MLG is backed by VC money. they need to try to come up with ways of monetizing ways their product and show their investors what works and what doesn't and how sustainable certain models are. Because that's not the reason given for the PPV. He said MLG wouldn't make it PPV if they had a choice, but are forced to by someone. He said it's not kespa forcing them, but someone else. Well who else is there besides kespa to force them to go ppv? Korean illuminati? I applaud scoots for trying to get the real answer. What do you want Lee to say though? Its under NDA. He CANT say anything. If I'm thinking here, GOM still actually holds the exclusive broadcasting rights to sc2 in Korea until 2013. Lee said this event would be would be free in 2013. Could be a coincidence. Could be related.
But he also said that this PPV wouldn't be shown in Korea.
So I'm thinking the Secret Starcraft Illuminati Theory is as good as any of the others.

Yes he did go on the record but his comment has been taken out of context, quote given was only as his opinion on one of the factors mentioned when talking to some players on our team. Others include conflicting schedules, prioritizing other events, not enough prize pool etc.
I cannot comment on other players however the conversation with Leenock went along these line. "do you want to play in MvP?" "no too busy with gsl/gstl no time, but kespa 24 esf 8 wtf? sad"
So it was noted by the players but it certainly wasn't all of ESF banding together to not play in the league
TIL, slasher creates unnecessary drama

Obviously I don't have any inside info, but I am just trying to read between the lines. Kespa had to make a deal with GOM to broadcast OSL. Maybe because of that deal, this MvP has to be PPV.

edit: Oh shit, just realised I'm 24. I'm so old and such a failure. I'd have a mid life crisis and buy a Ferrari but I can't even afford a Punto

Don't worry, we have Slashers boss owning him for entertainment I guess.
"When can I have some money to hire 10 more guys?" "When you file your stories on time."

Slasher had some really good points during the show so I decided to do a pros and cons about MvP Pros: -Really good players -A lot of games -Vods
Cons: -Bad time. Only good for Americans but since it's replays... -200-550ping games Scarlett's connection with Seoul -We won't be able to see that sick BW Micro in this tournament due to lag. -REPLAYS. -$10000 winner takes all. good players will drop out (Stephano) because it's not worth it -PPV that the korean pros were not aware of
Now we compare this to Dreamhack Valencia who gave out $23000~ in 2 days and they're doing the same with Dreamhack Bucharest. LAN Events can't compare to Online ones but PPV? I'd much rather enjoy my free 720p 60fps stream

That's really all there is to to it, and that's enough to sell a couple thousand buys.

No lie, as much shit as Scoot gets . He went ballistic on Lee, and I was very impressed to see / hear that.

The games vs the BW LEGENDS won't be good!
The lag will screw them over soo much the games will turn out to be shit.

I enjoy what Scoot has to say, but the when you get the answer of “I am under NDA and I can’t talk about that or I will get fired,” should have been enough. You really can get any more transparent than that. The fact that Lee said it is changing in 2013 makes me think they are stuck deal with an outdated contract between Kespa and a third party and there is nothing they can do about it. It annoying, but the fact it is changing in 2013 means that even the third party does not want to charge and they all are just riding out the contract.

Every victory a foreigner has over BW legends is tainted by the cross-server play stigma. Cross-server online tournament is just not legit enough for me and many others to pay for and I think that was also Slashers point.
