Kaelaris SC2 Commentary
Hello there TL! My name is Kaelaris and you may or may not have seen me around doing a few things. I'm a UK caster living in Finland, playing in Master league as Protoss (but am now playing Random to expand my Terran and Zerg knowledge further). I watch literally every GSL, NASL, IPL, MLG etc, there is to offer, constantly analyzing what the players are doing and trying to understand tip-top level play more. I like to think that my casting style is mostly analytical with partial play-by-play. My dream is to one day Cast GSL Code A and have already sent an email in hopes of making that become a reality.
Recently i've been working closely with CSN to provide GSL write-ups minute-by-minute when SeltzerPlease was over there, and even more recently I cast the CSN CotH with DoA to send July to MLG! (Which, if you haven't seen, you should go back and watch the VODs because they were some amazing games (Taeja vs GuineaPig on Crevasse)).
Eventually I intend to stream, however my current up-rate is terrible. For now I intend to just add content to Youtube. Any criticism is cool, however please bare in mind I believe my best performance was during the CSN broadcasts, so please check those out!

Just FYI: Everyone is allowed one thread to self-promote their stuff. No one should feel worried about making a thread in SC2 or Blogs to hold all their interviews, commentaries, replays, etc. Things start getting annoying when people open a new thread for every new piece of content they produce, because they want more views. If you don't do that then you're golden.

We did have mr Tumba lined up to co-cast but he sadly could not

A really nice voice to listen to and a lot of game knowledge combined. That's exactly what you get while listening to Kaelaris. He is also interacting with the streamchat very nice.

Kaelaris could easily say "Veni, vidi, casted". Professional, great insight into the game, made sure the stream goes as smoothly as possible even under some bad circumstances. I wouldn't hesitate a second about calling him the "European Day9" and I'm more than willing to recommend him to all those who want to get great and coherent coverage of their events.

xD It's actually not nerves. The problem is that ive been a drummer for like 12 years, so whenever it comes to something that looks like a stick, I always fiddle around with them :D
I feel v confident actually as ive been working very hard for this

I was super super super impressed with your casting at IEM. You do that really rare thing where you sound passionate and make it enjoyable, while giving good accurate insight. That is a rarity and you've instantly become one of my top few casters, I'm just disappointed it took me this long to discover you. Kaelaris is the man. He was great at Assembly, doing great at IEM, hopefully the stuff he's working with gets him a big time position, the guy really deserves it. Always puts 110% into his work.

I personally love your casting Kaelaris. I don't watch too many sports normally, but you remind me a lot of the really good cycling commmentators that did the Olympics/Tour de France every year. You and Apollo together, much like you and Tod are dream pairings <3

Even though the chemistry between ToD and him is better, I also enjoy him and Apollo quite a bit.

Im surprised how many like him. I don't enjoy his casting and I'd love to mute him. His laughing is annoying me the most and it feels like he is just stating the obvious (and often he is wrong)

Well then im a douche because it annoys me as well. He accents everything as if its the most important thing ever but only like "ooooooooh i dooont knowwww is heeee going to get a sixteeeeeen pool or a fifteeeeen pool." and 20 seconds later he does it again. and again. and again. He has cut it out a little but i think its going to take a while before he can control it.
Saying its his accent is not true as he'd talk normally like that as well.

Can he stop saying "Slowly but surely" for one thousand times in a match? It's ok if he says it 1 time in a match, 2 times still not that bad. But when you say it 3 times within a single minute, that's already too much.

Used to find you a bit overenthusiastic sometimes (but even then it was fine), but now either I got used to it or you're getting better :p Your duo with ToD was pretty awesome in particular!

Kaelaris is one of several European casters that are absolutely worth tuning in for. He always seems to be enjoying himself, and it's infectious - the benefit that has on the watchability of an event cannot be overstated. Cheers!

I didn't say it's an act, I mentioned 2GD because during one GDshow he did a good imitation of this mannerism. Most casters speak faster and louder the more action is going on in the game (which I really don't like) and when you put it on top of excessive use of stress it becomes really unpleasant to listen to. I can see that's not a frequent opinion but I couldn't expect it to get any better if I didn't try to do anything about it.

Well done Kaelaris! when you first popped up, at IEM i think, i was skeptical and thought you were OK. however recently you look much more comfortable and your casting is excellent! well done really enjoy it man.

You get a warning for just quoting without adding something, similar to quoting and writing +1 etc.
You could have just quoted and said: "this guy nailed it" or "I agree totally"....
Pretty standard on this forum, if you are mad about it, take it to website feedback.

I' actually dedicating my very first post on this website to Kaelaris.
I just started with SC2 two weeks ago. Before I bought the game, I was heavily watching casted games on Youtube.
I soaked them all in, Jaedong, Bomber, sOs, curious, tlo, naniwa, scarlett etc, etc.
Nearly watched a hundred games before bed until I decided to get the game.
During this time I also got familiar with the casters, if it's Artosis or Apollo, ToD [...] and Kaelaris.
I seriously asked myself many, many times...."why would anyone let Kaelaris cast a SC2 match?"
Your knowledge of the game is really poor. You don't know about strategy, you don't know about transitions, you don't know about any ongoing trends, you don't know common builds, you don't know when the game starts to fall over, you can't bring any experience into the process, you're just the wrong man in the wrong place.
If, thank god, you have a fellow caster aside who is showing a little bit of gamespecific knowledge, you just start saying:
"yea"
"yea"
"yea"
"hm"
"aha"
"the creep spread is really great"
"yea"
"yea"
"I love mech"
"yea"
...during the slightest engagement you switch up to the hysteric housewife mode, making it really hard not to be annoyed with.
It is not compulsory wrong to lack the ingame experience and knowledge of ToD or Apollo, but for god's sake let another one join your spot, because your casting is terrible.
Just terrible.
Here is an example, just to underline my point:
TLO vs. Happy (casted by Apollo & Kaelaris)
You would have been completely lost without Apollo. You just talk about how you love mech, how you love blue flame Helions....while Apollo (a caster I really, really appreciate) doesn't even respond to your brabble and actually gives us some relevant facts.
The IEM Cologne games you cast solo are ruined for me.
You don't give any valuable information, you don't say when the upgrades kick in, worker count, game builds, counter builds....you don't even keep us informed about the building the players made.
If you can't anticipate what's going on, just provide us some information of what's going on and keep yourself in the background.
Can't you just try to be a little bit more humble and really try to learn HARD GAME FACTS instead of exaggerated screaming & twitching. The game is actually just about the 2 players so reduce your flamboyant personality for just 60 minutes.
I seriously had the urge to say this, you shouldn't be on the casting chair....it's no mistake to be clueless in sc2, but don't be a caster...let a better suited person join your spot. Literally any ladder player.
