why does the international scene matter -Milkis

wtf, of course it matter. Western esport/player are just as relevant as koreans.

It doesn't matter, Koreans now have to compete with Non-Korean. The Koreans are going to be in trouble because they're behind the business side of things.

That kicks the bucket..

The Korean community needs to lose their hubris, seriously.

It's not cute anymore, it's not admirable, it's just arrogant and the cultural argument is getting old if that's what they really think. I hope it isn't.

And you wonder why EG has Puma on the way.

Whatever, I'm Korean, born in Korea, and am psyched as all hell that AG and EG are moving to give SC2 players the money and glory I think they deserve.

Not only that PUMA is korean, he knows what the fuck is up. Why is everyone taking Coach Lee's side and not PUMAs?

LET HIM TALK AG

You run your company in a manner aimed to poach players who aren't contracted? That's what I got from AG's two minute ramble

I think he was saying that he runs his company in such a way that his players won't get poached when contracts are up, so he's playing the game when the Korean scene doesn't want to be a part of it. But his argument is also that the scene is international and players and teams are not constrained to a geographical area, so the Koreans are pretty much forced to play the game (contracting their players and looking at things from a business standpoint)

but that's just my interpretation

All I have taken from this thread is this.

People Hate when other people get the CHANCE OF A LIFETIME.

this Kid may MAY have done ok even gone to code s after what 4-5 months. when this other company comes a long and says "hey we will pay you to travel all over the world and play in TONS of different tourneys, your young enjoy life and we will bankroll that". Outside of Korea this kid will live the fucking dream. if you were 19 and played with friends and a guy gave you the same deal but you had to leave your friends for a couple years, you would be a idiot for not taking that.

Poor Puma for having fun.

Nobody hates or anything. They just don't like this move at all. Just like you grow your best student and he'd be taken away on his first day outside the country. Feel like betrayal you know.

but if he was being taken away for a much BROADER education you would not be proud of him?

It's like you think Korean culture is solely about SC2. Look at contracts in BW, in Korean business, etc.

I think this is what Milkis is trying to say. In Korea, not many teams do this kind of thing while EG have done this many times before.

Any who's fault is that? They know by Rain, foU, and Oz that Korean players are subject to foreign interest.

I mean Korean teams don't "poach" players from other teams.

If Puma liked TSL's offer, he wouldn't have been interested in joining EG. 'Nuff said. TSL doesn't offer enough for him.

I wish this would have been on SotG instead. Wheat and WoC is in bed with EG, that's no arena for a proper discussion on this matter.

Everyone seems to quoting this, but I think milkis was interrupted by djwheat before he was even able to make his point. He wasn't really saying the international scene doesn't matter - that would be just ignorant. He was rather talking about the korean culture and trying to help Alex understand why the way they approached Puma created the uproar that it did.

That sounds like a well run company to me. Why would you not poach under-compensated talent if it is available and you have the need for it? It is just standard operations for most companies, and it benefits employees at the cost of employers who do not compensate their employees sufficiently.
