I know there are a bunch of kids at my school that may like SC2, but either they don't want to become public about it (because they are afraid of being classified as a nerd), or they aren't serious enough to watch tourneys like the GSL or TSL. I used to have a friend like that at school (only one), but he stopped playing SC2 and switched over to LOL. This I think this is something that is sooo common, it is somewhat taboo, not really taboo but it's slightly looked down upon even though there is nothing strange with doing what you love. (As Day9 put it) I have like 2 friends that watch tournaments and play a lot, though they don't watch the same amount as I do, buut I can still talk with them a lot about tournaments builds etc. Oh and a funny story, I actually met one of by best friends through SC, we had been playing together for quite a while and then asked each other were we lived etc. It turned out we went to the same school, same year but different classes, I was in F he was in E. So the day after we met up and became best friends!! So awesome! I would love to have a "party" for watching stuff like the GSL finals, I would even love to host it but I can't T.T Still living home + not enough space. Oh and I am up for playing, chilling, discussing the game and what not. I'll send you a PM

Do I need to download a player? I've never watched a live match, but for the free VODs I always just go to Gomtv.net and press play after logging in, I don't have an application player running besides the browser, but I also always see people talking about problems with GomTV player ;/ //tx

This got me thinking, I really dont have ANYONE I know that plays SC2 on a regular basis, and noone who shares my passion for it. I mean I watch every GSL and other tournies I can get my hands on. I watched all of IEM and TSL's etc etc, I refresh TL.net all the time to look for good streams etc. But I have noone I know who is the same, this made me kinda "sad". I would love to do what Day9 said and have 4-5 friends and have a mini KOTH going some night, having the ones not playing atm spectating and having fun on Skype etc. Is there any way to sort this out? I mean I cant force my friends to play but is there some place or site where I can find people? And I dont mean practice partners etc only, I am only Bronze so I dunno if that is even neccissary but I mean people to play and watch streams with and discuss other than just this forum, or the live stream chats ![]() Any ideas? And to get something else to talk about, how often do you play with your friends like KOTH or similiar? Discuss! Yeah, I know how you feel, I have 0 real life friends that play Starcraft, their excuse is that it's 'too hard'. When I expain to them there are leagues where you play against people your own level and don't get roflstomped constantly, but they still don't wanna play. I think it's mainly because of the Starcraft stigma, where they hear about Korean progamers who play 10-12 hours a day, etc. So all I do is ladder, it can get quite boring, but whatever.

I would like friends in the SC2 scene. As all my all gamming buddies focus on fps's. What time of day do u have spare time? Due to work and looking after my son, my times limited. But like I said before I would love someone to share replays with, train and talk SC2. If anyone else out there in southeast asia whats a friend please let me know ![]()

I have some ppl i got friend with while helping them, i helped some ppl when they were like bronz/silver and now they are diamond and i keep in touch with them, tho we aren't really at the same "skill level" and we aren't living in the same country so doing KOTH, lans or watching tournaments together is kinda hard ![]() I plan on maybe moving to a team this summer if i have the luck/time of getting in or close to top 200 EU, since i hardly believe that even bad teams are interested in top 1k players ![]()

There are constant action like KOTH, custom games and just good old sit in the channel and chat. Made my SC2 experience a lot different and more interactive with folks with the same passion for the game.

After viewing the first few pages of this post, I think maybe someone (better some Liquid staff) could open up a post for ppl to find some real-life SC2 fellows in their own cities/at their own universities?

Unfortunately he hasn't improved since purchase and won't take any advice (it's like he doesn't want to improve) so I haven't had anyone talk strat or practice 1v1 with. Kind of the same thing here. Got a friend a beta key last year, he litterally started from zero (he was plain awful) and is now a diamond-level zerg/protoss player. He did spend a lot of time playing though: his life basically consists of his girlfriend, his PC and his guitar. He's my only friend who plays starcraft though. The rest of them isn't even interested in gaming in general. There's still a huge social stigma on gaming where I live (Belgium). It's said to be anti-social ("dude, you're sitting in your room all the time") while getting drunk and partying for no real reason is considered perfectly acceptable.
