Lets try and clear some things up. Me and CatZ tried very hard to make ROOT work, and to get our own sponsors and make it on our own. Unfortunately it has proved to be much, much harder than we ever thought, and even if we found 1 or 2 good sponsors, it would still not make us even close to enough money to compensate for all the hours it takes us to run ROOT. We did it for a very long time, not making any money at all and paying our own way to tournaments, because we loved the team and Starcraft 2, but unfortunately Starcraft 2 is not just a game for us, it is our livelihood, and we need to treat it as a business, and ROOT just didn't work as a business. Sponsors are looking for teams that have players that are willing to put themselves out there in the community and get exposure and do interviews and make videos and promote their product. We couldn't even get KiWiKaKi or Slush to post on the root-gaming.com website ffs, they only treated SC2 as a game, and that is 100% fine with me, they are amazing players and friends but they don't give a shit about the business side. The ROOT members that went to complexity are willing to work hard to make Starcraft work on a business level and complexity is a huge organization that has had many years of experience supporting the top players in the world and marketing them and helping them in every way. Just think about IdrA, before he joined EG he wasn't making any money, but EG showed IdrA how to treat the game as a business, and make training videos and cast and coach and stream and do tons of interviews and get himself out there. Complexity can give us this amazing support, so that we can play Starcraft full time, which in the end is best for the fans and viewers because it will produce better quality players and games. So I for one, am really happy to be joining complexity, as sad as I am that Slush and Kiwi will not be joining us, I do think that it is for the best, and I can promise that from now on I will step up my game, as I have more time to dedicate to practicing now, and I am a lot more motivated since I don't have to deal with running a team anymore. It would be nice if everyone stopped bashing on me / catz / minigun / ddoro / destiny, and treating slush / kiwi like superstars LOL I know slush did really amazing at the last MLG but I did beat him in the group stages and in a tournament finals not too long ago and at MLG dallas 2010 finals so I am not sure why everyone thinks he is levels above everyone else in ROOT. I know that KiWiKaKi has always been our all-star player, but any team he joins will be sadly disappointed because he is asking for a LOT of money, and he is not even willing to post on the forums. Anyways, I loved ROOT but it is time to move on, we are still the same people that you know and love, only now we have the support of a huge team to publicize / promote / send us to events which will only make us better players . so wat u r saying is that kiwi + slush r true gamers who love esports and u and catz are just trying to get rich playin games lol? naww dude u need sponsers and stuff like that to get you out to the big tournaments anyway otherwise the travel fee and hotels and all that would be really expensive not about getting rich itd b good to support yourself off a salary so you can focus this as your main job getting better and sutff so plz stop trolling root lol at telling destiny to stop trolling root

Does that mean its pretty much impossible to break on to the scene and compete with the already established teams? The only way to "make it" is to get known enough to get acquired and receive a contract from one of the teams in power. Seems pretty much impossible to do it from scratch. Great post. It's amazing that with Kaki's success they couldn't get any better name sponsors. Its so difficult.
These sorts of comments overestimate the value of being a really all-star player.
Sure, it's important to be a good player, and even better if you can make top 8 in any major tournament/carry your team in clan wars. However, none of that means anything for sponsorship if it's all you do. IdrA has proven to be more consistent, harder working, and most would say a stronger player than KiWiKaKi, and even he has to do a ton of PR stuff.
IdrA is constantly going on things like SotG, doing promotional videos like game analysis of his games from MLG, casts, performing interviews (which he's gotten a lot better at). KiWiKaKi does none of that, and doesn't appear to do a whole lot to gain a huge following.

But he is willing to go out in the public and do what his sponsors want so that he will get paid. Thats the main part why eg would get a better sponsor than root would if kiwi wasnt willing to put him self out there. So I agree with the rest lol.

KiWi, Slush and the (now) complexity gang were such troopers, risking a lot, and sacrificing a lot to keep our core team together. It's a shame that we couldn't have stayed together longer, but there comes a time when it's make it or break it time, and we had to make a decision. For our guys to continue pursuing this as a career and to advance ESPORTS (that one's for you Ken), it was necessary to join complexity. This wasn't a last ditch effort, more as something we've talked about for awhile.
For the fans who have been behind us the whole way, we thank you and will continue to strive towards giving you the best product possible. We hold no ill will towards Jo or Paul, and are still very fond of them - please support them in what endeavors they take on next, I know I will be. For those of you that have expressed displeasure with our decision or with complexity as a whole - give us a chance - I wouldn't bring my guys to an organization that wouldn't support my team (or esports) fully - Jason Lake and Jason Bass are great guys and have invested countless hours and money into advancing pro gaming in NA. Please feel free to contact me if any of you have any questions, gripes or concerns - GLHF! You know, I've never had any ill will toward complexity or disliked any of its members, but I never could follow the team because the damn uppercase "L" in the middle of the name annoyed me. Keep up the good work, and I'll try to work through my linguistical hangups.
omg I feel the same way. I can't get over the "coL" thing. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Call me crazy.

Is Drewbie in some kind of slump? He displayed massive BM during his last game in his showmatch vs Goody.

Sheth just announced that Kiwi and Slush were not joining FXO

I bet coL is glad they picked up that punk bitch Drewbie. GREAT manner right after being brought onto a new team., Good job man!

what a fricken joke. drewbie just performed the most outrageous BMing I have ever scene in pro sc2.. what a disgrace to a well defined team such as complexity.
I read all of drewbies posts on this thread and he seems to be a immature baby. grow up man. if you wanna take sc2 to a business level start acting like a professional.
It's unreal how people are saying Destiny is the one that will put complexity in some shame with his attitude. I totally disagree.

Its ok to me i will still cheer for drewbie. I didnt get to see what happened but either way Go Drewbie.

How could anyone be so critical of Drewbie after all he's been through?
He lost his team, KiWiKaKi, his dog!
He's a human! Don't you realize he's making all this money and all you do is talk crap about him?
You're lucky he even performed.
Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly bash someone who is going through a hard time?
Anyone that has a problem with him, you deal with me, because he's is not well right now.
Leave Drewbie alone!

Edit: My original post seems a bit too harsh now that Kiwi and Slush are settled. Good luck to coL.

Even that would have been a HUGE stretch for IdrA, I'm sure he would be insulted if you thought his BM would reach that level. Anyway I'm sure drewbie was pissed at this whole switch to coL and people giving them shit. Still doesn't warrant this kind of thing though.

I think its a bit dumb to demand your players to do a bunch of stuffs thats have something to do with media. Sure, interviews on events is nothing strange but the reason KiWiKaKi and Naniwa etc is two of the bests outside of Korea and why koreans are on a much higher skill level is because they play the game, they have the focus on the game to become better if not the best player they can be. You don't see them casting every week, streaming ladder all days or doing lessons.
I understand that people need to earn money, but you have to sacrifice things if you want to be the best and by being some sort of community hero because you put your ID or team out there by doing things mention above wont do it. Especially if you already is playing for one of the biggest gaming communitys in western esports and get free trips to events and most likely some sort of salary. It's the people like KiWiKaKi teams should take in if they want good results and not just mediocre MLG placements.

Yeah, what Drewbie did was pretty bad (worse than what Idra has ever done from what I can recall, although Idra also does it much more often)... that being said I'm willing to forgive once but it's definitely not a good way to start off his coL career...

IdrA's BM isn't directed at his own friends and teammates.
