Alex really doesn't get that avoiding the teams to contact players is a shock to a market that doesn't rely on contracts.

Maybe noone wants to hear this but I dont think that Wheat is managing this conversation that well. He should explain the points milkis is making more because its hard to follow and he should let Alex explain more about how this works in the foreign scene to get a good view on the other side of things.

Yes, that's a dumb thing to be pissed about when compared to that whole globalization of ESPORTS, but it's still the thing that should be focused on

once again, Rain going to FnaticMSI is the complete counter arguement to what Alex is saying

Because he already addressed that issue. He said that TSL released this news prematurely as Puma has not even signed with EG yet. He goes back to the growth of Esports because he has criticism of the korean "inclusive" method of doing it. And he has good reason to be critical of it as well, even in BW (which is much much larger in korea then SC1), most of the pros do not make a salary. What he is saying is that people should not think that foreigner teams picking up korean players is a bad thing, because it means more money for the players, which we all want. Thats why he gave the brazil example, as brazilian leagues do not pay as much as lets say european leagues, but brazilian players are still able to make money by playing in different leagues.

TSL never talked to EG. Puma comes back and says "I'm leaving the team for EG". Despite the fact TSL housed/fed/trained him with their money for 10 months, the second he wins something EG poached him.

They also tried to poach contracted players (sen) and all the other korean players.

They talked to him when he got top 4 at NASL and not after he won.

Also Yes TSL housed/fed/trained him but its not like they dident get anything in return from PUMA's advertising at NASL and other places.

Why couldn't AG just contact Coach Lee and say "hey, we're interested in recruiting one of your players. Because Puma said he'd do it. Puma might have screwed that up a little.

Because Puma told AG that rather than doing that, EG should just let Puma talk to Coach Lee first.

This point has been made repeatedly, in this thread and on the show.

From what AG alluded to earlier on the show, it seemed that EG was considering forming something inside of Korea -- maybe even the mythical Korean EG house. Either way, I don't think its probable that EG is getting Koreans without considering the effect that training and practice has on them.

They're building an infrastructure to handle good Korean players.

they've been talking about that for how long? Really want to see EG do that. Seems like they want to buy top players instead of supporting their team in america.

Because he said they did that with other Korean teams and the Korean teams demanded a transfer fee that was more than what EG is worth as a whole company.

Which I can understand. If you have a top SC2 player in the world, why you give them away without a boat load of cash?

Most of you guys don't understand that the way how the Korean SC2 team works is that they ask unrealistic prices for their players when any other team shows interest leading to players being usually undermined financially.

puma said he'd do it after alex already presented his offer to him, and he was weighing the issue (basically decided to take it).

what most of us want to know is why alex didn't contact coach lee before presenting his offer to puma. handing him a business card is fine. presenting an offer is not.

Does it not seem incredibly ridiculous that this matter is supposed to be 'settled' on a talk show that is collaborating with EG?

This feels like such a waste of time. No-one is ever going to find out anything because EG is not going to tell anything. And this is going to be EG's way of settling the score.

It is just tiresome.

Yet in BW they used contracts and pride themselves around Kespas structure?

So basically, 250 pages of dramatization and condemnation just got owned when we heard the other side of the story and the simple fact that Puma told Alex that he shouldn't bother talking to coach Lee, Puma would do it himself. Not only that, but Puma hasn't actually been signed yet.

I refer you all to my post on page 107 of this thread:

"What does it say about the human race that we have 107 pages of sweeping conclusions and condemnations despite having very little information about what actually happened (and only one side of the story)?"

Wow, such a dick move by EG and Puma after I read the update. I have no problem with transferring players in sport. But backstabbing like the way EG did was so coward. Puma is just a greedy traitor. Hell I like him a lot after NASL, and I didn't hate EG that much.

and like I said earlier in the thread, Puma isn't signed literally. That means, he hasn't sat down in the EG headquarters in the States, and wrote his name down on the carefully written contract.

He's already left TSL, he's basically with EG, and like I said earlier, he's just in transit

According to the TSL interview, Puma didn't make a full decision until after he'd returned to Korea, so it sounds like EG was left semi-hanging. They new Puma was interested, but he hadn't actually agreed yet.

Puma made his decision, talked to Mr. Lee, and Mr. Lee went public with it (probably before Puma even said to EG "Okay, hand me the contract").

It all comes down to Lee and EG not communicating. I'm sure we would have none of this drama if they talked with each other. I'm sure Lee would be fine with Puma going to EG, but he feels betrayed by puma and is mad with EG because nobody told him about this, so it gives him a bad impression of this whole situation.
