I really hope they discuss the sense or nonsense of extended series especially from a players perspective and since there were several of them this weekend there are quite a few players to ask about their experience. With the amount of games to play over the weekend I wonder if it might have been too much.

Why did the mapthing sound like a cast from outer space, why did JP just do 3 s interviews with a winner all weekend etc etc. There is so much to think about and really take to heart from this event. They should read the MLG feedback thread and just change 50% of the people working with SC2 at MLG, this is getting more and more strange.

P.S. Geoff, please don't let NASL fail as hard as MLG did.

I have the feeling with all these extended series threads and talk that a lot of people are new to 2011 esports. That's fine, but you should really take like 10 minutes to search. Extended series has been discussed OVER and OVER. There were 2 huge topics on the TL forums about it with absolutely massive logical debates. There were polls on the main page and a few poll threads. There were statements from MLG officials. There was an ENTIRE SotG devoted to extended series. Come on. We don't need more of that. Every argument that can be made has been made somewhere in the above list. MLG knows how much the community hates it and the players hate it. SotG has already ragged on the fact that they won't change it. If you don't want to search for those sources, fine, but please don't waste another State of the Game on it. As for MLG Dallas 2011, obviously the technical problems were huge. However, spending 30 minutes ragging on MLG isn't going to do a damn thing to help esports. They know how much they fucked up. All of the posters posting things like "I hope everyone at MLG gets fired" or "I hope MLG stops carrying SC2" or "I hope MLG loses tons of money from this" need to get a clue.

No. MLG needs to get a clue. MLG is a big tournament, but it's not like the only big tournament, it's just another fish (that can't swim) in the Pool of tournamentes/leagues/lans. The/Our Raging is not hurting E-Sports, MLG is hurting E-Sports... In fact last weekend they put a Gun at SC2 head and pulled the trigger... MLG absoluetly wants SC2 in it's events... Why? The MLG wants to grow, SC2 generates tons of new viewers (not like Halo Reach which just grabbend the old Halo users), viewers attract sponsors/companies and therefore generate the MLG money. There are plenty of other Tournaments out there, which are better run in just about all aspects, than the MLG, which for most people outside oft he USA was basically unknown until SC2. And it's still staggering when you think that big ass Lans can support multiple good streams for free and the MLG, which is not a Lan and therefore WAY easyer to manage, can't even support their payd HQ stream (which wasn't HQ from what i got anyway). If this is the major company/event for american "E-Sports", then you guys got a serious problem. They failed at so many levels... FFS last year they were unable to bring in enough Chairs for the paying customers to watch SC2... This is "ok" at the very first even't but IIRC there were 3-4 and only at the last it got somewhat decent? Just compare this to all the other leagues (which are not perfect) or the big Lans (which also are not perfect). Especially the Big Lans... SC2 is not even the "main" attraction at this events, not even one of them and they run the tournaments better than a company that wants to make profit mainly by showing "E-Sports". Seriously, nothing would be lost if MLG dies (i hope they just improve.. But with their track record atm? Nothing would be lost).

JP works for them a lot, Day9 casts for them. Of course they can still discuss things that went wrong, but they are tied. Incontrol works for NASL, which is a competitor of sorts of MLG, but they also wants to have a good relationship with them because that can help both parties in adjusting so that the friction between them is as little as possible. It would be highly unproffesional of him to rag on MLG after the fiasco that was the NASL showmatch, and NASL still not launched in full. So that leaves Tyler and Idra, and I am not sure they really noticed the problems as much as the viewers did. All in all, there is not so much to talk about really. There was enormous technical problems, it is what it is. MLG screwed up almost as much as possible, and their confidence is probably at the rock bottom.

It needs to be said. It needs to be said plain and simple that MLG has failed utterly, and if they keep this up, they'll be that tiny Halo community again.

I know 3 of the 4 pillars have their hands tied, but there's still hope in Tealer and a few guests. The system makes it liturally impossible for people to improve their seed, unless they are naniwa. Any1 who where in the top 16 seeds will end really high even if they lose all their games. All games we got to see on stream by geoff wasnt really good. He lost after being ahead against scelect , lost after build order win against kiwikaki, then doing fail dt rush, allthough cant really blame him for that one. Either kiwi heard some crowd cheer or he blind countered to the perfect timing. Not trying to bash on his 4th place, but there where people placing lower who had a much more impressive run in the brackets.

Nope, it was reddit that started that- They collected money to send to him for his #200 episode, Day[9] did in no way encourage it. SotG has their hands tied but I hope Tyler and Geoff can get some criticism across. Internet cut out, not much to be discussed there but the fact that SC2 still has such low production value is a bit worrying.
