Anybody got an idea of the number of viewers who viewed the Korean GSL stream live?
|
I'm curious as to why companies rarely release these numbers. If the numbers are low it all makes sense but they obviously are not... And releasing them, apart from satisfying our curiosity, would generate more buzz around the event.
|
The other view counts are pretty ridilculous as well. the ZvZ between Zenio and zergbong got 60k + views, The IntoTheRainbow NEXGenius match got 300k+ views, and the Fake Boxer vs. Kyrix match got over 500k views. If anyone thought SC2 wasn't successful in Korea, these numbers certainly prove them wrong.
|
People were talking about SC2 not being successful in Korea before GSL2. Check out the vods from GSL1's grand final and you'll see so many empty seats... It's a different story now but it's hard to say whether SC2 is being successful or it's just Boxer's popularity. Whether it's just hype because of his celebrity status or Koreans finding SC2 entertaining enough is too soon to tell - we'll have to wait for season 3 and beyond that to see.

I was flipping through the Korean GOMTV site, all the viewer counts for vods are very respectable, with the majority after round of 64 over 200k view.
But the viewership count for all the Boxer and Nada games are insane. They just walk over all the other vod's view count:
Boxer Round of 64 match: 2,420,926 Nada Round of 64 match: 587,738 FruitDealer Round of 64 match: 410,745
Boxer Round of 32 match: 1,986,680 Nada Round of 32 match: 756,371 FruitDealer Round of 32 match: 509,392
Boxer Round of 16 match: 1,505,412 Nada Round of 16 match: 1,208,533
Boxer v.s. Nada: 1,063,023 AND COUNTING

That's a lot of exposure and ratings for GOM. I hope this success will be converted into a lower ticket price in the next seasons

The Boxer vs Nada games were so good

I'm pretty sure it's real Boxer and NaDa alone who are bringing all the crowds in.
