Hello TL.Net I am Mr.Chae from GOMTV
We would like to present you the detailed information and schedule of the GSTL which will start on June 23rd. First, we want to thank team FXO for making a decision to come to Korea to partake in the GSTL and we are looking to provide opportunities to any foreign teams that are looking to participate in the future GSTL. In addition, thanks to the League Exchange Program with MLG, 3 pro-gamers who received Code A seeds will join forces with WeMadeFOX and participate in the GSTL as a new team. Thus a total of 12 teams are going to be divided into two groups to compete against each other. GSTL will be broadcasted twice a week, on Thursday and Friday. Groups that play on Thursdays will be in the Jupiter league and groups that play on Fridays will be in the Venus league. In Korea, Thursday is called the day of Jupiter and Friday is called the day of Venus hence our reason for giving the leagues such names.
Our expectations are high for the new GSTL which will now be a regular league. We hope you show a lot of support for the new GSTL and we want to express our appreciation for the team FXO and the players once again for making such a big decision to participate in the upcoming GSTL.
You can find the detailed information and schedule below:

More foreigners and 12 teams? Wow, I'm excited. We won't have to worry about no IM or anything this time, should be great!
|
|
Awesome, thanks Mr. Chae! This looks to be great, can't wait to see more ^^
1 more besides Nani and Thorzain, rock!

Super excited. Its so many games!
Edit: Holy shit I missed Naniwa and Thorzain even more excited now!
|
Thank you Mr. Chae. The GSL is getting better every season. You're doing a great job!
|
THORZAIN
AND
NANIWA?
Who's the third? Its not on the website.
|
rooting for fxo although i don't think they will get that far xD
|
I wonder if them putting the "foreigner" teams against each other in the first round was intentional, since it means that we're guaranteed to get more chances to see them play.
|
wow, thats cool. good idea since i guess wemade doesn't have enough sc players with only moon/lyn. can't wait to see how they plus fxo do.
|
So F.United is Moon, Lyn, Naniwa, Thorzain, and who else?
|

They aren't against each other. They are in different divisions.

Who's the third? Its not on the website. I think Fenix is the next in line to be invited, but he may not accept. I suspect the third invite for Code A will end up going to Sheth, who obviously can't participate in the United team.
|
Is Sase playing for F.United?
|
The GSTL just got better and better.
|
Wooooooooooow. So we have Moon, Nani, Thorzain, Lyn, and at least 1 more on a team.
Okay, that thread where people posted their biggest SC2 nerdchills? Yeah, I need to change my answer. I'm SO fucking HYPED right now.

Oh, I read it completely wrong, I'm an idiot.

It is great to see Incredible Miracle in the GSTL again.
And there is the possibility of having a SlayerS vs IM finals :D

we'll see since the GSTL is now about 3 months long.
|
sounds awesome. will it hq/vods cost extra or will it be included as part of the GSL July package?
|
I am SO pumped! I find GSTL more fun to watch than individual leagues (same with Pro League in SC1). This format sounds sweet!
|
WeMadeFox also has Soccer, a Protoss player and another former War3 player on their team.
|
wemadfox? the house is sick good
|
Right, Sase is joining them, so that means hes the 3rd.
|
Ahhhhh. This is so sick, I was excited about the teamleague before but now I'm so hyped for it :D
Really Excited to see who the third invitee is.
Plenty of foreigners in the team league now. Going to be so cool seeing the season pan ouT, wonder if there is going to be any teams laying down domination!
|
so excited for it to start
|
|
what da!! NANIWA THORZaiN in CODE A?!!
Team F.United = WeMadeFOX + dignitas.NaNiwa + mouz.ThorZaIN
sick good!
|
"3 pro-gamers who received Code A seeds will join forces with WeMadeFOX and participate in the GSTL as a new team."
Is that implying that one of the 4 invites (counting the one from the Rakaka thing) was from FXO?
|
Sheth all kill incoming..
|
This is SOOOOO exciting. I can't wait for GSTL. I hope this season makes me forget about Proleague altogether. Actually no. I never want to forget Proleague, but I hope this impacts me just as much.
|
|
Also one question that I feel is relevant is the prize money increasing and by how much? :D
|
This is going to be awesome team league was already sick. This is going to be huge especially if they can win a couple games. Love the new schedule as well the one and done was worse imo.
|
i'm excited, but i wish each team plays every other team during the regular season, like in Proleague.
|
Really nice! The team league format is great, I think I finally have to buy a GSL pass
|
rly awesome
cant wait for this tournament to start
|
Huge fan of the new format.
Hopefully it continues to deliver some of the best storylines / games the sc2 has offered so far
|
at least 10 weeks of pure epicness ^^
|
YES YES YES HAVENT BEEN THIS HAPPY SINCE
since...
man my life has been shitty. BUT NOW ITS ALL RAINBOWS CAUSE THORZAIN AND NANI ARE IN GSL YAYAYAYAY
+Huk and jinro and slayers ofc :D
edit: mr chae i love you
|
F. United is a really good initiative!!
Just wondering if Naniwa and Thorzain will elect to stay if they get eliminated from Code A, and the ramifications for F. United if they leave. I guess it'll likely just be a rolling team with the FOX players and whoever the new batch of foreign invites + those staying will be.
Hope GOM or WeMadeFOX have contingencies in place to deal with such an event though, but otherwise really nice that we see a even number of teams so that the league won't seem odd.
EDIT: This includes recruiting more "Warcraft 3" players to their lineup.
2nd EDIT: Wonder if SaSe will also be recruited to join F United.
If Sheth ends up being the 3rd MLG seed, does this mean that F United only has 5 players?
Any information on the actual match format? I assume since it's not stated, it'll be the Winners League style (winner stays, all-kill format?)
|
Just curious who is the third foreigner with the code A seed?
|
Fantastic decisions! Can't wait!
|
|
I wonder if Nani/Thorzain are going to live with Moon/Lyn in the WMF house?
Here is a video tour of it: + Show Spoiler +
|
one of the greatest news i ever read :') moon ,naniwa, thorzain and lyn <3 can't wait
|
Mr. Chae being a total boss. thank you! I cant wait!
|
I just realized depending on who the last member is...so far this is an all former warcraft 3 team! :D

Really good news! Now I'm looking forward to the GSTL more than Dreamhack, MLG, or GSL. I'm very glad that the TSL finalists decided to take the invites, instead of it going to someone who can't compete with Koreans.
I also like the way they changed the GSTL points system. So there's no IM missing this time =)
I don't know if it was intentional, but the way they split up the foreigner teams was really nice. The half foreigner, half FOX team is in the same division as OGS/TL, so together they almost make a foreigner team to balance out FXO in the other division.
|
|
This is pretty badass. Naniwa and Thorzain!! So excited for the new GSTL, I didn't buy passes for them before because they were so short. Awesome to see how GSTL is shaping up these days though, I'll never miss it again!
Thanks Mr. Chae and great job, GomTV!
|
Group A is pretty stacked.

On paper yes, but with Top, Supernova, Nada, and MC on ogs ot's unlikely we'll ever get to see Jinro or Huk play in the gstl.

Yep. If we see Jinro or Huk, it'll be because they were told to train as snipers for a specific match up, they are far too inconsistent for general play.
|
ZOmg will be so epic cant wait to see this
|
HAHA!!
Great !
Mr.Chae <3

|
Come on FXO and F.United!
|
I am SO excited for team league. It has consistently produced some of the most amazing matches with alot of personality behind them.
|
I saw the schedule on the gomtv website and thought of MVP as the player, not the team, lol
They should have the "V" lowercase or something to help distinguish the two.
|
Awesome news! Three months of consecutive GSTL make me a happy happy man
|
Extremely excited about this. Hope they show us some great games!
|
Man this is awesome! I wish it was a more round robin style with all teams playing all others, but I suppose this gives the weaker teams a fighting chance at advancing.
My picks for the playoffs:
Jupiter group: SlayerS, oGs, F.United (F*CK YEAAAA)
Venus group: IM, Startale, fOu
|
United States23455 Posts
Jupiter Division is stacked. Venus is going to be absolutely dominated by IM and Startale.
|
oGs can draw off Jinro and HuK, so that's cool.
Interesting system: wemade has to play the foreigners, so that will be interesting.
|
been waiting for a high profile team league like this for so long yess
|
Naniwa and Thorzain are probably better than Huk and Jinro so they will be good foreign representatives.
|

Anything would be better than Torch benchwarming Startale.

Why is FXO only playing for week 1 - week 5, and F.United playing only for week 6 - week 10? Is there any schedule conflict?
|
Awesome news! I don't know about many other players other than moon from wemade.fox. But with naniwa and thorzain on their team, i think there will be some freakin awesome games.
|
The GSTL is going to be considered its own league with its own pricing right? I originally had the idea that the it would be part of the main league (jn terms of pricing and such), however that now seems to be untrue.
|
Also I just noticed that F.United's acronym is F U.
Maybe that wasn't the best name for them =/

F. United?
Isn't that how most Premier League fans feel all of the time?

F.U in Jupiter fOu in Venus
If these two teams ever meet up somewhere in the playoffs, it'll be a battle between two ballin ragefaces.
|
Group A seems to be harder but we'll see.
|
F.United is such an awesome name.
|
United States23455 Posts
F.United is probably for Fox/Foreigner United.
|
This is fantastic and I totally support it.
What does the "F" in "F United" stand for? Foreigners? Fox? Just kind of an F, united?
|
F.United is my new favourite team by name default. Fucking.Fox.Foreigners.United.

Btw guys, isn't it like awesome that we get to kick off the GSTL with a rematch from the last GSTL finals (MVP vs SlayerS).

This does make a case for MMA to get a Code S seed though, since GSL August will be able to accommodate the MLG winner (then shift the Anaheim winner to the next GSL - October)
Hoping MLG/GSL clarify this.

Wow, foreigners into code A! And the expanded GSTL format! It keeps getting better and better

F.United, I have to say I laughed at this name for a moment.
Anyway, really nice improvement. Hope GSTL can attract more and more viewers and help the team to compete with each other.

I was also wondering the same thing. I tried searching for some info, but couldn't find much. Does anyone know whether Code A/S will be priced separately from the GSTL?
|
I hope that FXO does well, GSL fighting!
|
So happy that my favourite broodwar team We.MadeFox will finally be in SC2.
|
But I fear that there maybe problem in prize and financial distribution in F.United cause there are 3 teams in it.
|
Best of luck to FXO! This will be great to watch, will SlayerS pull it off again!

But.. who's gonna play for WeMadeFOX other than Moon, Lyn, Soccer, Naniwa and Thorzain? They won't even have enough players if they get to the finals.

Side track a bit, anyone knows whether Moon and Lyn have switched to full time SC2 or they still part-timers.

I'm so excited for this, especially love the announcement that Naniwa and Thorzain (and one other?) will join up with WeMadeFox and compete. Will be so great to see them get to play in team league as well.
Thank you so much Mr. Chae! Didn't realize this was coming up so soon, can't wait for it to start :-)
|
In light of my sudden realization of some details of the new announcements (Naniwa and Thorzain only going to GSL in August) these questions need to be clarified. I'm guessing they're working on the details now considering:
1. Will GSL July proceed as normal with only 1 invitation being given to SaSe? 2. If the 3rd place seed goes to Sheth, will he be able to use it for the July Code A as his team will be there during that period or will he be forced to take it in August to keep things consistent? 3. Since the seeds are being pushed back a season, does MMA get a Code S seed since GSL August can accommodate the MLG winner?
If anyone can answer now, it'll be great. Otherwise, I'll wait patiently for the answer. Either way really great to hear.

Actually if you look at the schedules, it seems that SaSe probably won't join the team, unless he stays for 2 seasons. This is because he's going to be going in GSL July (although this hasn't really been confirmed in light of the recent arrangement.
Quoting from the MLG announcement: "Dignitas.Naniwa and MouzThorzain will be competing in GSL Code A August and will also participate in the August GSTL"
It looks like GSL are pushing back the MLG seeds 1 season to accommodate Naniwa and Thorzain's schedule.
Which leads to the third seed. The MLG announcement says that the player has accepted his seed but they haven't announced it yet. I'm just speculating, but could it be that this player is Sheth and the reason they're not announcing him yet is that they want to work out the details of his seed?
Does he get seeded into GSL July (since FXO play then)? Or does he get seeded into GSL August (since the other seeds are going that month)?
Definitely should wait on more details, but it's just interesting, as if they push back the seeds by 1 season, it should make a spot available for the winner of MLG Columbus to get the Code S seed in GSL August (and the winner of Anaheim takes the seed in GSL October). *shrug*
|
What format will they play? Winner league or fixed set?
|
Nice, but I already have some criticism:
- F.United doesnt play till week 6? That's one and a half months wait. - Group A is stacked while group B is super weak - Why can't all teams play each other like in Proleague? (rather see more GSTL than GSL).
|

But I guess they don't want it to run forever. Especially since they can only broadcast twice a week.
|
Wow Korea does that with the names too?
That's interesting, cus in spanish we learned that the spanish names for days were also based on the planets
Edit:
Oh the third player will probably be Slush, they might not be announcing yet maybe cus Slush is undecided? (slush got the furthest if you look at the brackets, slightly ahead of ret and haypro)

1) This schedule was clearly made so that Naniwa and Thorzain do not have to go to Korea for another month and a half (since they have other events coming up that would conflict with them being able to play in the GSTL at all if they had to be there a month and a half earlier. 2) This is unfortunate, but it was clearly not intentional as it was based off seeding, and at least it means we will get to see the members of F.United go up against the very best in Korea week in and week out. 3) There's simply too many teams for that to happen. This is the best way. Besides, the best 3 teams from each division have a chance to meet each other in the playoffs anyway.

Awesome, awesome. Raises a few questions though:
How much will the season ticket cost? Who's going to be casting? Who is the 3rd Code A invitation going to? Why is the schedule so odd looking? It makes for very odd, unbalanced schedule requirements for the teams...
can't wait!

Don't really get what exactly you're referring to, but even with 5 players on F. United, they should be able to play even the Bo9 finals (although there was an 8 player limit before, which probably was relaxed for them). You only need 5 players in the finals, which is the bare minimum. I would guess GSL are trying to get that number to increase though.

6 is not enought. 9 people needed in final

And even if they changed it to the Proleague style, usually you only need 8 players, with the 9th match being an Ace match allowing you to repick another player to play again.

Actually if you look at the schedules, it seems that SaSe probably won't join the team, unless he stays for 2 seasons. This is because he's going to be going in GSL July (although this hasn't really been confirmed in light of the recent arrangement. Quoting from the MLG announcement: "Dignitas.Naniwa and MouzThorzain will be competing in GSL Code A August and will also participate in the August GSTL" It looks like GSL are pushing back the MLG seeds 1 season to accommodate Naniwa and Thorzain's schedule. *shrug* Ignoring both of our speculation... don't you think GSL would confirm that they have enough players willing to participate before letting them in or making this annoucement? Don't really get what exactly you're referring to, but even with 5 players on F. United, they should be able to play even the Bo9 finals (although there was an 8 player limit before, which probably was relaxed for them). You only need 5 players in the finals, which is the bare minimum. I would guess GSL are trying to get that number to increase though. But they wouldn't without Sase or whoever is the 3rd player...
Soccer doesn't really play SC2 so they are only left with 4. There has to be atleast 1 more player joining them.

I hope Thorzain's GSL team does well in this coming GSTL.

I had to geek out on this.
Thursday is derived from Thor's Day. The Roman's equated the Thor with Jupiter (lightning Gods).
Friday is derived from Freyja's Day, who as the Goddess of Love, the Roman's equated with Venus.
Oh ya, I was going to comment on what a good move this was going to be for We Made Fox. I wonder if they were always planning on 'adopting' the foreigners from the exchange program.
I saw in some old interviews that they were hoping to build up the team to give Moon, Lyn, Soccer some practice partners instead of having them fend for themselves by making friends with all the other pro-houses.

this looks massively awesome

This is how GSTL was meant to look; very happy to see the team leagues twice a week.
Group A is looking really strong, especially because the bottom three teams according to rank (MVP, Prime, F.United) all should perform well in the team league format. TSL is actually one of the weaker teams in the group, so that says a lot. The most obvious prediction is to look for Slayers to stay hot.
Group B could be extremely competitive, but this hinges largely on NS and FXO staying with the pack and not falling to bottom. With NesTea and MVP, look for IM to stay on top of the leaderboard all season long. Hopefully the other teams' strategies evolve and coaches focus on preparing snipers to take games off of the two IM superstars.

Actually in CJKV language, people use sun, moon, fire, water, tree, metal, soil to indicate sunday, monday,tuesday,.... And yes, they do call Jupiter literally tree planet, Mars = fire planet,.v.v.v.. That's why Thursday actually means day of tree, Friday means day of metal, not Jupiter and Venus. But yeah, Gom really knows how to word play though.:D
There're so many games, so little time GSTL ftw!!!!

I really like the combination of Jupiter and Venus leagues, that seeds 1&3 from one and 2 from other are bracketed together for the finals. This should hopefully prevent a "semi-finals are the real finals" scenario.

Format is like winner's league for sure, right? I hope so.

For people wondering if 5 people is enough to be able to compete in the team league, in a winner's league format (one they've been using), you only need a maximum of 4 people to win a bo7 (normal match) or a maximum of 5 people to win a bo9 (finals match). First to 4 or 5 wins. Fox technically won't need any more players, but that leaves them very susceptible to snipes, given that they have no depth.

Question for Dr.Chae. Theres no new map this season ? that lower my interest a lil bit :p

I'm actually more happier to hear that WemadeFox is playing in GSTL rather than Thorzain, naniwa and co.
But i'm glad Thorzain gets his chance to play in there.

GOM seems to be doing so much to push Sc2
Changing the formats up so it doesnt get boring Huge pool prizes Huge amount of involvement with the foreign scene
I like the way e-sports is going. I do hope that GOM's actions pays off, cause I'd be surprised if they're making a lot of money at the moment...

They don't make separate accounts for the GSTL, players on a team all play on the same team account. They'll be playing on 'F.United' or something.

Putting FXO in the first part of the matches might be a bit bad, because they could have more time to prepare on the Korean ladder for the "Korean style" if they had all their matches in the second half.

Actually the Japanese and Korean days of the week are based off the five Chinese elements (water fire wood metal earth) plus the moon and the sun.. This naming system is obsolete in chinese nowadays but the planets are named for the elements. So it's a coincidence that it coincides with roman days of the week... Jupiter is wood-star, Venus is gold, mars invariably fire, Saturn earth lol, mercury water...

oGs-TL is already a thing. Liquid guys aren't mercing out when they're already an integrated part of a team. oGs for that matter doesn't consider them mercenaries, they're teammates.

I say!
I knew about the whole Thursday and Friday situation, but 2 foreigner teams? This is really great news. I am quite curious who the third foreigner joining FOX's bid is. There are a couple possibilities that occur to me as to the shroud of secrecy there. We'll just have to wait and see.
Nani and Thorzain are such beasts, and FXO as a team is no slouch either. I'll be wishing them all the best.

huh? I don't understand this. Since it is a league format, each team will play against every other team, round robin style. Before the final rounds, which will be similar to the teamleague. So, I can only assume you think when they lose they will be out? But that's not the case right, so it doesn't matter if they the team with the strongest players overall. Hmm, sorry just looked at the schedule and it clearly says there's multiple weeks so I'm wrong in assuming you weren't aware of that. I just don't understand then haha. Maybe there's an MLG or?
Also, wow so cool. WeMade <3 with MooN and Lyn. Nani, Thorzain, SaSe? <3 OMG !!!! FXO got a really fair group I feel. Zenex, fOu, HoSeo and Startale. I think they will do well :D
SO COOL!!! SO HYPE!!! Foreigners Fighting!!

oh man group A looks so tough lol besides F.United all the "weaker teams" (Zenex, NS_Hoseo, fOu, FXO) seem to be in group B :O

I wasn't sure about buying a new ticket for this season, but with these great news, I can't say no. Thanks alot!

That's interesting, cus in spanish we learned that the spanish names for days were also based on the planets
not only in spanish, in french and italian too. Jupiter Venus Jueves Viernes Jeudi Vendredi Giovedi Venerdì and the planets are based on the roman gods, who were based on greek gods too. roman jupiter = greek zeus roman venus = greek aphrodite It's actually also the same in English and German, only with a tiny difference. The Nordic and Germanic people weren't quite so happy with referring to the roman gods and so they were allowed to use their own. To use French - German as an example: Lundi - Luna - Mond (Moon) - Montag Mardi - Mars - Dienst - Dienstag (Wedsnesday is Mittwoch in German, which just means "middle of the week" :/) //Anyways French - English: Mercredi - Mercury - Woden/Odin - Wednesday //The German "Mittwoch" is apparently adopted from the Gothic calendar which does not refer to gods at all. It seems as though Polish and Russian calendars adopted this calendar also. Jeudi - Jupiter - Thor/Donner - Donnerstag Vendredi - Venus - Freya - Freitag
Actually friday is not from Freya, but from the god Frigg. It's a common missconception.
|
Aww you gotta feel for poor fox! They only have 3 players!. It is so cute that they are ale to compete now!
|
SlayerS got this obviously. IM got the easy group, which is good because the SlayerS - IM final is guaranteed, and beating IM is always very enjoyable.
Let's get this going!
PS. Noooo don't call it F. United. I want Nani and Thorzain to be on WMF, it sounds much cooler that way.
|

They were allowed, they just didn't have enough ranking points to be one of the top 10 teams. Surely next time that happens we'll just toss out one of the lesser teams and let them in, yay!
I really don't understand how people didn't get this. Yes, it was too bad but it was hardly GOM TVs fault.

Im looking forward to this

Wait so some days we have 2 team matches on a day? Also maps were forgotten for Jupiter side when it gets down.

No issues here in Canada, maybe the problem isn't GSL, you might wanna perform a little extensive troubleshooting there eh

What kind of troubleshooting can i do if my whole country lags? The same ISP with the fastest possible speed. Previously totally smooth even when times where complains of stream not functioning well in TL, we are all fine.
Now it's like watching youtube that are not trying to buffer at all.

TL have never participating as they haven't had enough players/never had a enough points to qualify as one of the teams. However, under the new rules there are "free agents" allowed with foreigners. They are able to be picked up by any team, and since TL has a relationship with oGs they have agreed to play only for them if required.

Yeah, actually I have problems with even the low quality stream lagging as well, even though I have 10Mb and everything else works fine. Anyone else in Australia have lag issues with GSL?
Maybe it's the connection to Korea that's bad still after the earthquake in Japan?
Hopefully it'll be better next season though.

Is there a reason why FXO plays all their matches on the first 5 weeks, and F.United plays all theirs on the last 5 weeks?
Cool thing to see though, I was wondering too the other day just what teams were in the league. Fun to know.

I thought the same thing when I looked at the schedule. Could be that they want the foreigners to be able to leave if they don't make the playoffs or something? I guess that only explains FXO's schedule though.
|
Wow really excited to see these games. Good work by gom. Can't wait!
|
Fun facts about the point rankings..
IM only participated in 2 out of 3 GSTL's, yet they are the second highest ranked team.
MVP only participated in 1 GSTL, yet they are ranked higher then Prime who participated in all 3.
Some teams are better then others it seems

Well Prime probs have the best players all around but i know they seem to fail way to much in the team league they have insane amount of good players
|
Funny this is that Thorzain and Naniwa will probably be amongst the best players in their team.

WooWoo! =D Awesome to read this!

Fantastic News!
Group A is stacked though. I would consider every team in group A to be stronger than the last 4 seeds in group B.
|
Thank you very much Mr.Chae, really looking forward to it!
|
Awesome, my only concern is group A seems way more stacked than group B. Especially considering MVP made it to the finals last gstl and Prime has finally started to improve. Fou is just awful (besides SC the rest are basically 1basers) now its too bad they still have a rank 5 above teams like MVP just because they've been around longer.

Wow this is awesome. This is the kind of league I've been hoping for, not to mention a lot more foreigners are going to be involved.
|
hmmm.... Having the two different leagues seem a little bit weird in my eyes - some teams just never get to play each other. I suppose this is due to the time constrain?
I hope fox can pick up some more people to fill their roaster - maybe even borrow someone from the bw team :p
|
The problem with ogs-TL is that ogs' roster is far too deep and strong to have to use the TL players. I highly doubt we'll ever see them as part of the gstl with ogs.

Having that much teams playing for 2 days a week, it would be too long to make them face each others, sadly.

Not only did they have their BW team, but they also had the best wc3 team for many years. (moon lyn and soccer)
I doubt anyone knows soccer, but he is on the FOX sc2 roster, so he has attempted to get into Code A a few times, but hasnt succeded. He was a night elf in Wc3, and had a decent amount of success, won a few tournaments, and was always considered one of the top players. (probably equivalent to say kal from BW? always near the top, but never at the top.) but my BW knowledge is a little sketchy)

If i am not mistaken they dropped their support for CS or WC3, so i don't know if their "conditions" are as good as they once were.

I am assuming oGs will pick their own players by default unless there are special circumstances like players are sick or there is an internal decision to bring in a liquid sniper perhaps.

If F.United was in the other division, I think they would have a good chance to get top six, but they really got unlucky in their draw.
Slayers? Two time champions.
oGs? MC, Nada, TOP, Supernova, and a bunch of depth.
Prime? MarineKing, the new-and-improved Polt, the resurgence of Maka, and the ever dangerous Anypro.
MVP? Genius, Violet, and Keen. Oh, and they got that guy DongRaeGu. Heard he's pretty good.
TSL? Not at their best, but still have a dangerous line-up with Clide, Tester, Killer and FruitDealer.
|
Whateven side wemade got in there was a big chance they would need to fight against some of the best teams like MvP, Slayers or IM. So now they just need to continue the tradition of new teams owning the GSTL and make us all happy Hopefully the 3rd foreigner will be a good addition as well

I just want to express my deepest gratitude to the combined efforts of GOM and the MLG for doing everything they can to merge Starcraft 2 into a global esports community. There's just about nothing more exciting than watching the best foreign players play against the best Korean players, but that wouldn't even be possible if you didn't go above and beyond to facilitate it. On behalf of all pro Starcraft fans, thank you!
The only thing about the post I'm really confused about is this:
Our expectations are high for the new GSTL which will now be a regular league. I'm not exactly sure what that "will now be a regular league" means. Anyone know?

I think he means one of two things,
1. The GSTL will occur regularly i.e. two or three seasons per year w/ 10+ teams
2. Instead of a king of the hill format, it will be a 1v1 format where each player is different for each game up until the ace match, see BW proleague format
Hopefully it is both :D

The format favors F.United a little in terms of getting information.
They play weeks 6-10 and they will have seen every team play, players builds for the map, and tendencies. All they have to do is play to their ability and beyond!

Why is this league so much more expensive than the super tournament? (Super tournament was $10 with ads $20 without while GSTL is $25 with ads $40 without. I realize it goes on until september but it's only 2 days a week. I don't think your getting 2.5 times the content.

Yeah I don't get this either. I will still be buying the ticket because the tournament is stackkked. But I'm certain that the price increase will be turning away a lot of the regular buyers. GOM needs to realize that foreigners are not all loaded with cash

New GSTL is 35 series (3 per week times 10 weeks, plus 5 in the playoffs)
Old GSTL is 7 series (2 per day times 3 days, plus 1 final)
Looks like you are actually getting 5 times the content.

You get more matches per dollar than previous GSTL stuff, stop complaining guys, come on.

Is the GSTL still the all-kill format or is it like those BW leagues?
|
On June 18 2011 04:24 0neder wrote: You get more matches per dollar than previous GSTL stuff, stop complaining guys, come on.
Actually it's the same number of matches per dollar for the team league with ads. (35matchs/25 bucks is 1.4 mpd 7 matches/5 bucks is 1.4 mpd). With my comment I was comparing the team league price to the individual league where you get a significantly better rate even if the matches are shorter series (62 head to head series/10 bucks is 6.2 mpd). Even taking the series length into effect it's a much better deal for the individual league. Not trying to be cheap but there's a pretty big discrepancy there. I like supporting gom i think they've got the highest level of play in the world but I also like supporting myself while paying off student loans. Please don't tell to stop complaining when you don't know my financial situation and double check your math before calling me out.

They should raise the price of the individual league so that there is not a discrepancy. Gom should only care about making the most profit that it can not making the most people watch esports even if they are poor with student loans. You still have MLG dreamhack and the EG masters cup anyways.

AWESOME!!!!
My goodness that's amazing.
Group A seems by far to be the toughest group but that's just fine because I truely believe ThorZain and Naniwa can handle it. It's awesome that those two are teammates for once haha.
I'd say that against those teams FXO has a real chance in here. It's gonna be hard to break into the top two, but Zenex, Hoseo, and foU have all been lackluster lately. They should at least win a series or two I think.

They should raise the price of the individual league so that there is not a discrepancy. Gom should only care about making the most profit that it can not making the most people watch esports even if they are poor with student loans. You still have MLG dreamhack and the EG masters cup anyways.
haha very true.
