Hey guys, I made a really big mistake during a game where I pressed Stim thrice instead of pressing TAB to select my ghost... That costed me the game.
Sometimes, when I a-move I missclick and once I pressed on this statue on Metalopolis and all my units went to attack it and none of them were attacking my enemy force. GG instantly.
Also, when I spam-click at the beginning of the game as a Terran or Zerg that "S" button sometimes won't make me a worker but instead stopping all my income...(If you get what I mean)
So TL, even though you guys are the pro of the pros, diamond of the diamonds, I do doubt that you've never done any missclicks. Share your stories for some good entertainment value!
XiGua.

Oh yeah, just changed from toss to terran, used to the forcefield spamming. Seems like spamming stim isn't as useful. xD
|
well i can only think of move command instead of amove into enemy, placing a wrong structure i didnt want (good old dual cyber core, tiwlight council or robo bay) or placed it in the wrong place (considering wall or nexus)
someone once tried a ling run by as i moved down to expand, so the lings try to run up the ramp and hit g instead of f, so most of my probes were dead, cause i just used a damn guardian shield instead of force field. i ragequitted shortly after
|
|
once in a TvT my opponent came at me with delayed cloaked banshees (previously we were both playing marine marauder, but i had tanks and he didn't so i had a slight lead). so i was like OMG it's cloaked banshees so i immediately selected my orbital command....
...and lifted off.
GG

I once was about to make like 10 infestors so I went:
"5sdddddddddd"....then I was wondering...where the crap are those infestors??? took me like 10 mins to realise I made drones instead of infestors. I'm such a newbie

1 day before GSL prelims I accidently landed all my vikings in a big fight trying to use PDD.
... Then game 1 of GSL prelims I did the same thing. Fortunately I still won the game ;p
|
I right clicked on the statue with a bunch of banelings selected ...
Yeah.
I also once tried to magic box 50+ mutalisks against a massive amount of thors and right clicked on a thor instead of the ground ...
Yeah.
|
I miss-click ALL the time. In fact, I don't think a game would be complete without me giving my opponent the edge by killing off one of my medivacs in what would otherwise be an even battle lmao
|
My favorite misclick was while getting into position to attack the terran army in the middle of xel naga.....I was ahead, army was perfect, went to throw up the guardian shield (hotkey g) but my finger decided it wanted to hit H....with all my units selected.
Zealots on hold position...that was cute. >.<

This happens to me all the time. I've had a few ATTACK MOVE moments where I attack my own units. I've killed plenty of my tanks/ravens like this. At least I laugh everytime I do it *facepalm*
|
Right at the start of the game clicking next to the minerals instead of on them then going to look at something else. Only to then wonder why you're hearing "Not enough Minerals" when you instinctively try to make a worker.
Que facepalming and massive reshuffling of build order,
|
During a PvP game I used blink stalkers to try and blink up an elevated structure, but then realized i had no observer or control of the nearby xel'naga, so I blinked into a corner =/
gg me xD
|
I got dropped by a terran player, and as I went to move my army over to kill off the drop, I accidentally right clicked my colossus that just spawned, killing it and my only chances to win the battle instantly.
Damn things need to be smaller <3
|
After switching to grid hotkeys i found out the hard way that 'z' both creates and blows up banelings manually
|
Tried to morph Zerglings into Banelings. Did you know that "e", aka: Blow up people, is very close to "r", aka: Hide in the ground?

Sniping my own units with A-move. Accidently moving all my queens to one location(all in one hotkey), moving or stopping all the workers.
shit happens

sniping my own units with Amove is my favorite, as is getting your single colossi out...and having it run to a rally point set for an obs. Or just having it try to run to a rally point instead of attacking, and getting killed because of it. Or missing ff's

i click on my own units sometimes when i attack move and end up killing a stalker or something
|
The good old spawning 10 overlords instead of corruptors, turns out a good anti-Colossus unit, an OL does not make.
|
Whatever i'm doing involving sentries, i never fail to accidentally hit 'g' at least two separate times.
|
I don't misclick too often, because of hotkeys, but sometimes when shift-patrolling in my opponent's base i click outside their base and my probe stops trying to get to the spot outside the base.
Plus the rare sniping own units. "Hey an observer! Lets attack it with my whole army" *Click* "... did i just kill my own observer?"

The sole reason I don't make Ravens. No, not screwing up in GSL but landing vikings.
I always think I accidentally overstim my marines. Like always when I move them around my hand goes near 456 to macro aaaaadda or so and then I'm always nervous: "did I just stim?" Freaks me out. Blizzard: move stop command to O or P and put stim to S, ty.

Heres the story of an epic misclick from a friend I was 1v1ing.
He had beat me the last time we played (even though it was the only time), because I was trying a new cheesy ghost build (he was toss).
So I called for a rematch on Xel'naga Caverns a few days later. We we're about 20 min in or so. I had taken my third, which was the gold in the middle. I decided to make it a PF, since I figured it would be in his attack path. Then he accidently moves (not attack move) to my natural (prob hadnt scouted my third). So my PF and the rest of my army tore up his stalkers, zealots and collosi. I was orchestrating a drop in his main, so I didnt even see what had happened! He ended up ragequitting/leaving vent. I probably would have won anyway judging by our unit compositions/post game stats, but it was still hilarious
|
When attempting to build something, i quickly click worker, click to move it to destination and build something. However, i often doubleclick a worker, selecting them all, and move them all away.....

Once I was playing in the TSL semifinals and I accidentally hit escape on a building rather than the unit to cancel my command center. Whoops. :r
|
I swapped my mouse keys around a week ago for my new left handed mouse. Took me 20 games or so to iron out all the misclicks. That first game was WICKEDLY frustrating and hilarious.

Lol kinda sounds like the time I used Vortex on my own army when I was trying to lure the enemy into it. He proceeded to kill my third while I was stuck in it, pretty much cost me the game.

Had a pretty bad misclick yesterday where I accidently sniped my own CC while trying to deal with a drop...
I could only laugh at myself.
|
I can't remember exactly what I was trying to do but I had a group of like 20ish banelings selected and for whatever reason I hit the hotkey to have them all detonate. It was STOOPS and it was so weird I couldn't even understand why the hell I did it and i just sat in my chair for like 5 seconds not doing anything wondering what I had just done.

edit: sorry, looks like i was beaten by a few people already...

wanted to lift my rax to change addons with the factory, pressed the wrong hotkey and lifted up both of my cc's
|
once in a bw game, I hit cancelled my CC when it was nearly done due to worker harass on it.
Rq'd right after.
|
Ive done what nestea did in gsl2 finals quite a few times, where you roll all your banelings into a thor instead your lings

Also sometimes I press S instead of A and my a-move turns into "stop->move behind that army without shooting" - it's incredible how fast that can cost you your army.
|
Zerg baneling micro is probably more unforgiving than anything. Press s at the wrong time and your banelings all melt on some marauders while the marines come back to kick you in the balls.
|
Half the time I try to make a planetary fortress, I load SCVs because O is close to P and both are on the other side of the keyboard.
Kind of like making two infestation pits when trying to make an ultralisk cavern.

789 hotkey too close to O with terran. go figure.

when I just started playing starcraft 2 (early beta) I rallied all my hatches to extractor instead of mineral patch When ever I'd notice my bases aren't saturated well I'd just make more and more drones... when I finally realized what I've done I had 30+ drones on that extractor : )
|
Heh i often slaughter some of my units when trying to a-move. Yesterday in a game, i was controlling my allies marines and a moving, and i ended up killing about 5 of my marines in a row.
|
I vortexed my entire army....... with the banelings he had sent after me. I have never wanted a vortex to last longer in my life.
|
I hit Guardian Shield instead of Forcefield multiple times against a terran timing push.
anyway to reprogram the keyboard to fix that?
|
barely held off a bunch of lings that slipped past my bunker (supply depot was about to be dropped by the scv) they messed up my mineral line. I finished the wall in, kills the lings and more were arriving, attacking my bunker. It was at about half health, so i clicked some rines to jump in it and some SCV's to repair it..... only I was holding down a at the time..... killed my own bunker before i realised what i had done. GG
|
Misclicking is a skill that fades away with experience and practice.
It's like a dancer or some other physical performer doing a routine, why don't they ever mess up? Because they have done it so much.
I remember first trying to use the "5" key.. oh man it seemed so far away and I would always hit the wrong one (my keyboard is always under my desk too so I couldn't look while training myself). But now 5 seems more natural than ever and I can comfortably go up to 8 without misclicking.
|
I switched to Zerg, and we were in this intense standoff. I had saved up a ton of lava, waiting for the spire to finish. I then queued up 30 mutas, then when I was about to send them out and win gainst his marauder heavy army, I realized I had just made 30 overlords instead.
o.O
|
does not making overlords turn back if im rallying towards their base count? ive lost soooo much supply via this..
|
I once pressed G instead of F in order to force field my ramp against a Baneling all-in. My opponent must've felt funny when he saw 2 Stalkers, a Zealot and a cute little sentry surrounded by a big blue globe of utter fail greeting his forces.
|
Why there is no cooldown for stim?
|
Build an evolution chamber at 13 instead of my regular spawning pool and don't realize it until it complete. It happened to me twice.
Or event better, Upgrade the range attack instead of air attack for my corruptor/mutas army.
|

If you have a starport selected X adds on a tech lab, C adds on a reactor, and V builds a viking. The amount of times I've done this I don't know.
The most frequent one I get is building a reactor on a Rax instead of a tech lab against zerg. If you don't notice it can delay stim for soooo long. If you go "screw it, I gotta move out, I'll do it without stim" and decide to keep the reactor....get ready for some insanely hard baneling micro.

I wanna hit "H" to hold position and i hit "G" so if i have sentrys im i do guardian shield for nothing...

Turning all my workers idle in the first minute of the game by combining spamming 's' on the CC and selecting workers, check
Killing my own unit through a-move, check
Pressing 'd' and landing all my vikings (usually away from the action) instead of dropping units from my medivacs, turning a win into a loss, check.
And a fresh one, pressed R to raise up my supply depot at my wall when zerglings were coming, but somehow double-tapped it and it lowered again, so they ran in, killed my 2 marines and I lost the game then and there..

the most annoying one for me is when i try to select a worker and accidentally click twice, selecting all my workers who are mining, and i then send them all to scout or something. I wish i could turn that off since i use ctrl click only to achieve the same thing only much more precise.
|
I often times blow up banelings while trying to morph more because I forgot to tab to my zerglings in my large group of units that end with -ling.
I do it less, and haven't completely lost a game because of it but it is always sad seeing banelings die without killing something.
|
The viking issue is pretty damn annoying:
medivac drop: D point defense drone: D Land vikings: D
Drop Drone lanD
wtf
|
I've done the classic too of lifting off the wrong command center and float it over to an expo Another funny is making all drones when the enemy is attacking just cause you don't think twice before you spam, you wanna make SOMETHING from the larvae!! I also seem to forget that mutalisk is T and overlord is V so every once in a while I make a whole round of overlords to harass the enemy.
|
Somtimes I misclick my hatch/nexus/CC rally to gas when I'm trying to put workers in gas. I don't realize it until several minutes later when my minerals are low and i box a worker waiting at the gas and it's actually like 10 workers.

Went to hit shift and accidentally blew up ~15 banelings that I was trying to use to stop a drop. Needless to say the drop succeeded.
I've hit the windows key more times than I care to recount. After finally doing it again last night I took the time to look up the option to disable it in SCII.
I spam q to build drones during the first few minutes in the game. This often leads to me building to 10/10 when I meant to go 9 then overlord. It's happened to me so much that I have a fallback build for just this scenario.
|
Putting all of my lings to control group 1, morphing some of them to banelings and right clicking on destructible rocks without realizing the mistake. It was very painful to watch.
|
Although not really game-changing, I sometimes produce warpprisms in midgame when I select my robo to build stuff, then go back to my troups to do some a-move and don't have this group assigned I want to a-move with (mostly the last unit in the group has just passed away). Warpprism is hotkey "a"....
Then 2 Minutes later a lonely prism starts flying above of my army and I'm like WTF where is this thing coming from.
Also the classic one: Roach attack from two base zerg, I pull all my stalkers back, wait for reinforcements and then a-move on my Nexus. Looked really funny in the replay, both roaches and stalkers side by side trying to kill my Nexus for a couple of seconds.
EDIT:

I hate it when you split probes and then click beside the minerals at the start of the game due to that annoying initial lag. Worst case scenario is doing that and your initial "Click" on Nexus and "e" didn't register either ; /

Making queens attack my own hatcheries instead of injecting larvae.

played another game and when i came back to sc2 i lifted my cc on a regular bases, raged quittet after lifting 3 orbitals while i was fighting a few cloaked units, but not onces ... after landing i lifted again. On random basis i tend to move up ramps instead of a clicking on scrap, only scrap though. Being not used to play zerg i was happily makig banelings until my last ling from this group was gone. So i waited for some more gas and using grid i pressed y (well z for amerikans i guess dunno D: ) and 20 banelings went into the void, well was ahead but still, was extremly fearful with using banelings after his.

Ahh...nearly forgot the best one:
I like to spam rightlicks in my opponents main with my scouting probe instead of shifting waypoints. Once I managed to select my nexus in order to build more probes but somehow missed the hotkey of my scouting probe while continuing with my rightclicking.
Yeah that's right: I actually started rallying probes towards my opponents base and only noticed it after 4-5 were happily on their way crossing the map.

Calling down a mule but missing the mineral patch so it just sits there and doesn't do anything.
Scanning your mineral line instead of calling down mule/supply.

i think miss clicks are inevitable especially in tournaments where you're nervous it's not about the act of miss clicking it's how fast you right it like if you miss click a mensk statue like you said just immediatly click away and you should have only lost a few shots make sure you right your positioning and it's not insta loss because you missed like 2 unit shots.

At one point a few weeks ago i was having some trouble with terrans going mass thor, hellion. I'm having little to no trouble with it now but i was experimenting with strategies. I went roach + infestor with neural to combat it. I had between 7 - 10 infestors and about 25 roaches against 10 - 12 thors and 15 - 20 hellions with little marine support. I put my roaches in a flanking position and then brought in my infestors to neural the front 5 or 6 thors... only to realize i had misclicked and researched energy instead of neural and freely suicided about 10 full energy infestors.
|
I don't even know how many times I've attacked my own units like a scrub when trying to micro. Now I've learned to use stop instead of attack move.
I'm also guilty of leaving the game once when trying to pause, but that was in a crisis situation (apartment building was being flooded). Now I only use hotkeys for menus.
|
I got a new keyboard and am still not used to it. I CONSTANTLY stim my guys when they are just chilling in my base. In one game when the P i was facing attacked me he typed "lol" at all my red health units.
Another one: When controlling my mmm ball I keep my medivacs in a seperate control group. While moving them around I inadvertantly pick up units. Always have to drop guys off mid battle lol.
|
Sometimes in an intense micro situation I will attack one of my own units. If I am lucky it only gets hurt, but if my army is large enough then it dies instantly.
edit: Not resetting a rally after making an obs and having a colossus wonder over to the other side of the map and get killed. That is the worst. Although I guess that isnt a misclick.
Accidentally setting my nexus rally to somewhere it shouldnt be. The 2 most common are the enemy base or to a gas geyser. You can have 10 probes on a geyser without noticing because the little bastards stack on each other.
|
I once was being attacked by an early cloak banshee in tvt. I half expected it, so I had been saving a scan so my stimmed marines could deal with it. Get in position, and...instinctively mule instead of hitting the scan :/
|
Couple things I've done more than once:
Research hallucinate instead of warpgate. I was like whoa, that finished quickly...fuck. It's not very helpful when trying to 4gate push :x
I usually scout on 9 after my first pylon, and a couple times I've forgotten to shift click the probe over to scout and I end up supply blocking myself 1 minute into the game.
|
One time I accidentally morphed in like 3K worth of gas in banelings, I then accidentally pressed X, I didn't realize where all my baneling's had gone untill i realized the X button is for detonate, I lost that game and my dignity a little as everyone on my stream was laughing at me for losing so many banelings, and one time I did the same thing about 2-3K gas worth of banelings and i accidentally clicked the rock blocking gold expo on xel naga caverns lol
Miss clicks are the bane of my existence T_T
|
I once accidently build an extra starport instead of an armory. The next time a engaged was wondering why i was taking so much damage and found out i was still 1/1 in infantry and the lvl 2 was not even researched. Was so pissed off.
Damn the keyboard for putting s and a so close
|
1. Accidentally move the scroll-wheel of the mouse "zooming in" the view. (Before I turned off that in the settings menu.)
2. Miss-rally CCs to the frontline instead of just the unit producing buildings in the heat of a battle.
3. Double-clicking all supply depots and lowering them. And also lowering the wall at the ramp!
|
I use grid mode, so baneling's explosion and zergling's morph-into-banelings are both the same hotkey: Z.
Guess what happened.
|
Oh, also I like to put all my production facilities on one key and tab through them for production. I also like to constantly set new rally points based on what's going on (for defending against impromptu drops, worker harass, or to re-rally with army, etc). I have several times lifted off buildings to swap add ons, set a rally point while they are still in midair, and been like "wtf" as my factory and starport are floating towards the middle of the map...
|
IdrA vs NoNy from the SCBW TSL (we're going back in time now). The only thing more epic than that misclick was the response to it.
Though for a personal one, I was at a 200/200 food Zerg army on Metalopolis and in need of clearing some space for Ultralisks. After engaging in a battle, I was able to lose some units and get a couple, but knew that wouldn't be enough to break the Terran turtle. I'm in panic mode because I know if I counter-attack now he won't have enough to hold me off (having just held off a 4 medvac drop in my main with a clutch fungal). So I decide to suicide some lings fast to get that needed supply space. But it doesn't clear up enough space. So I suicide some more. I continuously do this trying to clear space, and it's not working. I'm freaking out now as I've lost half my lings, and then finally decide to look at the small dings my minimap has been making- Then I realize that one pesky Viking I ignored has killed half my overlords without my knowledge. Shit.
|

In beta I saw my zerg opponent massing lings and morphing some banelings to knock out my pylon. I wanted a bit more time to get another cycle of units out, but luckily I had a sentry. When I saw him move out, I quickly grabbed my sentry and, in my new to the game foolishness, confused shield with field. -2 dmg to ranged as his banelings unpowered my gates and the slings rolled my force. I was pretty bummed about that one.

Mineral split failure. Catagory 5 (Read: Epic Split fail).
Makes me cry a river.
|
I was playing a game on two bases but just felt poor the whole time. Turns out I had rallied my SCVs to another SCV instead of a mineral patch.
I also have a bad habit of accidentally lifting off all of my barracks or command centers instead of just lifting one like i meant to. Hotkeys totally boned me there.
|
Playing as random, with grid hotkey setup, when spawning terran. While having all my orbitals selected lifting them, instead of scanning :D
|
Move commanding my army to enemy's army, then going back to base macroing for 5 seconds then notice what I had done
I had the army advantage before, god was I mad to myself after that
|
Once a probe came to harrass my fast-expanding SCV and I accidentally cancelled the building... So I left the game.

Oh buhuhu. You think that is tuff? I'll show you tuff. Happened to me last night when I once again was too lazy to put sentries and hts on different hotkeys so I had HTs selected but tried to forcefield.
|
I pressed P for probe for about 20 seconds and remembered it is now E. I no longer have to rotate my keyboard at a 45 degree angle in order to properly hit the correct hotkeys as Protoss. Very depressing.

Using blink and cliffwalk, I got my Colossus/Stalker army into a Terran's main on Metalopolis. When I realized he had way more marauders than I thought, I clicked my army to retreat and looked away to macro. Major fail. If you blink in, you gotta blink out. My Colossi wandered away to safety while my stalkers all moved to the ramp and died.
(Won the game still as I was just finishing templar amulet )
|
I a-move my own units all the time lol.
|
Yesterday I dropped near a Zerg's spawning pool and I'm assuming he meant to a-move his army but all his banes blew up his spawning pool. I kind of felt bad for him but he was probably going to lose anyways

How about this one?
any anyone who watched the TSL remembers this i'm sure, I like to call it the Probe that stares at CCs

Oh yeh, the good old "press right intil the mineral field instead of right on it"-trick. Its old in the book
|
I scouted colossi, i started to get some corruptors.
1mn later, i had like 10 overlords. missclicked s+vvvvvvv instead of s+ccccc.
And I lost, because colossi against roach/hydra with no corruptors is sad.

Uhg, or getting the hotkeys mixed up and ending up with 2 non-production tech buildings. well I guess i can get colossus range AND warp prism speed at the same time.

Building the old infestation pit instead of an ultralisk cavern ... what can one do with two infestation pits??
Also sometimes I keep hitting O to spawn more overlords and then keep getting annoyed at the zerg woman screaming at me when I'm positive I've already overlords
|
Standard missclick for me is when I use blink stalkers... I want them to blink and then give an attack move command... Most of the times one of my Stalker gets killed each blink by that -.-

I did the infamous z-plode, trying to morph zerglings with grid mode.
Oh, and walking around with a sizeable gateway force and about 6 HTs. I notice my oponent is right behind me, so I turn back. When I get my HTs into the fray, they are ahead of my enemies. So I feedback his marines, instead of storming. Z and X. FML.
|
Biggest one would be right-clicking instead of a-moving. That's one way to get your army raped. And I've lost loads of PvPs doing it.

Happened to me too once (have mx518), after this I deleated this stuff in the logitech drivers...so I only have one sensitiviy set.
One time in 2v2 I thought "hey, let's try to be cool and bring a prism with your army" - I was just down to one colossi when I accidently loaded the colossi into the prism instead of moving the thingy to the high-ground.
The opponents had only hydras and some MM left -_-

I never miss click, but sometimes I forget to set my rallies, and I'm like, where the hell are my reinforcements?

Super awk.

I don't know if this has been said or not, but the new "alerts" that appear at the top left of the screen I sometimes click on, and it takes you to that said alert. So if you're fighting at your opponents base and accidentally click on, say, "probe finished", it'll take you back to your base. That, and I sometimes click on the stuff on the menu bars. I've been in a few battles where I accidentally click a tab, I lag like crazy, only to see my profile being displayed as I lose my army. Sorry, Blizzard, but that's a fucking stupid feature - do I REALLY need to see my profile while i'm gaming..?

played a zvp on xelnaga caverns. he had colossi and i had a spire up, major engagement was coming up and i had enough gas for about 8 corruptors. the moment i used the hotkey i knew i had misclicked and out came infestors instead of the much needed corruptors. i lost the engagement and the game because i could only cast infetsed terrans :-(

I once attempted to make an overlord in a game, I usually select larvae with 5(hotkey of my hatchery)s and spam click on V. I ended up making 3 of them. My supply was like 9/34. I ended up winning but since that day, I never select more than 1 larva to make an overlord and I usually hotkey that larva.
Yeah, and I pressed 2 instead of 1, where 2 is the hotkey for my banelings and 1 for zerglings, a-clicked on a destructible rock.
|
"Oh cool, Thors. I'll just magic box my 40 mutas over his 4 thors!"
Then I hit a instead of s >_<
|
Hm let's see here... attacking my ally's tanks or medivacs in 2v2 while trying to attack move, right clicking on some random unit group hotkey, overwriting it, and then wasting time trying to figure out what the hell is happening while my stuff gets owned, spamming create muta without selecting larva and making a second lair somewhere, spamming create muta and fat fingering corruptor or vice versa.
Also the infamous initial-overlord-blocking-your-hatch where I thought I selected the hatch, hit Q twice for drone, then go to box my workers, but instead i just have an overlord with a move command and nothing else is happening.

Opponent kills rocks without me knowing = my army takes the shortest route, through his base.
|
I moved my army to another terran's base, deploy my tanks/marauders and go to attack. He's got marauders hitting me from a cliff, so I click my command center hot key to do a scan and get an SCV...whoops, that's a pretty terrible misclick.
So i use the mini map to find my CC, select it, and click back to my army just in time to see my marauders moving through his base getting destroyed. I guess I accidentally right clicked my army when I hit the mini-map to grab by CC. So in a fight where I outnumbered the other guy 3:1 and he had no tanks I managed to kill my entire army.
|
Recently, my opponent asked me for a sec, and paused the game. I could have unpaused and win, but i waited. About 5 or 6 minutes later, he came back, and told me to unpause the game when i'm ready. I clicked the Surrender button...

I was doing a 1 gate expand build against zerg, and right before my nexus finished, somewhere between 95-99%, I saw some lings coming with my scouting probe, and needed money to chrono out another zealot. I noticed that I had 2 probes queued up looking at the dots in my control 5 group. I went to cancel the two probes, and right as one completed, I double tapped escape, canceling my nexus at the last second. I sat there dumbfounded for a good 5 seconds before I realized that I was actually still in a game.
|
BIGGEST fucking missclick problem caused by the game is the left-click-assign-control-group function for the hotkey bar. I lost a game recently because the hotkey with ALL my raxes on it got magically assigned to a ghost. I had the game won with 4 bases to 2 tvp, but lost it because i thought i que'ed another cycle of rauders, ghosts, and vikes from my 12 raxes... all I had were 4 vikes and a handfull of rauders by the time i went to grab my next army.
|
In BW, the siege mode/tank mode hotkey was the same (o). A lot of times, I would press o one too many times in excitement. I would watch the protoss army kill my army as my tanks unsiege right after sieging.
In SC2, I've done all of the ones that seem to be common. Building 2 infestation pits (damn ultras are hard to tech to), mixing up ovies and corruptors, killing my own units with attack move. GOD DAMN I hate that stupid mengsk statue on Meta

My favorite misclick was when I was 4-gating. I accidentally made a 5th gateway and proceeded to cancel it. I select it, press Escape, and then watch four warping-in gateways explode. I accidentally CTRL + selected the unneeded 5th gate.
|
Today I learned that "R" is not the hotkey for mutalisks.
|
I tend to mix up B and H. There's nothing quite as frustrating as knowing exactly what the enemy has and knowing it'll be easy to hold as son as hydras come out, onyl to die horribly waiting for them with a second hatch in the main.
|
Sometimes I accidentally suicide my banes into a statue or rocks...
|
Wow, it's so odd that this thread was made. Yesterday I was up 170 food to 95 on Xel'Naga Caverns. I had the game won (it was a TvT), and instead of using auto-turret with my raven, I accidentally stimmed 5 times. It was a horrible slaughter, but luckily, I had a planetary at the gold and 17 barracks. I still remacrod and won, but wow, it scared me.
|
In a ZvT my opponent ran some lings in to my natural as a last ditch effort to do some damage to me. Unfortunately, I had a planetary fortress there and it mopped them up pretty handily, but I still sent units to go fend it off in case he ran up my ramp. He managed to get the PF in to yellow, and around the time the attack was over I attack moved my MM behind the building to help and then went back to macro'ing. I come back to re-hotkey the units I used to help the PF and my PF was gone. Thankfully, I still won the game as I had the rest of the map. I checked the replay afterwords and I had targeted the PF with my force that was supposed to help it =X
|
The two worst are:
(1) Building overlords instead of corrupters and losing hilariously to collosi.
(2) Rightclicking the thor instead of the marines with your banelings.

I played dota a long time ago. I used Custom keys where my hero spells were on qwer. When I played vs Zerg with Protoss I managed to surprise him early with a Void ray, nothing cheesy or critical, but I killed a few drones and he overreacted a bit and tried to rush in my base with lots of roaches. But I was prepared and had 2 sentrys and a few stalkers to guard my ramp and still do eco damage with my void ray. So yeah I mixed up the Hotkeys, selected my Nexus while on Crisis mode and spammed "Q" to use the forcefields. When i realised I am just queing probes I rapidly selected my Sentrys, I knew it would still be in time, and was sure that the game is won, because he accidently moved his queens with his roach backup to my choke and the void ray rampaged at his base. So I select the sentrys and try to block the ramp. Nothing. I try it again. Nothing. When I figuered out dota hotkeys wont work here the roaches already stomped my tiny army and destroyed my whole base. I was sooooo aggro that I lost a sure win because such a shit. Fuckin Dota influences.

The 2 that come to mind....
When I first started... It was really late at night, and I had gone 3gate/expand then went and I made my robo, Then went to make Bay for colo, and made another robo... Then went to make ANOTHER bay... and made another Robo lol fml... So I just went 3gate/3robo immortals... and won :D I actually hallucinated a bunch of immortals as well... Worked better than youd think.... I bet it at least looked scary... 12 stalkers, 3-5 zealots, 8-9 sentries, 15 IMMORTALS (Half hallucinated)!!! gogogogo!
And I was playing in a tournement and I was clearly behind (PvT bio ball vs colo/gate army) and the guy focused ALL his units on my colosus and I ran it away just in time... and he never took them off.. So I just put down a few force fields and ran the single colosus around my army and he lost all his units and I didnt even lose my colo... That was a lucky win
|
Testing out Hallucination for only like the 2nd or 3rd time. I thought I could click the hotkey (H I think) and then hold shift and spam the unit I wanted to make. I wanted to make a bunch of Colossus to trick him into not hitting my real Colossus. Instead, I got one Colossus and about 15 Guardian Shields.
=|
|
I baneling'd my own lair trying to stop a drop. There were 3 spectators.
|
Rallied my nexus onto one of my probes, rather than a mineral field, at about 3-4 minutes into the game. About 6 following probes later I realized why I didn't have as many minerals as I expected.
|
accidentally clicked all my workers and pulled them off the mineral line, A-attacking my own units. building a twilight council instead of a cannon (BCvsVC)
|
I rallied 20 probes to gas one time. I didn't get extra gas either
|
As protoss, I sometimes hit F for guardian and G for forcefields. Of course, such a mistake can really cost you the game.

The hallucination hotkey is actually C (same as colossus) so can you just spam C.

One time against an early push be the terran ball of win I accidentally morphed my only two templar into an archon instead of casting storm. Needless to say, but I lost the battle and the game.
|
I was playing in a ZvT, I had an eco lead but had botched a couple of attacks, and lost two bases so was geting pushed back. I finally got my Ultralisk Cavern up, so pressed 'c' for the Chintenous Plate, and then 1sccccccccccccc, and saw my 15 brand spanking new Corruptors fly into the fray against Thor/marine. Also to top it off, I did the exact same thing 5minutes later (after somehow actually winning the first battle with corruptors supporting my lings). But the second time was two times to many.
Edit: Also I was in a 2v2 with MASS baneling, and some lings, was move commanding my banes because the opposing teams had some banes quite nicely spread out. So I a-moved my lings to remove those banes (had roach support from teammate), but had my banes targeted so in a single moment I saw aroud 12 of his and 40ish of mine banelings explode. I still cant believe how all 45ish exploded so instantaniously, with doing minimal damage.

A bunch of mutalisks appear on team game. I select my infantry including several ghosts, hold down R and click spam snipes on mutas. Except I held down E and emped the shit out of those mutalisks.

Two main ones come to mind
First one was when I played protoss. I had a maxed out army, complete with colossi, against a roach/hydra based force. My army would have torn his to pieces.
Except I accidentally ordered my colossi to move inside his army.
Second one has happened a few times since I've been playing as zerg. For some reason, I really like making drones.
"Okay, the Terran's moving out, time to make some units to defend."
*4 S DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD*
"... Ah shit."
|
Any time I try to both engage an army and split some of my forces to flank/defend a drop somewhere, there is always a chance I'll just move-command the whole army into the enemy from mis-selecting and lose everything. I've done it several times now :|
|
Accidentally grouping my nexus and early gateways together so my early workers rally to ramp instead of minerals :/
Guardian shielding at my ramp when I see early ling pressure, gg.
|
I put all my production facilities on one hotkey (3) and tab thru them, so in one game I have 4 rax pumping bio, and I make a factory with a reactor (for the starport), then a starport. When the starport is done, time to switch, but I pressed L with my hotkey selected so it lifted off all my rax too..

Using grid hotkeys I sometimes mess up really important forcefield timings... By instead blinking straight into the enemy.

|
I accidentally selected terran at the start, then apologised for playing that race. Nah, I was playing protoss and forcefielded around my colossi to prevent a good surround by lings. I then misclicked my colossi into my newly made forcefields. GG
|
I had a couple of games vs zerg where I built an engineering bay at start instead of a barracks. In both games, I just decided to make the best of it and just went with marines and quickly got upgrades. I won both games pretty easily, which is what started me on my own marines vs zerg strategies even before Foxer.
The worst is either moving instead of a-moving into the enemy or hitting "Z" (I use grid) to siege tanks only to find I wasted a stim
|
Im always mis clicking and fat fingering the keyboard. Maybe i just need more practice.
|
I played a diamond player that misclicked and instead of A-moving he attacked the rocks beside him, I guess he went to macro or something cas it took him awhile to realize..

32 Mutas + 20 blings + 50 lings vs. 20 rines + 5 thors + 3 tanks + 10 marauders + medivacs
Should have been mine. I had a great surround on open space, my blings were rolling into the rines, the tanks were unsieged... but I accidentally move-click my mutas on a marine and they bunch up and die in 4 seconds.
|
So you have to understand I constantly set spam control groups (constantly hitting control + 1, etc.) so I end up with my control groups all jacked.
"Wait, these aren't my queens!" "Why are my queens trying to attack?!?"
Or my favorite. I am trying to build corruptors and hit V instead of C. MASS OVERLORD GO!
|
In my mind, I think: "Hey, better retreat now. 1-click, 2-click, 3-click, 4-click... and my army gets away with minimal losses!"
In reality, I get: "Hey, better retreat now. 1-click, 2-click, 3, 4-click, click... hey, why did all my colossii stand their ground while the others ran away?"
|
This isnt a misclick per se, but one time I had all my siege tanks shooting destructible rocks at the gold base on xel'naga caverns when the protoss walked his force into me and killed everything i had, instant gg from there lol. The destructible rocks died at least.
|
Sometimes when trying to do drops I will land vikings, And about once a week ill have a situation where I am trying to micro verrrry intensely and will popshot a unit
|
|
Scout a protoss's base with an overseer. Oh hey look, a templar archives being chronoboosted. Better shut that down.
*select contaminate, accidentally click the forge right next to the archives*
2 minutes later, death by storms insues.

in the game 5 of IEM New York semi-finals vs fenix I was winning the game and then my tanks targeted his command center and he barely won the battle, I would have won it so one-sidedly and won the game if I hadn't done that, and then I would have gone to the finals vs qxc and qualified for the IEM world championships..... FML

ladder game 2100 dia, toss 4 gates and moves army to outside my base on LT. im already teched to ghosts, and usually i just make a nuke, nuke the natural, and force him to mvoe his army so i can move down my ramp.
I plant the nuke in a terrible location, and as im moving my army down my ramp, my computer lags HARD and i misclicked my army to where the nuke was heading. instant army demolition (>.<)
high speed internet my ass

I've double-spired before, twice actually. One of my terran opponents even called me out on it after scanning my base.
Trying to unburrow a big group of units that are getting shot at by something with detection, while having one unburrowed unit selected...so dumb. They all burrow and continue to get shot.
|
Yeah I agree with the sniping my own units/buildings sentiment. Just today I was playing, I had a group of roaches selected trying to clean up a drop in my base. I went to a move and almost one shot my own spawning pool, had like 100hp haha.
|
When I used to play zerg I would pretty much always hit the hotkey for infestor pit instead of ultralisk cavern an then wonder WHERE THE HELL ARE MY ULTRAS THERE'S LIKE 30 THORS AT MY DOOR.
|
Tried to a-move my army toward the bottom of my ramp as the stimmed terran was coming up. Figured my concave might pull me through, but a lone marauder walked out of the fog just under my a-click causing all my units to try moving to attack the out of range target. In the split second it took to re-click, I was shredded.
|
all I've done is stop my income early game from accidently pressing 's' while spamming.
It makes me a sad sad boy.

Yeah.
I also once tried to magic box 50+ mutalisks against a massive amount of thors and right clicked on a thor instead of the ground ...
Yeah.
f-ing up magic boxes happens to me every single game i play right now lol- marines are so damn hard to do that with :D
|
On time i had the game in the bag agiast a very hard turtling terran, and he was teching cruisers. So i went to make corrupeters and hit 4svvvvvvvvvv, and made like 15 overlords, the game then draged on forever, in which i lost in the end

This happened to me once too. I couldn't believe I'd actually made 2 spires.
So in response I was like: Actually it was for double ups, retard ...
good cover up

I was playing a 3v3 and two of my partners left so it turned into a 1v3. Fortunately my opponents weren't very good so I managed to actually overpower them. Right before I was about to win, the game lags for a second while I was spamming S to build stalkers, but the Waiting for Server screen came up so instead I was hitting S for surrender and I lost the game
They really need to change that so you can't hotkey your ass out of a game because of random lag.
|
Going HT with gateway units. Up against a terran army, probably around even going into battle. Instead of selecting my HTs to feedback some medivacs, I had my sentries selected. FFing medivacs really does not help in a crucial battle situation

GG ???
How.

Sadly, morphing Zerglings into Banes and exploding Banelings meet up at the same hotkey.
So, yeah, this has roughly costed me 200 Banelings till now, worst game was about 30 at once.
=(

My mouse's cord has become faulty from excessive use. Sometimes during a game or when simply using the computer, it will deactivate itself and reestablish the connection which has cost me quite a few amount of games. Times when I must engage and have to retreat to kite or moving my units into position vs. a drop - I've lost a lot of games in those situations due to that >Xo
|
metalopolis tvt close positions@top: today i just lifted both my natural and main orbital commands.... i was trying to lift one of my raxes but somehow i hit the hotkey for them.. this skrewed up my worker rally making them all go to my main's OC right as a drop happend, losing a tooon of scvs in the fight. lucky for me i had a bunch of tanks at my front so he could not attack with his bio push, then i processed to attack after i cleaned his bio drop. I won. @.@
|
Okay but explode is x and morph baneling is e. Oh I guess it's with grid or something? This might be a good reason to actually not use grid setup, the first one I found =)
|
Calling down a MULE in a hurry and clicking right next to the mineral patch without noticing until the MULE is almost dead
|

|
How many times i made my banelings explode because on grid mode the bling morph and bling explode have the same bind.. *facepalm*
|
I rallied by Hatchery to my extractor. I had 18 drones on 1 gas and I was wondering why I didn't have any resources.
|
My opponent made killed off his own expansion when trying to clean up my ling counter, he a-moved on his orbital and one-shotted it with marauders.
Then he just went and fucking killed me.
|
I happen to be one of the (probably) 10 players who use the left handed controls.
L is inject larva, and K is attack. Nearly every game I play as zerg, I have at least one queen letting her frustration out on a poor hatchery...
|
When playing Terran, I hit s to build another scv but I actually have all my scvs selected instead and they all stop mining.
I guess i should learn not to hockey them so close to s because eon ones going to harass you within the two minuntes that badly,
Oh well. I'll try to think of more.
|
Rallied my gateway directly to the enemy scouting worker. Just as the zealot is about to finish, the worker gets into a position such that the zealot comes out stuck between the gate and 2 pylons. Stopped rallying to workers after that.
|
my most misclick seems to be accidnetly hitting i instead of u when making an ultralisk cavern >.< before i know it i have 2 infestation pits.
|
Sometimes I missclick after some spam boxing on my drones at the start of the game resulting in puting my drones on stop-move instead of building a drone, then I panick and it makes it even worse.
|
Thought of another. Switching between games can be really hazardous since the key to get to the menu changes. After playing a ton of games where esc brings up the menu, I decided to play some starcraft and mess around with zerg. I realize my sensitivity is a bit high, so I decide once my first overlord is started I'll change it. Cancelled my overlord. I've also cancelled a spawning pool. And a barracks...
|
Seeing if i could break 1k apm during spam in the beginning of the game by clicking as many buttons as possible.. and pressing S on my SCVs
Or more recently A-moving my army onto my thor trying to run from banelings. So many side effects from that.
|
I used to kill my own units with a-move. I'm starting to learn to not attack move like that though xD
|
I've defiantly hit c instead of x a few times when trying to make a tech lab. That's always rough. I also hate missing mineral patches with MULEs, always make me feel like an idiot.
|
Lets see, attacking my own spawning pool, attacking my own hatch, killing my queens, making overlords instead of corrupters... misclicks are fun.
|
'O' is not the hotkey for Orbital Command, being down 5 scvs that early in to the game is usually not good.
|
hehe well .. spamming G instead of F with my sentries vs lings kinda ... sucked..
|
trying to pull a magic box with mutas while attacking with my army, accidentally move click mutas into a single point over 3 thors.
I also have - sniping collosi with my own units sniping Marauders with MM balls
my favourite has to be 1a'ing up a ramp and letting only the front line of units attack into a concave whilst the rest of them just squirm around unable to fire.
|
mass storms on your own units while training more templars? anyone?
|
In my IEM Netherlands qualifiers I was kinda nervous because I had to play ret, and it shoutcasted by bigT, when I was flying my expo to my natural, I lifted my main CC as well, and noticed it like 10sec later, in front of 1K viewers
|
One of the most common misclicks I do is hit my control group for my Orbital Command and then try to scan, except I accidentally double tap my control group hence scanning my own base. Sucks.
|
Just happened to me today.
As Protoss, see early zergling rush headed my way on Jungle Basin. Am trying to chrono out a second zealot to deal with it and shift-click my gate waypoint so he pops out on the inside of my base.
While fending off the initial 8-10 lings I accidentally set my nexus waypoint to my choke. For the next couple minutes I kept thinking I had somehow put a probe into my army group because they just kept showing up at the choke when I repositioned.
Would send them back to the minerals one by one. Missed it for a while and finally realized what had happened after a gang of the little scamps got in the way of the next push.
Silly probes.

Yeah.
We've all been here before. ><

The WORST misclick EVER, the game losing one:
I am playing a ZvP on Scrap Station, doorbell starts ringing, I write "sec plz", I click F10 and then press N instead of P. I was like... Holy shit..
|

so how should that work? you either have all your warpgates or gateways selceted with no possibility to storm or the templars. seems impossible to screw that up tbh
|
The double infestation pit build is becoming too common for my taste.
Blizzard needs to change the ultralisk cavern hotkey, lol.

And if it's the latter, and you t-click all over your army? Then what happens?
|
Not just sniping my own units, this one time i had a massive force built up because I was just messing around with my friend in a custom but I killed my own barracks in like a second, "feels bad, man."
|
literally EVERY game i have some sort of friendly fire missclick, where i'll have my entire army selected and i'm trying to micro and i acidentally double click my army's keybinding this jumping my camera view to center my army and my attack ends up clicking one of my own units... i hate this
EDIT: oh and one time in a TvT my supply depot was literally almost done, and i went to cancel an scv at my CC to start building my raxx kuz i had one too many queue'd up but i didn't select the CC and i was on my SD and hit esc cancelling the SD and i just got mad and left the game after that LOL
|
Warping in hts during a pvt. I had my standing hts selected instead of my warpgates, and I tend to warp new hts on top of old hts out of habit. Guess who lost all his hts to 1 storm?
Lost the game after that mess >.> I also got to endure a degrading comment from my opponent who happened to scan during the mess.

I have a problem like this except I mixed up basic and advanced instead of the individual building. Nothing like making another in base hatchery when you need hydralisks.
