Uh..... no. BW is pretty much dead from all of this drama at this point anyway, but KeSPA isn't "killing SC2" to keep "BW Alive". If it weren't for all of this drama BW would still be going strong. SC2 can't really compete with BW at this point in stage, but hey, Gretech did the damage they wanted right?

We haven't heard Gretech's side from the negotiations, and we saw how completely different the press releases were from Blizzard and KeSPA were. I'd find it incredibly stupid for them to outright try to shutdown proleague.

With bad luck we will neither have sc2 nor sc1 as serious e-sport in korea^^

Yeah we did, gretech's side was the first news post

Okay... well then the two sides are saying different things. KeSPA claims that they offered to pay fees for Proleague to go on, but GOM refused. GOM claims that they can't let proleague go on, without being reimbursed for it, and KeSPA refused to pay. So... contradicting statements again. I'm not going to take a side, but either way this is a shitty situation.

Well they finally lowered the ticket price for Live HQ + HQ Vods to 19.95 for both, instead of the original 49.90. Twenty dollars to watch nearly 100 pro-level matches is more than worth it to me, but having to pay TWICE for Live and VODs was just absurd. Some of the live games I can actually be awake for but for the most part I will be watching VODs only. Definitely a good move on the pricing change, but still kinda sucks we can't get VOD support for free (or I should say legally, because someone could always re-stream it).
I really hope they don't cripple Brood War, it has easily two to three more years in it at a pro-level, destroying that potential just so the infant SC2 pro-scene can start to grow. Don't misunderstand me on purpose thought I want SC2 to go big, but I want BW too - there is no reason both cannot co-exist for a while yet (except of course for corporate greed/power hunger).

Actually those statements don't contradict. KeSPA did not agree to reimburse GOM for any prior pro-leagues that were held, instead KeSPA offered to pay broadcasting fees for any future games. As far as GOM is concerned that is not good enough, they want payment for the previous proleagues that have been happening for some time.

ghaa so much politics! why cant we just have both games peacfully coexisting together?
or better yet, use bw as a tool to promote sc2 - rather than shut down bw to force ppl to move over.........
i wonder what the players have to say about all this bullshit

Fuck Kespa again. I hate that organisation with a passion.

Do they not realize random amateurs are streaming at 1000kbps or better? That HQ is more like 1500kbps? MLGs was 1600kbps, iirc. Even just 800kbps is miles ahead of 500kbps in clarity.
Ridiculous. Do YOU not realize they have to stream to tens of thousands of users?

Still it is kinda strange, before Gretech it was Blizzard and they had the same problems. On top of that Kespa seems to be the only identity that seems to be having problems. All the other leagues and cups have had no problem of any kind when running their SC1/SC2 tournaments.

KeSPA is not killing SC2. They're just not investing into it, why would they? Are they obliged to or some shit?
On the other hand, Gretech actively tries to to kill BW.

Sounds awesome theyre going to be streaming at all even at low qual. Bandwith isn't free or cheap you know.
And in business sense it only makes sense that kespa wants sc2 to not be successful

Kespa's way of 'not promoting' SC2 is not letting SC2 be promoted. Forbidding all teams to play SC2 and having doing anything to do with SC2 is pretty pro-active to me.

this all seems pointless to me OSL finals are soon. then whats left for kespa to regulate? OSL/MSL/proleague can't operate without a gretech deal. is kespa going to postpone all 3 leagues until after they try to win the court case? BW will die in that time and in that time SC2 will be the only thing to watch. unless OSL renegotiate a deal after the finals are over.

i wonder if this is why we are getting a free lq stream now.. since there will be no free ogn stream ?
