I just can't agree with Milkis. There is no way the korean teams are going to want to chance losing their star players to richer organizations..

While Alex smooth talks this very well, he's avoiding a critical point. His argument is access to Korean Progamers.

As someone pointed out, please explain:

fnatic.Rain
FXOz
FXO and fOu buyout

He's just trying to demonize a culture to justify, in his view, the approach taken with Puma. Which is hilarious.

I can't remember rain but fOu team as a whole were having financial difficulties and seeked help from FXO.

Alex arguing that buying out Koreans is for the greater growth of esports. Personally I think that if a bit more work / money / time was put into the actual FOREIGNER players it would be better for esports.

They put up an EG house... they are working on the Foreign development as well.....

They don't have an EG house right now to my knowledge. They've talked about it for a long time though.

Eh, I've never really liked people who are really smooth talkers and use that to their advantage. I'm definitely not warming up to Alex at all, here. Usually, being a smooth talker just lets you make yourself appear more "right" than you truly are to the ears of an audience, and it always feels pretty dirty to me.

Usually I like smooth talkers, but I'm getting a "vibe" from Alex that he IS using it negatively (to me) as well. Sigh

Yeah. I mean, I guess I wasn't clear enough: We all have our own moral compasses, and I, like most people, dislike smooth talkers that use their abilities to make positions that go against our own personal moral compasses seem more "right". So yeah, I agree with you totally.

You are completely correct. He uses his positional advantage in terms of his ability to argue a point in his favour more easily than someone who is not in direct opposition, and is also communicating in a 2nd language.

Alex tries constantly to stop Milkis and interrupt him, dashing his confidence, and it doesn't earn him points with me.

Is the audience biased or going into this with predisposed beliefs, or is something actually offputting about Alex Garfield's comments? I can't tell.

It's the spin AG is basically spinning the argument in a million different ways to change the topic from what happened.

aka trying to say its about mixing korea/international scene.

Hes re-framing the debate from poaching a player to internationalizing the scene.

It's also the fact that he keeps trying to talk over Milkis. It's annoying as hell, and really illustrates how eager he is to just keep talking to spin things as much as possible.

I am all for this. Starcraft is about the players not the team. Puma may have been receiving training, but he was not receiving a salary. This is just a good career move for him. In industry, while you may start out with a low salary while you are trained, it is expected that your salary will increase once you prove your worth, or no-one would hold it against you when you switch companies. I don't understand the demonization of EG, hiring under-payed, over-performing employees from other companies is just standard practice in the real world, and never ask each other for permission first.

Yeah Alex is really good at changing the topic away from why people actually are not happy with the way it went.

Milkis and Wheat just keep accommodating him too...

This is just like any other situation where they bring out the Alex Garfield card. Quoting this because I honestly feel this to be true.

Who cares? Either he does it this way, or he does it as a written statement and people can't ask for clarification or follow-up questions, it's no worse than the TSL coach releasing a statement where both sides are not invovled.

Nice to see Djwheat and sirscoots back on track hating on everything/everyone not being a yank. I remember when they ganged up on HLTV.org a year or so ago and totally flamed this very nice guys to death while it was slasher, sirscoots and djwheat and only one single poor guy from hltv taking all the shit they threw at him.

It's because Alex keeps talking over him, Milkis is trying to talk without being interrupted every other sentence.

This is not just about the "debate from poaching a player to internationalizing the scene" but also about what is about to happen with the other players in korea.
