You make BW players hate SC2 and SC2 players.

Correct. I don't enjoy SC2 very much at all, but I don't want to see it or its players fail.
Why can't people just like what they like, dislike what they dislike, but let both of them succeed? SC2 players don't need BW players to swap or the BW scene to collapse in order for SC2 to be VERY successful. BW players don't need SC2 to disappear or fail for BW to continue to succeed.

I really hope this is the start of the transition ! You have no idea how I want to see Flash play SC2 ! Why would Flash move to SC2 because it gained popularity. You realize he makes a lot of money on his salary alone. Add on his tournament winnings. Sure, he could swap to SC2 because it's "more popular" but he'll lose his really good paycheck. Swapping to SC2 from BW right now is like swapping to a job that pays a ton less, when you're in love with your current high paying job. Why would you do it? - in Flash's case, at least. The other BW pros that migrated over are doing well, and they are making more by prize money than salaried on their other teams (possibly. They weren't winning shit in BW tournaments in any case). It makes no sense for Flash, but it could make sense for like...Juni or Perfectman or something. I think he's talking less about the players making a switch on an individual basis, like MC, and more like the infrastructure making a switch. Of course its just speculation, but I would imagine that players with contracts now would have to be bought out of them, if the BW scene transferred to SC2.
Yes, but I don't think he's talking the way you are.
You make sense with what you say. However most people are like FLASH MOVE TO SC2 LOLOL and expect him to drop a 30k Salary (or whatever it is) to play a game that's not on salary pay. Except TSL but it's not close to what Flash is making, I imagine.
Anyways, let's not turn it into another SC2 vs BW thread. If people want to debate it or talk about it, PM me. I'm bored in class today. Here isn't the place, unless we want to start a ban trap :p
I was under the impression OGN has the rights to broadcast WCG from the brood war days, so I don't think it's a huge deal. They might have wiggled themselves into an exception for SC2 broadcast, or they just paid Blizzard for the event.

It would be really cool to have an sc2 league with the production value of OGN. Although I'm not sure how the korean public will react to it.
|
This makes sense since BW is being dropped by WCG... hopefully just the first step in the the thawing of relations between Kespa and Blizzard.
|
Any idea who will be commentating?
|
OGN broadcasting sc2 should be considered a big deal. It shows that sc2 has potential to make it in korea.
Right now BW is like american football and SC2 is like real football. Koreans love BW, but are iffy about SC2 whereas the rest of the world is on fire for SC2. It's only a matter of time before it takes off. Also, SC2 still has a few expansions in the works. It can only grow over the next few years.

Nooooo sir, not 30K salary. Much more than that. Think around 200K. This is why any of the TBLS switching would be just a stupid idea for them financially.

maybe he meant 30k a month!?
I wouldn't be so excited about it, it's just the rights to cast WCG. SC2 will not get any further in Korea than this. At least for the time being, maybe later..who knows

Whatever, I wasn't really concerned with what his actual salary was, the point stands. Haha.
I got like 5 PMs of his actual salary, haha.

Tbh I'd rather watch it castes by Koreans, I understand little except for unit names and abilities, but it's so much more hyped.
Or u can listen to someone talk about their nerds chills

Chances are Gom allowed WCG, for good reasons, broadcasting rights to the SC2 games. Since OGN broadcasts WCG in Korea, this is why OGN is broadcasting SC2. I tweeted about it since it wasn't stated on one of the articles I read despite other WCG games being stated to do so. Then I read a TIG article that stated it
You guys are reading FARRRRR too much into this. This is just a part of WCG. OGN can't do anything other than that since GOM has exclusive rights to broadcasting SC2 for 2 more years.
But OGN and MBCGame can still negotiate a sublicense to broadcast SC2 with GomTV can't they?
|
this will not change much for the time being. Its WCG and that's it. Once Goms exclusive rights are over for SC2 then we will really see how much korea actually likes it.

Hopefully this further sprouts the growth of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in Korea! Maybe MSL2 or OSL2 coming within the next year? (Gretech's rights to KR SC2 broadcasting ends within a year, give or take some time)

The BW players need to realize this isnt disrespect, its respect -_- Of course anyone who plays SC2 is gonna be excited (or scared, depending on your view point) as hell just thinking about the prospect of Flash playing SC2.

I think it depends on the context, to be honest.
When I hear "I hope this is the start of the transition" it makes it sound like they want everyone from BW to stop playing BW and move to SC2. I hope my long ranty post about it made it sound like I was making that point and not that I hate everyone who says "flash in SC2 would be AWESOME"
It's respectful when you want to see a player play SC2, professionally or casually. I'm cool with people getting wet in the panties about _insert BW player here_ playing SC2.
It's only really annoying and frustrating to hear when people comment on it like they want BW to just go away forever so that SC2 can be the "top starcraft" game.
Hopefully that makes sense. ^^

I have to strongly disagree, mate. To a BW fan it's equal to "who gives a shit about your game, let's have them play my game", especially to those who do not care about sc2.

It's still a sensitive issue and people need to word it better. It's like LoL players going "I hope Starcraft 2 dies already so TeamLiquid switches coverage to LoL". Respect for TeamLiquid but annoying as hell
