I can't fathom how anyone can listen to this and not understand Alex's point. His points are ten times more articulate and well though out than anyone else's. My opinion on this issue is completely changed after listening to this.

They invited him to the discussion. On a Sirscoots (eg) co-owned show, with DJ wheat , to discuss with an EG person.

It's pretty one sided.

AGs point is off-topic though, that's the thing.

This thing is actually a lot smaller than what it seems, Coach Lee is pissed that EG didn't contact him personally.

That is it.
That's what all the evidence points to,

all this ESPORTS stuff that AG is talking about is completely out of left-field

To be honest its safe to say that despite what is done here with the update on the OP about coach lee and the SC2 assosciation taking measures to prevent this - it is CLEAR that EG has fucked up something with the relations with korea and that cannot be lied. Whether it be destroying the koreans own inbuilt trust rather than contractual relation ship ( this inturn might trap future progamers into TERRIBLE contracts that are detrimental rather than good) so in the end people who are saying that this is nothing truly are blind and it is indeed thanks to EG.

I have to agree with Alex Garfield that you can't just copy the Korean system from broodwar. Historically this kind of thing doesn't turn out well when esports try to go global.

If you look at the rest of what he has said. It sounds like they've been planning for a long time to pick up a Korean for the team, but ran into this barrier that they just could not afford. The new plan became to find the up and comer within their range and grab him before he gets a transfer fee/contract. NASL/GTSL was PuMa's pre-contract breakout and they jumped at it before TSL had the chance.

They will be ok if you pay enough. But enough is different concepts for people. You can't say its too expensive so you dont like that system and you want that system to change. Now that is wrong.

Everyone lost the plot.

Alex has zero clue about Brood War or the Korean scene. Milkis has zero clue what TSL are thinking and he's totally nervous.

It's just going around in circles.

Ok think i'm done with all of this now. At the end of the day, there was technically nothing wrong with what EG did. If I were in their shoes, I would pursue the best available players at all times as well, especially to strengthen and grow my business/ brand. The only things that could or should have been done differently are:

1. Approach the coaching staff as a courtesy, considering you are talking about taking one of their players.

2. It just seems bad form to recruit a player from another team while he's in the process of winning your tournament under that team. If you had the infrastructure to pursue a top korean progamer, i'm certain you could have pursued this either pre or post tournament.

imho anyway.

Milkis has lost the plot long ago. AG is the only one talking sens.

Even then at least let the man finish a fucking sentence. I think AG just really enjoys hearing himself speak.

All of you are ridiculous. If EG was really trying to be underhanded, they would have made Puma sign already. They could have told him to not talk to the coach at all. They could have prevented this information from reaching the press. They could have done ANY NUMBER of things to keep this a secret until some kind of binding legal arrangement. In fact, if I were a team manager and wanted to sneak a player away, I would be slamming EG for being total fucking idiots about it.

Unpaid player with no contract now has opportunity to get paid for their passion? Victory for starcraft2. More money from outside of korea coming into the scene? Victory for starcraft2.

The only sad thing to me is if the coach was using money from his own pocket to keep this player in the team house. But it is the coach's fault for not enforcing a contract, like EVERY OTHER sport or league of significance. That mistake will not be made again. My biggest fear is that korean teams are now going to their players and saying: "here is a shitty contract where the korean league and the korean team have all the power, take it or never play sc for a korean team". But that is just protectionist bullshit.

Basically you are saying he was in a semi-slave situation, while most people see it as an opportunity to get a piece of the cake of e-sports.

To me, it does not justify how EG approached this.

Puma wasn't under contract when he spoke with EG and EG hasn't even signed him yet. Puma is not TSL's slave and EG shouldn't have to consult TSL about decisions that are Puma's to make.
