I'm going to say that Sweden, China and Ukraine in the first tier where there might be differences in skill, but can all potentially take out each other in a BO9.

The second tier is Canada, US, Poland, Taiwan, and France. Again, probably able to take each other out in a BO9. These countries can probably also take out the first tier on a good day.

China and Taiwan are currently very separated from the "foreign" scene, so this may not be totally accurate. My guess is mostly on anecdotal evidence from myself, others, the few international competitions involving China/Taiwan, but mostly on the Korean ladder ranking of known Chinese players/players with simplified or traditional Chinese names.

I'm truly shocked that people are ranking the US so highly.

France, Ukraine, Germany, Poland all outclass the US in my eyes pretty convincingly.

How can france with only Stephano / ToD outclass the likes of IdrA, Sheth, Tyler, qxc, and so on?

what about Huk and select? You can count Huk as both, US and Canadian and Select as US and Korean

MoMan and Adelscott too. And tbfh you'd not even bring QXC to a top american team list, if you wanted best terran.

Tons of other french players?

(Wiki)Adelscott

(Wiki)MoMaN

(Wiki)SarenS

Edit: That was to justify the french. That being said both nations have quite a bit of 'good' players - but in the aspect of great players I think both countries can only manage 2-4 players, while e.g. Sweden can line quite a bit more.

1) China (Xiaot, Xigua, Lovecd, Lovett, F91... this list is far too good to be compared with any other country)
2) Sweden (Thorzain, Naniwa, Morrow, Sase, Sjow, Naugrim, Lalush, Merz, Bischu)
3) Ukraine (Kas, Dimaga, Whitera, Strelok, HappyZerg, Bly)

Definitely in this order. Chinese players, while few are far too skilled to be beaten by any european/american lineup. Sweden players definitely come second with powerhouses like morrow/sase/thorzain/naniwa. After that my pick would go to the eastern europeaners like kas, dimaga, whitera, strelok.

france is possibly #4 with adelscott/stephano/tod/moman/sarens/carn.

Well Kiwi has the most money, if that counts

but it's all from poker... somewhere around $200,000 someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would say for my top 5 in no particular order:
Ukraine
Sweden
Canada
China
Germany
All work or all play? Nive to five? Or, five to nine?

I too would rate France over the US for sure. Idra, qxc and Sheth are probably the only ones worth mentioning. tyler/incontrol have totally failed in 2012. I would put stephano/tod/adelscott/sarens/carn/moman over idra/sheth/qxc/tyler/incontrol/destiny. Others may differ, but thats definitely my opinion.

Sweden has a lot of talent in Sc2 so far. Ukraine also has a beasty lineup. I think Germany takes third place but Sweden has a lot of talent. Even though I'm from Sweden and it may sound biased but we have a lot of good players here in Sweden...

Thorzain, Naniwa, Sjow, Sase, Merz, MorroW, Jinro, Haypro, Bischu, Cytoplasm, Naugrim

and some lesser Swedish players (still good though)

Lalush, Seiplo, Runa, Forsen
