Pimpest Plays 2010 TL People's Choice Edition.

After months of work and sorting through replays, the Team Liquid People's Choice Edition of the Pimpest Plays 2010 is finally complete. Below, you will see the top 5 Pimpest Plays as voted by your fellow TL users. I have rewritten the "Description" part of each play, because the info there is not up to pimpest play standards. Please keep in mind that the official Pimpest Plays for 2010 (And all other years) is on SCLegacy.com, please go check out that site and support the Pimpest Plays 2010 team (Which I am a member of)!

So here we go, starting with...

Number 5:

"Stalife Drop"
+ Show Spoiler +
LiquidTLO vs LozirA
Set 2
Blistering Sands
GSL 1
http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens1/vod/1042
~12:25

Description:
Stalife is a member of TL who posted a new idea, use medivacs to drop maruaders onto a zerg's baneling horde. The 1 maruader dies of course, but he takes many more banelings with him, becoming insanely cost effective. This play has been used many ties since it's suggestion by many pro players, including SlayerSBoxeR. In this specific match, The "Stalife Drop" is used to great effect, and truly devastates the Zergs ground force.

Number 4:

"The Great Escape"
+ Show Spoiler +
WhiteRa (P) vs TheLittleOne (Z)
TL Invitational
Game 2
Scrapstation

HDStarcraft and Husky reporting it. Video embedded in spoiler -- I think.
+ Show Spoiler +

Description:
This match is insane, TLO is obviously contained by a super strong Protoss army, that easily dwarfs TLO's Zerg army. Not only this, but TLO is contained in his main, and forced to throw up multiple defensive spines to prolong the inevitable. Waiting until just the right time, TLO uses a nydus canal to transfer his entire army, queens, and drones to the protoss main. He then proceeds to destroy everything from within, and throws up a hatch where the nexus once stood. WhiteRa, now with no economy, and totally out of position, has to admit to GG.

Number 3:

"Patience Patience and more patience..."
+ Show Spoiler +
MouzNaama(T) vs MouzMana(P)
DreamHack SteelSeries
Game 3
Xel'Naga Caverns

http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/4444658/

Description:
Much like the last game, except with Protoss contained by Terran, Mana is trapped in his base with what seems like an unbreakable contain (Atleast without being game endingly cost ineffective). Waiting for what seems like too long, Mana reaches the exact tipping point and moves out, destroying Naama's contain, and getting himself back in the game.

Number 2:

"The Great Wall of Hongun"
+ Show Spoiler +
HongUnPrime.WE (P) vs TSL_FruitDealer (Z)
Set 4
Lost Temple
GSL3

Description:
This game truly shows an amazing case of thinking on one's feet. FruitDealer is being super aggresive against Hongun's cannon expand, and the only way to hold back the flood of zerg coming in is a single voidray, and of course... Buidings! A play that cannot be missed.

Number 1:

"FoxeR's Marine Splitting"
+ Show Spoiler +
MarineKingPrime.WE (T) vs KyrixZenith (Z)
Set 1
Shakuras Plateau
GSL2

Description:
The player who did this play was known at the time as "FoxeR", although his screen name was actually "BoxeR" to pay homage to an idol. After this though, he was deemed "MarineKing" by the people. Using a super high APM tactic, splitting marines, FoxeR was able to do a massive tempo push against a ling/bling zerg player on the farthest positions possible. A feat the was impossible until this play popped up. Truly deserving of Pimpest Play TL People's Choice #1! Great Job MarineKing!

I've been a long time starcraft addict, and ever since the pimpest plays started coming out i've (T)Always loved to watch them. I haven't seen anyone doing pimpest plays for 2010 (Even in SC1) so if no (P)One objects, i would like to take up the (T)TorcH, for atleast SC2. If I am missing the thread, or someone has already started this elsewhere, please let me know - thanks!

Alright, if you have seen a pro-level replay that has a play that is truly "Pimpest" quality, or even an entire that is (Z)just amazing, please post below in the following format, and i will add it to the list of contenders.

-------
Title of the play
PlayerX vs PlayerY
Set #
Map
Tournament

Breif description of events (Try for broad statements that wont dominate any surprises for (Z)First time viewers, but still convey the "Pimpest" moment)

(T)Link to the video (If it is an entire match video, include an estimated time of (T)Start to finish for singular "Pimp" plays)
-------

At the (T)End of the year, i will add every entrant (R)Into a poll and let that run for a month, at the (T)End i will update this post with the top ten list of Pimpest Plays 2010.

I'll add the (Z)First two, which I can (T)Remember off the top of my head being truly amazing.

GSL Season 1, Ro32

(R)TLO nukes (T)Hyperdub's tank (Z)Line guarding the left expo, then cancels as soon as tanks unsiege, runs up and kills them.

Same , while he's pushing (T)Hyperdub's expo on the right (Z)Side, he nukes the (T)aTtacK path (maybe canceled this (P)One too?) (T)Hyperdub's army is coming from so he has to take the long (P)Way around, buying himself enough time to take out the expo.

Same again, though this is mostly luck. (R)TLO fires a defensive nuke that manages to snipe most of (T)Hyperdub's vikings as they fly by.

Skip to 18:15. At this moment, the Korean commentators realize the shenannigans Fruit is up to and (T)Start flipping. At this (P)Point in the games life, everyone is claiming that nydus is (Z)just not viable for attacking your opponents base. Fruit proves the critics wrong (again) by doing it on the biggest stage by (P)Keeping his opponent's attention in (P)One place, while he delivers a critical blow in another. (P)Perfect anticipation of his opponents (P)ReSpOnSe to his opening, leading to a (P)Perfect defense of his opponent's actions and a perfectly prepared counter blow struck at the precise moment of vulnerability. I would add in Foxer's SCV/Marine rush on shakuras vs nestea. Another ground-breaking play that changed TvZ completly even if it's an unpopular tactic.

I love the idea of having PP again, but I just don't think we have enough good material yet. SC2 as it is right now doesn't really lend itself to jaw-dropping plays.

If you do end up doing one though, you should include TLO's nuke play vs Hyperdub from the Ro32 game 1 on Xel Naga Caverns.

edit: and definitely agreed one the white-ra vs tlo, that has to be in.
On a purely personal note, I'd like to show Yellow the beauty of infinitely repeating Starcraft 2 bunkers. -Boxer

Fruitdealer's Muta-heal.
Fruitdealer vs NexLiveForever
Set 1 - Semifinals
Metalopolis
GSL1

LiveForever attacks with a medium-sized group of marines with a couple of marauders, Fruitdealer has 7 mutalisks, about 7 or 8 lings, and 3 queens. The lings get wiped out leaving the mutalisks alone against 12 stim marines. Fruitdealer only loses 1 mutalisk as he heals his mutalisks with his queens, turning the battle into a rout.

http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens1/vod/1144 at the 15 minute mark of the game.

Edit: Nvm, someone else said it.

Definitely a good idea. I think there is already a pimpest plays for sc2 being put together by someone on Youtube, with the first one already released. Can't find it, though.

Tester holding proxy 2 gate with 1 gate. Awesome Void Ray juggling between oGsInca and sanZenith in GSL1. Fruitdealer transfusing a Mutalisk midbattle. Nazgul blinking Idra like a boss. Actionjesus 6-pooling every game.

Boxer vs Kyrix definitely stands out as the most game-changing match, but for match of the year, my vote goes to

Dimaga vs MorroW

on Blistering Sands,

way back from IEM Cologne.

I think it was game 2 of the series? It was the semi-final, and the match on Blistering Sands blew my mind. Dimaga played so well that game that it blew my mind, and it was close from beginning to end.

EDITED, for an easier read. Hope somebody knows a place to find the game.

I just did a search for "pimp" to see if there was already such a thread for SC2. Well, a lot of very interesting threads came up, that's all I'll say.

Anyways, can't go without mentioning Tester of course, who scored a Diamond and above in rush defense in GSL1. 1gate fast core vs unscouted proxy 2gate? Madness. They are of course TSL_sSKS vs NEXFreeSAGA Game 3 and TSL_sSKS vs oGsHyperdub Game 1. Then there's his brilliant force field play, not so amazing now of course now that MC has arrived, but still good. That's from TSL_sSKS vs JSLZenith Game 2 in GSL1 also.

Also from GSL1, there's the infamous LiquiDario game, I'm referring to Liquid'TLO vs oGsHyperdub Game 1 of course, where TLO uses some kind of sixth sense to bust Hyperdub with nukes. Finally, there's FruitDealer's games, but those are really pimp games rather than pimp plays, so I'll just mention the amazing Ultra+Baneling+Fungal attack by Cool in TSL_FruitDealer vs NEXLiveForever Game 1.

I'll get back to this later.

Rather innovative opening build in an attempt to maximise economic play. Significantly pimp like

Great idea. Maybe put a timecode in if you're posting the entire match?

"24 Kill Hellion"
Fenix (T) vs LiquidTyler (P)
DreamHack SteelSeries
Game 2
Xel'Naga Caverns.

http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/4436349/
Timestamp 7:00-7:30ish to start.

Fenix sends in a banshee to harass the probes at Tyler's main. The probes pull off towards the natural. Two Hellions sweep into the natural and fire blue flames into ALL the probes. All the probes from the main and the natural were stacked at one point and blue flames cut into them.
