Its one thing to talk balance. It's another to talk Zerg balance. And its a whole other to talk Zerg balance with Idra. I have a feeling Sean has been down that road many times before and knows that its really a pointless argument as none of them will change their minds after it.

i would also love if idra was made a pillar. every time he is on, i find i am more interested in whatever topic is being debated; he offers a really interesting viewpoint most of the time. a lot of the time, the other guests that are brought on the show are somewhat lackluster and dont really bring anything substantiated.
idra is the perfect compliment to the current lineup.

That sucks though, constant Terran bashing. They gotta get a Terran pillar in there somehow.

Here is the link: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=185691¤tpage=AllIf you notice, it was made in January 19, so what I did was look at the links he gave for his data, and then checked in regards to more recent data. I separated the data going backwards based on April 4th to March 1st (basically the month of March) and February 28th to Jan27 (basically the month of February). Here is what I got: March Gold: Terran 39 Protoss 26 Zerg 26 March Silver: Terran 36 Protoss 27 Zerg 27 Random 1 February Gold: Terran 46 Protoss 33 Zerg 23 February Silver: Terran 39 Protoss 38 Zerg 25 So what do we see? In the last month, Zergs have been doing equally as well in tournaments as Protoss, and I mean exactly equally. Terrans have been dominating in all aspects for the last two months, and back a month ago Zergs were doing substantially worse than both races. Admittedly, this has the same weaknesses as before. These are just individual stats of tournaments wins of 1st and 2nd place, not a large amount of statistical data. But if anything, the trend seems to be positive for Zerg, negative for Protoss, and neutral to negative for Terran. Looking back at the original link, I have not had a chance to look at individual winrates of top pros, I will do that a bit later possibly. Edit: If anyone does not trust me or wants to double check, here is the data, I used an excel spreadsheet to count: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Asv1-ALiHzT8dE5GYmFyMUI1ZUk0ZzUteERYMS16V2c&hl=en#gid=0And here is where the data came from: http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/sc2-international/individual-leaguesThe first one is 2011 US Go4SC2 Cup #44 Attero MarinekngXPn The last one is 2011 Viking Cup #27 Jimpo elfi I don't know how significant some of these are (ownmygroin > lobber in craftcup), and you gotta remember that so many of these are small tournaments playing on the crappy blizzard maps (where Terran >> all) but interesting none the less. Looks like Protoss haven't been findign their stride in these online tourneys either. Would be pretty cool if you could calculate the winrates of the top players tho, i'd love to see that :D.
Haha, thanks for the input. You are right, some of these are not very significant, and you can't expect top pros to be in hundreds of tournaments at all points in time, but that is the problem with the entire balance debate. So few people means it becomes difficult to talk about.
As for the winrates, I will try. I'm still catching up on TSL, and then I have regular schoolwork to wrap up, but I'm sure I'll procrastinate and do it some point in the next few days.
As for Idra, despite my seeming attacks in the last few posts, I actually wouldn't mind hearing him more on SotG as well. I think his balance talk isn't particularly useful, but I find he gives a unique perspective on the way units interact and I like hearing him talk about the way games go from his perspective. I as well am not sure if 5 people would work, but that may just be that I've become used to 4, and 5 would work out just fine. In any case, a little change is always fun.

HEY ALL, with the NASL premiering Tuesday night is the gang still going to do a SOTG podcast?? I feel like this is going to be a problem every week from now on T_T

Just better to have another race besides two Protoss

afaik all the casting is done previous to the actual airing. i could be totally wrong on that though. so really incontrol could still be on the cast if it runs during nasl. dunno how exactly that will go down

idra is a good replacement. always speaks his mind and esp now that incontrol is more carebear then angry bear thats very welcome

NASL is played and recorded ahead of time so I see no reason InC wouldn't be available.

it'd be weird if it conflicted with the airing of it though - like if the NASL went past 10:30 cst and SotG just started in the middle of it.

I think that was a joke though, I mean sounded like Idra wasn't supposed to be on last week (but incontrol couldn't show), and he wasn't on the 2-3 weeks before either. Could be wrong but I still think JP was just joking sadly.

Yea man, we gotta have someone to represent! Someone to tell InC/Tyler that DT's just ARE better than banshees, and someone to shut IdrA up when he complains about Terran (which luckily he hasnt been doing too much). Also, he should wear a giant Terran banner and be dressed as a marine.
PainUser is good, but even if he isnt available, it shouldn't be a problem finding someone.

That's not gonna happen. JP will delay SOTG because he and the others will be watching the NASL like the majority of their audience

I think NASL is set to be a 3 hour show (plus 30 min for pregame I guess) so that's 9-12 EST. SOTG usually starts at 11:30 EST, so that's a half hour of overlap.
NASL will have to get priority of course, at least for the premiere episode, but I hope SOTG gets delayed so they can just jump right into discussing the NASL that literally came right before.

As people have said earlier in this thread, NASL is prerecorded, so that won't likely be a problem.

SOTG will probably be a NASL recap session since the games will be so fresh. But i do hope that other tournaments are not neglected.
It'll be interesting to see what
tsl spoiler
+ Show Spoiler +Tyler thinks of his slump as well as thorzain's build as well as game 1. Did he really tilt on game 3 and does he think not getting charge was his biggest mistake.
Of course seeing how the panel react to " the biggest upset in TSL yet which nobody else thought was an upset" that is kas demolishing nada would be interesting too .

I've seen a lot of people say this, but I don't understand how people know Idra would have won that clash.
Looking at vods, people were able to figure out the army compositions just before that clash at the end of the game, and if you look at it http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=8608311, I think it could easily go either way.
Just because Day9 said that Idra would have won doesn't make it true. Day also said that when he casts he would constantly say a Protoss was making a mistake and attacking a superior force and then the Protoss would roll their opponent.
