I think in this case, she got really good apm, but what kept her from becoming master is her mechanics. Like if Idra is free and want to join Slayers, they woulnd't want him anyway, because they don't see how much he can improve. QFT Slayers recently haven't been recruiting people that have been GSL champs. They have good players but their team isn't the strongest AT THIS POINT. On the other hand, they look for POTENTIAL. It is as you said. Slayers isn't looking for the best players now, but rather players who are good but just don't have the mechanics, timings, perfected build orders, and game sense beaten into them yet. I'm actually really excited to see what team slayers will bring in the future.

Its hard to imagine a better team to bring that out than Slayers. Its possible its 100% because she looks good, but I would actually give a team like Slayers the benefit of the doubt - BoxeR does have an eye for talent. Im gonna make the same assumption here as I would with any new recruit to Slayers - no, of course she will not live in the team house. Thats because Slayers operates like an SC1 team with an A team in the house, and then online members. I do hope that if she becomes A team level, she would live in the house, just because I think that would be extremely good image wise ----- however, to be realistic, I would probably consider it pretty daunting to live alone with that many guys, as the sole girl so I couldnt hold that against her if she ended up not doing so. Plenty of male progamers prefer to live outside of the team houses anyway. As well as 100% of bw female progamers.

I agree though that being in diamond thing and having most notable wins be silver leaguers is a big question mark as far as forecasting how good she is. However, they seem to make decent talent scouting and promoting decisions at SlayerS, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until she plays.

Here's hoping! tossgirl is actually really fucking good and rapes most korean semi-pros whereas apparently half of TL is better than slayerseve i don't think those are really close comparisons

Her being diamond is a bit strange, but I trust that a team like slayers wouldn't just pick her up because she's female, and that we will see her do well in the GSTL/GSL in the future. Huk says destiny is good, so I take his word for it. Anyway, when I came to Korea, Alicia used to mass ladder games hard, and he would ALWAYS cheese - every single game was proxy dt, proxy expo, proxy void ray, proxy gates, 4 gate and so on - I thought he was the type of player that would never get anywhere. Turns out BoxeR thought completely the opposite, recruited him, and now hes one of the best protoss players in Korea. If he made the pick (I dont know how Slayers runs, so I have no idea if he did), then I have faith that there is talent in her.

He did not say that females are stupid. I recall reading what he was talking about. I unfortunately don't have a link, but it explained that the brain basically comes from a female mold, and that androgens induce all the changes that make it male. This process is somewhat volatile and can go either way, meaning that men and women have the same average IQ, but there are more men at the top and bottom of the bell curve.

But I'm really glad SlayerS is starting to include girls (one for now), it's always a good thing to see the world of esports maturing to allow everyone to become part of the scene

Wouldn't it be better to recrute Master players who already can play the game and form them into pro players? But then again, most of the players aint pretty girls either. Honestly, standing out from the average is a pretty great feature to have - Im pretty sure the standards a Korean team would have for a white-guy are a lot lower than for a Korean. When I came to Korea I was *NOT* good by Korean standards... Obviously I think if it becomes too widespread, its a problem because it would delute the integrity of the sport, but I think taking a complete flier on someone who shows promise, without having to invest much, sounds like a good plan. The pay-off is good, the loss if she doesnt work out is no bigger than for anyone else (for the team anyway, might make the road harder for future women wanting to play professionally).

The girl is playing at mid-diamond at best, there's no amazing potential shining through in any diamond players which is going to make Boxer think they're the next karate kid. I'd rather SlayerS recruited Kellymilkies if they want to hire girls for attention, least shes masters.

Or I could be confused, if I am am, my apologies. ps: Nothing against kelly, I think she is quite good.
