (hope you keep playing competitively though)

Don't think DeMuslim was in it fully either. He's also got a semi decent chance of playing the game better than Bitter. I hope Bitter plays all races now so we won't have a smooth talking idrA on TV. The last thing we want is constant whine. But his flow is awesome and if he touches it up with insights, I think we have a great caster in the making. Look at what happened with Gretorp, no reason why Bitter can't one up that.

congrats mrbitter. he's really insightful and informative and is good with words. i don't think the bias criticism has any merit. he's not biased because he thinks "zerg sux nerf toss and terran." he's biased in the sense that he has more information to relay about the zerg since he plays zerg himself. and that's totally fine.

I think MrBitter is a great commentator so I dont reallly get the flametalk here. I guess once the ball gets rolling, whiners and flamers will just tag along. Its a shame. MrBitter would be an asset as a commentator to any league or tournament.

I've only seen the MLG showmatch between White-Ra and Ret and sure you're right to a extent. But he also whined quite a bit and argued alot with TLO about stuff being so bad for zerg and his cast was more or less totally focused on what Ret was doing, how good or bad it was for the zerg player instead of focusing equally on both players. From your portrait i guess you play zerg so you might not care, i have a hard time watching casts where the casting pov is very centered around one player/race.

MrBitter is in my opinion a pretty good addition to the ESL-casting staff. I really enjoy his recents online casts and his 12 weeks with the pros project, so that I'm really looking forward to this first cast in his new "home". He is a much better choice for an commentator as for example Take who isn't able to cast games in a proper way (that's at least my point of view).

So many talented, good knowledge haveing casters out there
why, why Mr Bitter is the chosen one.
I mean i can listen to his casts (its a good thing ^^) but without a doubt there are many better casters which esl couldve picked up

who do you have in mind? i can't think of anyone actually.
it's not realistic that someone like tastosis or day9 would move to germany to cast for esltv (and i'm not even sure if i'd prefer day9 over mr. bitter, some day9 casting once in a while is great, but i don't think i wanna be told how AMAZING everything is 3 times a week or so)
so who else could esl have picked up?

also, welcome to germany and good luck to mr.bitter! i don't really know you that much yet, but that's surely gonna change and i'm excited to see you in action. although i enjoyed rotterdam's solocasting, having 2 casters is pretty much always better and i''m glad, esl picked someone who actually has good knowledge of the game.
btw even if you're a bit zerg biased (i simply don't know), it's not that bad, since rotti is always whining about zerg. things may get pretty hillarious... :D

I watched that, and I can't disagree more. I didn't hear him whine once.

And yes, I play zerg, but that doesn't matter. Mr. Bitter isn't unique in what he brings to the casting table. HE brings his ingame experience just as any pro player does. Did you watch HSCIII? Tyler is very much the same in his casting to protoss as Mr. Bitter is in relation to zerg. They understand that race, of course you're going to hear more about that race from that player. THat's why there are two commentators.

yea welcome to germany dude! pretty huge step to move from the US to germany, so best of luck for a great and long carreer in germany!

Their might be the problem that Mr.Bitter isn't as known in germany or even europe compared to his status in the US, but nevertheless I guess he will convince everybody with his casting style.

And also there's no alternative in europe. Name on if you can!

HomerJ gotta be a joke, since he's obviously one of the worst casters ever. I guess he could be fun for guys who only speak german are very new to sc or sc2, but for someone who knows the game it's just terrible to see him missing like every drop and talking offtopic bs more than ingame-stuff.

Anyways great pickup for both sides, again best of luck to you Mr.Bitter!

I only saw MrBitter casting at NASL. It felt like he was not favoring a race, but some players, he always tried to make positive comments about those players, which resulted in a lot of wrong comments, like watching queens with 150 energy and telling "This guy got decent macro" or watching how a player is spamming APM with the comment "He is doing so much, look at his APM", while it was obvious, that the player did nothing but spamming APM at that moment.
I think MrBitter is overrated and his overall game knowledge seems to be average at best.

However, thinking about day[9], who forces me to adjust my sound volume 10 times per minute because he starts shouting way too loud when ever something happens, and who overanalyzes every single game (which already ruined some matches at MLG)... i still prefer MrBitter.

The main problem on casting is: No matter what you do, you will always be disliked by a lot of players. By saying "The game is balanced" you will get the same amount of haters as you will get from favoring a specific race.
After all, we cannot clone Tastosis , so MrBitter is not the worst choice.
