after reading the blog there is one issue about SC2 at Dreamhack.

2-3 thousand people was standing in line to watch the finals, 1,2 got in. They need a much bigger stage for SC2. Time to brainstorm before Dreamhack Winter!

The post seems very SC2-centric. But I wonder the same thing. If it's only SC2, then it's beyond amazing.

Yeah, me too. I think it was said that LoL had 1.7 million unique, so maybe you can break it up from there. Sc2 was probably around ~1.2mill

Huge numbers, love to see so many people watching.

Well that would give cs + quake+ hon 0.1 mil unique views.. which clearly isn't realistic. Got any source on that 1.7 mil for LoL? I think thats a little to much and that its more than 3 million in total btw.
To topic, epic epic epic! So nice to see esports going in a cool direction! HUGE congratz to dreamhack for hosting an awesome event, The Event.

I wrote the blog post - the viewer numbers is for DreamHack Summer as a total with all of the games (Quake Live, Counter-Strike, League of Legends, StarCraft2, SF4, HoN, Bloodline Champions etc.).

From sources I've heard the official stats will be released next week, and I think the StarCraft2 numbers will be really high as well as League of Legends.

By comparison MLG had 450 000 unique viewers for all of their games and SC2 stood for a majority of this.

Yeah, it was just mentioning Sc2/LoL forgot that figured in css/quake. Then again they didn't have huge stream numbers, so it's still around that ballpark of ~1million.

And yes, 1.7 is accurate for LoL. http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/06/lolseason1-1million/

Well with LoL final getting 110,000 viewers i beleive it was? And HuK vs Moon got like 72,000 not even the highest for DH Summer 2011. This was Idra vs MC which was 87,000 people tuned in to watch that i belive? I think LoL would be more than 60% of those 3million viewers.

Anyway lol @ the sly digs at MLG ^_^ would love them to support eachother more though not take sly digs at eachothers events and way they are produced

What should also be kept in mind is that a big part of DH was broadcasted in Western "primetime" meaning 18-23 in EU, which is -6 to -8 hours in US, in the middle of the day, on a weekend. I could imagine how many more views MLG would get if MLG broadcasted the finals in a more EU friendly time.

And yes i know monday was bad for US. But not that many matches was played monday, and I don't think that many people wait until the RO8 to watch, in an event like DH on a weekend. Actually if i remember correctly, there were more viewers saturday night than at the finals.

Impressive number nontheless. Really looking forward to Anaheim number too, now with the Columbus hype.

Awesome news! I knew Dreamhack was gonna do well, but not this well. And yes, let's hope they get an even bigger arena for the finals (and possibly other matches) next time.

They, sly digs? I think you are making stuff up, this is not a blog from Dreamhack, and if you read the chart you can see that MLG was bigger in social media than GSL super tournament.

MLG is mentioned as the only tournament outside Korea that gets anythin close to Dreamhacks figures, wow what a sly dig.

I think competition between the major tournaments is better for the viewers (and esports) than if they simply would pat each other on the backs and be happy with what they do.

"Today there is no eSport event outside South Korea that are in the same league as DreamHack. The only one close is Major League Gaming in US, but they still have a few games and the live streaming numbers are not on par with DreamHack yet – the Swedish Pride is still dominating.

DreamHack is something so unique as a Swedish pride. It’s something unique that the whole world looks at – it’s might even a national symbol that Sweden should be proud about."

So much Swedish pride ...

Ermm in my English this is a " sly dig " @ MLG when they say;

Today there is no eSport event outside South Korea that are in the same league as DreamHack. The only one close is Major League Gaming in US, but they still have a few games and the live streaming numbers are not on par with DreamHack yet – the Swedish Pride is still dominating.

Saying they are the biggest eSport event outside South Korea? More viewers than MLG? And that Sweden is still dominationg ^_^ ermmm read between the lines?

Im all for them with friendly comeptition BUT i would not ever like them to get angry with eachother and they start having events on similar times and they start dividing the players up between MLG and DH. The reason they had so many viewers this time because it was literally a GLOBAL range of SC2 Superstars that turned up for that side of the tournament (Not sure about LoL).
